Adriana Hvar Spa Hotel, Hvar

4.5 (13 reviews) Upscale
Chic urban getaway with luxury spa, panoramic marina and Old Town views, gym, rooftop bar, and an all-day restaurant

Overview

Adriana Hvar Spa Hotel, a contemporary waterfront retreat, sits on the marina promenade in Hvar Old Town. Guests stay in a lively yet scenic area just steps from the main square, with easy access to landmarks like the hilltop Spanish Fortress and nearby beaches, as well as ferry connections to Split. Rooms are bright and modern, with clean-lined decor and large windows, while upgraded suites add features such as jetted tubs, extra living space, and balconies overlooking the harbor. Visitors can unwind at the full-service Sensori Spa with multiple sauna experiences and treatments, swim in the naturally lit indoor pool, and enjoy Mediterranean dining or sunset cocktails on the rooftop terrace with views of the Pakleni Islands.

Kimkim's Take

Pros
  • Given the prime waterfront location on Hvar's promenade, you can walk everywhere, from the main square to historic sites, as well as easily board a boat for water-based excursions.
  • Take in those stellar panoramas of the harbor and Pakleni Islands from the rooftop bar and terrace—ideal for sunset drinks.
  • Strong wellness focus with a full-service spa, four distinct sauna experiences, and a beautifully-lit indoor pool.
  • Bright, modern rooms with large windows; sea-view options are especially worth it for the marina scenery.
  • Upgrade to a suite for extra floor space and perks like whirlpool tubs and balconies.
  • Easy arrival and departure thanks to proximity to the catamaran terminal.
  • There's solid dining on-site, including a generous (complimentary) breakfast and Mediterranean dishes made with local ingredients.
Cons
  • The central location comes with noise; expect some late-night sounds, especially in peak summer months.
  • There isn't an outdoor pool (wellness facilities are primarily indoors).

Authenticity

Adriana Hvar Spa Hotel is a contemporary hotel that underwent a full refurbishment completed in 2018, emphasizing a sleek, urban spa aesthetic. While you won't find original stonework or centuries-old features, the hotel still reflects its coastal Croatian setting through Mediterranean dishes made with locally sourced, organic ingredients and its "Heritage Collection" wellness treatments that use sea salt, wild island herbs, and botanicals of the Croatian coast. Its design subtly nods to the surrounding seascape, with bright, airy interiors and expansive views of the marina and Pakleni Islands.

Location

Directly on Hvar's waterfront promenade, you're mere steps from the main square, historic landmarks, and the catamaran terminal. You're within a 15-minute walk of highlights like the hilltop Španjola Fortress, the Franciscan Monastery, and the Heritage Museum, as well as countless restaurants and cafés. Views stretch across the marina to the Pakleni Islands, giving you front-row seats to Hvar's coastal charm. The central setting is ideal for exploring on foot, though light sleepers should note the lively nightlife can carry into the evening.

Rooms & Bathrooms

Rooms and suites are modern, bright, and chic, with clean lines, white walls, pops of muted colors (think pale pink, mauve, and dusty blue) in textiles, and abstract art on display. Large picture windows—many with sea views—bring in natural light and frame views of the harbor's boats and yachts. Seafoam-green bathrooms are sleek and well-appointed, while suites elevate the experience with added living space and features such as whirlpool bathtubs. For something special, the Penthouse Suite offers floor-to-ceiling windows and a private balcony with panoramic harbor and island views.

Amenities

The standout here is the Sensori Spa, a full-service wellness space offering massage, facials, body treatments, and four sauna experiences, along with a fitness facility. There's also an indoor pool bathed in natural light and flanked by sun loungers. Dining is a highlight, from the generous breakfast at Val Marina Restaurant to signature cocktails at the rooftop Top Bar overlooking the harbor. There are also multiple lounging areas, including a terrace and lobby bar.

Family-Friendliness

The Spa suites and Adriana Terrace Spa Suite can host up to four guests and include flexible bedding options, while the central location means easy access to beaches, boat excursions, and nearby attractions that appeal to all ages. That said, the overall vibe and spa-centric amenities may feel more tailored to adults seeking a relaxed, urban escape.

Sustainability

Val Marina restaurant prioritizes locally sourced, organic ingredients whenever possible, supporting regional producers. The emphasis on natural wellness products in the spa further aligns with a more eco-conscious philosophy.

The hotel is large, but a member of their team came to pick us up at the pier, and they drove our luggage over to the hotel, about a 6min walk away. The breakfast and rooftop bar were great. The rooms we got were a bit small, the bathroom a bit awkward, especially if you're not a couple sharing the space just because of lack of privacy. Read more
