Overview
History and culture meet in the centrally located Grand Hotel Cavour, positioned directly between the Piazza del Duomo and Uffizi Gallery, both five minutes away by foot. This 13th-century palace has been used as a hotel since the 1800s, and it features some elements of a traditional ornate style like marble floors, decorative columns, and large portraits. Literature lovers can walk to the house of Dante, just one block away, while the medieval Ponte Vecchio is just over a 5-minute walk.
The 100 rooms blend the historic with the modern by incorporating elements like ceiling frescos, iron-wrought railings, and vintage pieces. Triple Rooms sleep extra guests on sofa beds, although you can also book a Family Suite made of two rooms blocked off with a private hallway to ensure that everyone gets their own bed. The King or Beatrice Suite is the largest option, featuring two bathrooms, a living room, and a balcony. Those looking to enjoy the sights and sounds of Florence can also check out the Deluxe Suite, which has a balcony and city view.
The Grand Hotel Cavour takes advantage of a central location with its rooftop bar and terrace, the Divina Terraza, which offers a panoramic view of the city. The ground-floor breakfast area was designed by 18th-century artist Galileo Chini and includes fantastic stained-glass windows and detailed wall designs to start your day off with beauty and history. The hotel also offers a fitness center and secret bar in its ancient brick-arched basement for those who want an experience reminiscent of American speakeasies.

You cannot beat the location of this hotel, right in the heart of Florence. Our room was on the smaller side but was modern, clean and comfortable. Unfortunately it rained so we couldn't enjoy the rooftop terrace. Breakfast was very nice.
