Hôtel West End, Nice
Historic Belle Époque hotel on the Promenade des Anglais, with sea-facing rooms, an on-site restaurant, and a cozy bar
The family suite was amazing for us. The water view and small balcony was a plus. Location was great!!
Wow! A balcony room overlooking the French Riviera - yes please!!
Fabulous hotel situated right across the street from the Mediterranean Sea. Location can't be beat! Sweet outdoor restaurant with delicious breakfasts.
Fantastic location on the Mediterranean...great for people watching and many restaurants available. There is also a covered public parking ramp very close in the same block.
The 4* Hotel West End in Nice was amazing. The location and accommodations were perfect, making for an incredible experience.
Overview
Kimkim's Take
- You'll stay in one of Nice's most historic hotels, with a Belle Époque facade facing the glittering Promenade des Anglais and the beach.
- Room options range from petite doubles to spacious, renovated upper-story suites; book a Sea View unit for high ceilings, original architectural details, and Mediterranean vistas.
- The on-site restaurant is a great spot for people-watching, with a streetside terrace along the busy promenade and the beachfront.
- You can pay a fee to access the private beach across the street (complete with sun loungers and lockers), or stroll a little farther to a public stretch of sand.
- There are no spa or pool facilities at this historic property.
- The location on the busy Promenade des Anglais means some rooms can experience street noise.
- There's no on-site parking, but you can book ahead to reserve a spot at a nearby paid garage.
Authenticity
Known as the Hôtel Victoria when it first opened in 1854, this stately Belle Époque building was one of the first hotels built on Nice's famed Promenade des Anglais. Little of the listed facade has changed over the centuries, and the lobby still channels an Old World feel with patterned crimson carpets, elegant antiques, and fresh floral arrangements. While some of the interiors blur the line between dated and old-fashioned, the rooms are comfortable and well-appointed, and the setting is as Riviera as it gets—just make sure to spring for one of the sea-facing units for the full experience.
Location
You'll stay in the city's most prime address, overlooking the Mediterranean and next door to the lush Jardins du Musée Masséna and the pink Riviera landmark of Le Negresco. The beach is just across the street, and the pastel buildings and cobblestone streets of the historic Vieux Nice are an easy 12-minute stroll east. It's also a handy spot for transport: buses stop along the Promenade des Anglais, and it's a 10-minute walk north to the Alsace-Lorraine tram stop, which connects with Nice Côte d'Azur Airport's Terminal 1 in about 20 minutes. Limited on-site parking is available for a fee.
Rooms & Bathrooms
The 121 air-conditioned guest rooms vary in size and aesthetic, from petite Escapade and Standard options to larger Sea View units with French doors and iron balconies. Most are decorated in a classic, slightly old-fashioned style with plush carpets, heavy drapes, and velvet furniture. Newly renovated upper-story Deluxe rooms have a more modern feel, with pale, minimalist decor and glossy tile floors. Suites add separate living rooms and corner sea views. Bathrooms are mostly tiled and modern, with large bath/shower combos (upgraded rooms include Clarins toiletries). All floors are reached by elevator, and several units are accessible.
Amenities
The hotel's historic details extend into the restaurant, Le Siecle, where you can dine on elevated French fare under Art Nouveau stained glass ceilings. Its shaded terrace transforms into a cocktail lounge in warmer weather, and breakfast is served among potted palms in the nearby Le Palmeraie, with a wide selection of hot and cold options and some local touches (including lavender honey from the hotel's sponsored hives). Other common areas include a billiards room, a small library, and the cozy Horse Guard Bar, which channels an English hunting lodge aesthetic with tartan carpets and leather armchairs.
Family-Friendliness
Children are welcome at Hôtel West End. Adjoining or Triple rooms are the best fit for families (the latter includes extra twin or bunk beds), and cribs and foldaway beds are free for those under 12. The restaurant also offers a children's menu upon request.
