Introducing Indonesia
Not only does Indonesia offer some of the best beach escapes anywhere in the world, it’s also full of amazing temples, smiling people, incredible food, a diverse array of wildlife, and spectacular volcanoes. When is the best time to visit?
The hands down best time of the year to visit Indonesia is between May and September, when the days are dry and sunny. That being said, it stays warm and comfortable during the wet season as well, when you should expect intense downpours that last a few hours but clear up pretty quickly.
Where to go in Indonesia?
As tempting as it is to spend the entire trip relaxing in Bali, there’s so much more to Indonesia than beaches and spa treatments. Visit active and dormant volcanoes, such as Mt. Bromo in the Bromo-Tengger-Semeru National Park, or paddle through the Komodo National Park, home of the world famous Komodo Dragons. You will inevitably travel in and out of Indonesia via Jakarta, and other cultural destinations to explore include Yogyakarta, Tana Toraja, and the Baliem Valley.
How many days do I need?
Indonesia is best experienced at a slower pace. Let yourself enjoy the beaches and other natural scenery, and maybe even visit a spa or two. Try to reserve at least a week to really savor this country.

Marc was our Kimkim local specialist. We wanted to avoid the crowded tourist locations, explore the Balinese culture, and interact with locals. He listened to what we hoped to experience on this trip and made recommendations. The communication was fantastic. Bali is 12 hours ahead of Boston, so the messaging feature in the Kimkim app was easy and efficient.
Marc crafted a very special time on the... Read more
