From arranging transport from island to island, to strategically planning hotels, etc, it was so helpful having them take the reins and plan the trip. It was a huge weight off my shoulders.

We really appreciated the dedication of our guides to nature and the animals of the Galapagos. They were all very knowledgeable and you could feel the respect they had for the natural world. Julio, Darwin, Charlie and Enrique were fantastic. Darwin was perhaps the most animated and just as excited as we were about the animals we saw. The planned meals were very good. The transportation went off without a hitch. We loved both hotels and the service at both (La Isla and Iguana crossing). Joseph at La Isla went above and beyond also. Overall everything was great.

Our trip to Quito, Galápagos and the Ecuadorian jungle was largely amazing. We have used KimKim once before and will use again in future trip planning. Anthony did an excellent job in helping to plan our trip and was very patient as we worked out the details. Although nothing interfered with our trip experience overall-there were two occasions when Anthony was difficult to reach-one actually had to do with just a quick clarification on transportation. We figured out the time inconsistency ourselves going with the earlier time but Anthony did not respond for over 24 hours. The other issue was something that Anthony wanted to do for us because of an issue with a hotel room . Anthony wanted to treat us to dinner and arranged transportation. Unfortunately when we got to the restaurant they knew nothing about our arrival. After trying to reach Anthony and not hearing back, we tried two other phone numbers we were given by transportation guides on the island. The numbers were clearly not workable as those answering the calls had no idea what was going on and were not bilingual. We then called the operations center where they were very helpful. Apparently our reservation was for the following night but they worked it out with the restaurant. We ended up having a nice dinner and an enjoyable walk back to the hotel. With all this feedback, I don’t want to leave a negative impression. The Ecuadorian jungle was absolutely incredible and I would recommend it to anyone. Sasha itself was an excellent immersive experience and the way it is run is exceptional. The staff there love what they do and it clearly shows in their customer service. Galápagos of course is also exceptional and is clean, safe and beautiful. Our hotels in Quito, Sasha Lodge, Ikala and Iguana crossing were also great with really good food as well. Transportation was also great from place-to-place and always timely.

Go Quito Hotel
Quito

Although we didn’t have a long stay here, this hotel was in a great location. It was modern and the food and view from the top floor was terrific. Hotel staff also very accommodating.

Authenticity & Character
Modern as appropriate to the middle of an urban area
Location
It was located in the middle of the city accessible to a lot. Commuting around Quito takes some time as traffic is an issue.

Sasha lodge is truly incredible and we do sincerely appreciate Anthony for recommending it. From the moment you land there after a “journey” which is an adventure itself, you appreciate what it takes for Sasha to run so extraordinarily well. From the Manager, to the guides, to the Chef there is a tremendous pride as there should be. Of course, It is not the place to go if you want to do your own hiking etc. for obvious reasons but if you find their daily agenda appealing as we did then you will have a once in a lifetime experience.

Authenticity & Character
It truly has a unique character to it with no outside locks, boardwalks over the river and a pool unlike any other. Meals were also extraordinary and meal settings were incredible.
Location
I literally retired the three days before we went to Sasha. After taking a plane, boat, hike, and awesome canoe trip, I couldn’t think of anywhere else that would have immersed me so quickly into a different world.
Staff
All provided great service and our guide was outstanding. The Manager was also very visible and friendly. He obviously was very proud of a first class operation.
Cleanliness & Comfort
The room was clean and comfortable. Rooms also had air conditioning which I didn’t learn until later that Sasha is the only out there with AC. It was hot and largely dry so worked out very well for us.

Really didn’t spend a lot of time there. It was clean, restaurant was good and of course very convenient to airport.

Authenticity & Character
There was nothing that really stood out either way. It was like most other airport hotels so absolutely fine.
Location
The main reason for staying there was the convenience to airport. Not really close to anything else but not really expecting it to be.
Staff
Felt welcome but not a lot of time for staff interaction
Cleanliness & Comfort

We spent the most time at this hotel and it was a great experience. It was close to shops and the amazing pier on Santa Cruz and also had a beautiful rooftop restaurant.

Authenticity & Character
The pool looked nice although we didn’t use it and the courtyard was beautiful. We also enjoyed the outdoor restaurant by the pool as well as the rooftop restaurant during our stay.
Location
Close to shops, restaurants and pier. Really appreciated the walk ability here and safety.
Staff
The people working the desk were always willing to answer any questions.
Cleanliness & Comfort
Nothing stands out but do appreciate the cleanliness of the rooms.
Iguana Crossing Boutique Hotel
Galápagos

Iguana crossing is a beautiful beach side hotel. It embodies everything exceptional about the Galápagos island. Sun, sea and of course wildlife. The staff there was very friendly and courteous and our room was very clean and overlooked the ocean.

Authenticity & Character
Every thing about this hotel from its breezeways to our room overlooking the ocean and pool captured Galápagos feel. Believe it or not the iguanas even crossed the road at the iguana crossing sign.
Location
Beach side hotel at the end of the beach strip but still very close to town and restaurants.
Staff
All staff was courteous and pleasant and never balked at holding our bags before we checked in and after we checked out.
Cleanliness & Comfort

Javier was a great guide for our day in Quito. The Middle of the World exhibition was a little touristy but clearly no trip to Quito Ecuador would be complete without out it. The rest of our walk was very pleasant and our guide was both friendly and knowledgeable. The Chocolate tasting is really just that. Not really much history(a few pictures) but the rest of it was really about buying something at the store. I am a chocolate lover so worked about for me.

Quality of Experience

As I’ve already said the Sasha experience was excellent throughout. Day 1 was about a reasonable hike. Lots of stairs. Beautiful overlook bridges and bird watching. If cousins it was also about the beautiful jungle around you and the phenomenal meals waiting for you.

Quality of Experience
The bridges were phenomenal and the birds were beautiful although May want to bring binoculars if have them. Guide will provide scope as well.
Food
The quality and way food was served was excellent. Just thinking about how it all got there was mind-blowing.

This was one of only.two excursions that we thought could have been improved for all on board. While tintoreras is amazing we thought the snorkeling could have been improved for weaker snorkelers. While my wife and I were confident in the first snorkeling site there and saw some amazing things, there was more of an open water swim to the other site. Since the boat went over there anyway, we thought those (about a half dozen) that did not want to swim over there could have been transported over by boat there to continue their snorkeling.

Quality of Experience
Mentioned above about snorkeling opportunities for less advanced.
Guides, Drivers and Staff
Our guide was good and engaging on the way out to Tintoreras. On the way back however, he totally focused on the half of our group that spoke fluent Spanish. It felt like we were now on two different trips. We did notice that the guide got of the bus at the same hotel in town as the Spanish speaking group so maybe he had been their tour guide all day. It just felt a little strange for those of us less fluent in Spanish.

Hi Mark,

Thank you very much for taking the time to share such a thoughtful review.

I’m really glad to hear that your overall experience in Ecuador, the Galápagos Islands, and the Amazon was such a positive one. It’s great to know you enjoyed places like Sacha Lodge and that everything from hotels to transportation met your expectations.

At the same time, I truly appreciate you pointing out the moments where communication fell short. You are absolutely right, and I sincerely apologize for the delay in my response and for the confusion around the dinner arrangement.

As context, this was meant to be a small gesture from my side following the hotel situation. There was a coordination error with the local team in Galápagos, and you were taken to the restaurant one day before the confirmed reservation, which is why nothing was registered upon arrival.

At that moment, communication was also more difficult than it should have been. I understand you tried reaching me by phone while on roaming, but unfortunately the calls were not coming through to my number. I was in contact with you via chat and trying to return your call, but I know it was not immediate and I completely understand how frustrating that must have felt.

I’m very glad that, together with our operations team, the situation was resolved and that you were still able to enjoy the evening, but I agree it should have been much smoother.

Your feedback is truly valuable, and I’m already taking steps to improve both coordination and communication during trips to avoid situations like this in the future.

Thank you again for your trust, your patience, and for traveling with me. It was a pleasure planning this journey with you, and I would love to assist you again in the future.

Warm regards,
Anthony

The only "custom" things we asked for - diving and a pick up - that we were told were possible once we were on the island we were informed we not. So that went any see service/benefit.

For the boat review:
Legend Feedback

Day 1- Guide kept talking into the wind instead of to the group. No one knew what he was saying, even after informing him they could not hear. Guide miscounted people.

Day 2- Lack of towels in the swimming area, expected to return after snorkeling wet. Again, no towel provided. Guide still had not informed guests of the safest way to get on and off the Pangas- this is standard on other boats. Was told on day 2 not to drink the tap water in the room , luckily we knew that from previous boats. A little late for some.

Day 3- waiter still can’t remember food allergies. Again, standard on day 1 to go over guest allergies and confirm. None of this happened, I have to at each meal.

Day 4- partner developed a food borne travelers stomach. Atleast the doctor had meds, even if she kept trying to prescribe advil.

Day 5- clearly can’t manage time. Guide was 20 mins late for morning excursion. Afternoon they scheduled 1 hr - which ended up being much less due to island closure time - for a beach walk and snorkel. Most guests couldn’t complete the beach walk in that time. Multiple guest commented with the boat at half capacity they can’t imagine anything happening at full capacity. Crew forgot gas in the dingy, had to refill in the open water. Crew wasn’t ready to help off board, had to wait and call them. Guide again miscounted guests and almost left someone at the turtle ranch. On the beach a new guest thought I was crew because I was the only one stopping to help her. This happened a few times when I notice wildlife our guide wasn’t pointing out to the other people in our group.

Day 6 - guide miscounted again leaving the boat and left passengers because they claimed the notification was clear. We agree it’s been inconsistent the “get ready”, “and “up next” ad “leaving”. Sometimes they’ll say “up next” and never the other ones. Multiple people have missed their disembarkments.

Day 7 - people in our group requested to change guides and were approved to do so. People cleaning the room continue to not empty full garbage. after a week waiter remembered our drink order of water, guide still doesn't know the 8 people in his group.

Day 8 - hot tub temperature control breaks. Again I stopped to assist a guest struggling on the walk. No guide or crew stayed - they just left.

Overall. The boat was out dated, and the rooms couldn’t regulate temperate. There are ant traps in the room you have to avoid. They couldn’t go 1 hour without trying to sell something, to the point I got tired of being asked and started staying in my room. The wet room for snorkeling needs a fan like any other sane boat to try equipment if it's below deck. A small port window is not "airflow" - everything was musty and we took our stuff to the front to lay it out. No one on the boat had a tour so no one knew there was a front deck to sit on.

My “non luxury” Galapagos cruises had refreshments, and either warm towels after water or cold towels to clean your hands after an excursion, in addition to a substantial snack. They all also included at some level juice, wine and beer. This one had a single flavored water station and a small bite that was usually not there only on returning to the boat. It was pathetic- you had to wait in line for a single grape and glass of water freezing after snorkeling, and hope there was some left. The food was okay, if there was any left.

In general the communication leading up to the trip was lacking, and confusing. We were told one thing and then another thing on the boat.

I would never pay or recommend this boat ever again. I’m glad it was the itinerary I wanted.

Hi Becky and Evan,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. I’m truly sorry that your trip did not meet your expectations and that your overall experience was disappointing. I regret that this journey was not what you had hoped for.

That said, I genuinely appreciate your detailed comments, as they help us improve and carefully evaluate the partners we work with.

I would like to gently clarify two points mentioned in your review. As reflected in our message exchange prior to the trip, neither the private transfer nor advanced diving was included in the services booked with us. As discussed, we coordinated the starting point of the cruise we arranged for you at the airport following your first liveaboard, which was booked independently.

In the days leading up to the trip, I was in regular contact and sent several messages to keep you informed that, due to permit regulations, the cruise was not authorized to pick you up at an alternative location. This request was related to allowing time for laundry between cruises. Unfortunately, I did not receive a response at the time, which I assumed was because you were fully enjoying your liveaboard activities. I also shared that laundry services would be available onboard the Galapagos Legend Cruise as an alternative. I wanted to clarify this simply to note that these logistics and options were communicated in advance.

Regarding the diving options requested only one week prior to the cruise, I did explore and propose alternatives such as diving at Mosquera and Daphne. Unfortunately, these options did not align with what you were looking for, and more advanced diving was not possible to arrange due to the very short notice and the lack of prior confirmation required to secure permits and availability. I sincerely apologize if there was any misunderstanding regarding these limitations.

Your detailed feedback regarding the onboard experience has been shared in full with the cruise operator so they can review and address the concerns internally. I want to be transparent in noting that this feedback came as a surprise to our team, as we have recommended this vessel many times in the past without receiving similar concerns. Nonetheless, we truly value your comments, as they allow us to address these matters directly with our partners and ensure standards are upheld.

Once again, I’m very sorry that this trip did not turn out to be the experience you were expecting, and I sincerely appreciate your honest and thoughtful feedback.

Warm regards,
Anthony

I also appreciate your feedback in regards to the number of nights in Quito. We typically suggest Quito as a strategic hub for accommodation due to its central location for day trips to the volcanoes, the Otavalo indigenous market, and the cloud forest. Because these latter two destinations are a bit further out between each other, we suggest in your itinerary to return to sleep those 2 nights afterward to Quito so you can have enough rest and see as much as possible.
Thanks again and I hope you can come back soon to Ecuador.

Anthony put together a once in a lifetime experience for me. He covered it all with carefully thought out detail and stayed diligent in communicating with great frequency. Anthony’s knowledge of the Galapagos was amazing. Both land and underwater, everything was perfect.
Arriving for an overnight stay in Guayaquil and then the next morning off Santa Cruz was simple. Jorge with Link greeted me on my arrival at the airport, escorted me to the hotel, picked me up the next morning and escorted me back to the airport. Jorge stayed with me through the many steps required to gain proper entry to the Galapagos. Upon my return to Guayaquil, Jorge was right there waiting for me. Again, back to the hotel and a pick up the next morning for my final journey back to the USA.
On my arrival to the Galapagos, I was greeted by Rubin with Link. Once through baggage check, a short bus ride and water taxi, we arrived on Santa Cruz Island. A taxi transport and we were off to the Highlands for lunch, that was followed by an incredible tour through the national park that protects the giant tortoises. Rubin, a biologist and naturalist, narrated the incredible history of how the these gentle giants arrived in the Galapagos.. His knowledge was endless, I felt like I was back in college with an inspiring professor. Back to the taxi for our trip to my hotel, but Rubin wasn’t done as he guided me up to the tortoise Darwin research foundation center where my education continued. If you have chance to ask for Rubin, don’t think thing twice, just do it.
Next was my dive experience, all set up by Anthony with Scuba Iguana. I went the morning before my first dive to be outfitted with all my dive gear. Conveniently located , a short 45 second walk from my hotel, Blu Galapagos. The staff was excellent, quickly checked me in and fitted me with all the equipment I needed for the next five days of diving.
The next morning I arrived at 7 AM for a daily briefing and met dive master Santiago Insuasti who would be my guide for 5 consecutive days of 2 dives per day.
Then a taxi to the dive boat where we met the captain and crew. Each dive had its own unique personality and variety of sea creatures that makes the Galapagos a very special place. Sticking with Santiago was a sure thing, as he was first to notice sharks, sea turtles, stingrays, schools of barracuda, octopus, eels and heavy schools of colorful small fish. Videos captured all the days treasures. Everyday underwater can be a good day. Luckily, we had an outstanding dive on Friday, Our dive at Daphne was the best I’ve had in 20 years. It started with 2 white tip sharks laying at the bottom, quickly followed by 2 playful sea lions zooming around us starring in our mask then flipping around and taking off. Then turtles and stingrays, to many to count. An octopus tucked in a rock opening and a green eel sticking his head out. The grand finale was a huge very dense school of small fish, so thick you couldn’t see through them. The kind of dive you didn’t want to end. After all our dives, Santiago patiently helped transfer numerous videos to our phones. Honestly, I’ve never had a master diver like him.
The next morning, it was time to say good bye to Santa Cruz and Galapagos. I was greeted by Gandhi with Link who escorted me via taxi back the airport and made sure all my details were correct for my return to the Ecuador mainland, Guayaquil.
Finally, Anthony with KimKim set all this in motion and it was a flawless execution, exceeding all my expectations.
Thank you Anthony with KimKim and the Link organization.
A special thank you to Santiago Insuasti with Scuba Iguana, who made my underwater experience so captivating.

I’m so glad that Jorge, Rubén, and Gandhi from our Link team were there to take such good care of you every step of the way, and that Santiago and the Scuba Iguana team made your diving experience so memorable. Daphne sounded absolutely incredible!

It was an absolute pleasure to plan this adventure for you, and I’m so happy that every detail came together seamlessly. Your trust in me and in KimKim + Link Experiences is deeply appreciated.

From all of us here in Ecuador and the Enchanted Islands, thank you again, Jim.
