Day 2: Toca do Lobo - Capim Amarelo Peak

Enjoy the wonderful views as you hike along narrow ridges

Start your mountain adventure at the Toca do Lobo Cave — an old mining shelter. Cross a river. And then start climbing through low brush into the mountains. Along the way, you'll find magnificent valley and farmland views. Continue to the Capim Amarelo Summit — your campsite for the night.

Day 3: Capim Amarelo Peak - Pedra da Mina Peak

The lush valleys of the Serra da Mantiqueira Mountains

On your second morning of trekking, make your way to the Maracanã clearing, then follow the trail to Pedra da Mina — the fourth highest peak in Brazil. Enjoy a 360-degree view of the entire region and the satisfaction that comes with climbing such an impressive peak as you make camp for the night here at the summit.

Hiking distance: 5.5 miles

Day 4: Pedra da Mina - 3-States Peak Camp

Dirt road in the Serra da Mantiqueira Mountains

Rise early and enjoy the sunrise from the summit — known as one of the most beautiful in Brazil — before starting your descent toward the Peak of the Three States. Here you'll find the meeting point of three Brazilian state borders (São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and Minas Gerais). Continue on to Serra Fina Crossing where you'll camp for the night.
