We were particularly impressed with our hosts in Inari who own the Lapin Tintti Eco-Cabin. Terri and Arto were fabulous hosts providing us with a wonderful place to stay and a terrific ice fishing experience. They treated us like family. We would love to go back and spend more time with them. This i a beautiful cabin in the woods. We cooked our meals, and sat on the deck being part of nature. This is one of the best places I have ever stay in. We had privacy in the solitude of Lan Land, viewing Northern Lights and enjoying nature.

* printed copy of the itinerary very useful

* transportation company Taksi Hirsikangas was excellent, punctual, drivers are courteous and had good vehicle.

* Accommodation

1) Artic light hotel, even though they are 5*, the breakfast buffet was abundant , the room was shabby and not clean, only because when I was looking for my socks and realized underneath the bed was full of dirt.
Also, there is no English Channel TV?
2) Elite Hotel Frost, clean and nice
3) Arctic Skylight Lodge, simple like camp, not much amenities
4) Break Sonos Hotel Levi, very nice

* Activities

1) Ice fishing and sauna, had to wait inside the room 45mins before it started to get warm, not so professional
2) Ice floating, waiting for the bus more than an hour each way, the guide’s instructions were clear not to kick water by foot, unfortunately, there were several youngsters who didn’t understand the English instructions, so many kids kicking, the water penetrated to my neck, I got very cold and yelled for help, it was not a good experience.
3) Article snow hotel, presentation was good, too much time to visit each room, ice dinners also too long
4) Northern lights tour, the van was so cold and uncomfortable, the guide spoke to the passengers next to hee with loud voices, not to mention we did not see the northern light, the whole experience was disappointed
5) Sami culture, they were more than 30 minutes late, they picked us up , dropped off in their office, then they were going to pick up another 11 travelers, end up 3+hours late. By the time when we were back to hotel was 8 pm, glad nothing was planned thereafter
6) artic glass cabin was very nice, but we didn’t enjoy enough of the cabin, when we arrived at 1.30 pm putting on winter clothing it was the time to meet the Janka , we have to put on our heavy clothes then wait for pick up, by the time when we started the snowmobile it was almost 4, after that sauna and then dinner, we had to snowmobile back to the office, by the time we arrived at the lodge almost 12am, had no time to enjoy the cabin …not organized at all
7)snow shoeing was ok

I do appreciate all the confirmation for hotels and activities, just the operators of some activities were not so professional.

Hello Wendy,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. I'm truly sorry to hear that some parts of the trip did not meet your expectations.

Just to clarify, Arctic Light Hotel is a 4.5-star property rather than a 5-star hotel, but it is one of the most highly rated hotels in Rovaniemi and many of our guests have had wonderful stays there. Their breakfast is also very well known locally and often considered one of the best in the city, so it was quite surprising to hear that it did not fully meet your expectations.

Regarding the tour timings, I did mention earlier that in Lapland schedules can sometimes vary. Many activities depend on weather conditions, other guests in the group, and general winter circumstances, so the times listed in the itinerary are usually estimates rather than exact durations. That said, I’m sorry to hear that some of the tours lasted a lot longer than expected, and I will check with the providers to understand what may have caused the delays.

I would also like to mention that you originally had two nights planned in the glass cabins, which would have allowed more time to enjoy that experience. As per your request, one of those nights was changed to a regular hotel stay, which naturally reduced the time spent there.

Thank you again for your feedback. We truly appreciate hearing about your experience and will follow up with the activity providers as mentioned.

I joined only for a portion of a trip that a friend had planned. The 2 activities that I joined were a bit mixed. The Northern Lights safari entailed very long drives to see very little of the Northern Lights. We had a slow start because some fellow travellers were late, and this entailed missing the lights. Sigh... The dog sled outing was much more successful, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I lost my water bottle during this outing, and Emerson went out of his way to retrieve it for me. So thank you for that. Overall, Emerson was very attentive and helpful.

Thank you for your feedback. I’m glad to hear you enjoyed the dog sledding experience, and I was happy I could help retrieve your water bottle.

I’m sorry the Northern Lights safari didn’t fully meet your expectations. As with all aurora tours, sightings depend on weather and solar activity, and the timing can sometimes be affected by the group.

I appreciate your kind words about my attentiveness and hope you still have some good memories from your time in Lapland.

We can’t say enough wonderful things about the trip to Finland (with a side trip to Estonia) that Emerson organized for our family. Simply put, Emerson was the hero of our trip. Our flight to Helsinki was cancelled, and then our return flight home was delayed by a blizzard in the U.S., but Emerson immediately sprang into action. He quickly reworked our itinerary and helped minimize the additional costs caused by the delays, turning what could have been a very stressful situation into something completely manageable.

Emerson's communication was outstanding from start to finish. He responded quickly to every message and always provided thoughtful, detailed answers to our (sometimes silly!) questions during the planning process. When our flights were cancelled and we were sending panicked WhatsApp messages, he stayed calm, responsive, and incredibly helpful. We truly can’t thank him enough for his professionalism, competence, and kindness; he was an absolute pleasure to work with and genuinely saved the trip (and our sanity!).

The trip itself was fantastic. The hotels Emerson selected were perfect for our family, including a “bonus hotel” (Home Hotel Jugend) that we needed during our unexpected extended stay. The tours were excellent -- especially the dogsledding and Northern Lights tour led by Niko from Johka.fi, which were both truly unforgettable. All of the transfers were smooth and perfectly on time. My husband wasn’t the biggest fan of the overnight train to Kemijärvi, but the kids thought it was a great adventure.

Our hotel in Pyhä (Kurula’s Resort) was wonderful. While the walk into town was a bit long, the weather was beautiful and the road passed a public sledding hill that quickly became a highlight for our family. The warming hut at the base made it extra special because we had fun roasting hot dogs and marshmallows over the fire.

The kids also loved visiting the amethyst mine, and the dinner after our snowmobiling tour was outstanding—especially the moose soup. Estonia was a fantastic addition as well: the ferry ride was relaxing, the tour of Tallinn with Jonas from Estadventures was fascinating, and the city itself is absolutely gorgeous.

This was truly an unforgettable trip for our family, and Emerson played a huge role in making it such a success. We recommend kimkim and Emerson wholeheartedly to anyone planning a trip to the region.

The tours that were planned included a good variety of local history and landmarks (both in Helsinki and Estonia) and outdoor active adventures (like snowmobiling, dogsledding, snowshoeing). It was great to not have to think about getting uber rides to and from the tours or the airport for pickup-- everything was ready and made the trip so much more relaxing. Additionally, breakfast was included each morning, another cognitive offload that was nice.

The dogsledding and reindeer tours, as well as the snowmobiling, were highlights of the trip. These excursion were immersive, and we felt like you truly had plenty of time to experience the activity, as opposed to ones we have had (for example on an alaskan cruise during port excurisions) that are rushed and truncated. You felt like you got a full experience and left feeling thrilled and fulfilled.

We will definitely be using Kim Kim in the future, and thank Emerson for such a wonderfully planned vacation. We will cherish those memories for a lifetime!

We were lucky and had a private tour for this adventure which was great. It was nice to be active and outside! The coolest part of the excursion however was stopping in a local teepee type tent and our guide telling stories about his family and the local Sami people, and a bit about historic Finnish culture, while enjoying a warm drink. It was great!

We lucked out and ended up having just my husband and I on the tour, which was a pleasant surprise. This allowed great individualized time with the guide, who was so very friendly and fun. When I was a little hesitant about driving my own snowmobile, he was encouraging and his positivity convinced me-- I'm so glad I drove my own and had the BEST time doing it! While it was cloudy this night and we didn't see any northern lights, we had ample opportunity the remainder of the trip to make up for it.

This was the only tour that did not stand out as amazing for us on our trip. We drove around the local area and the guide pointed out Finnish homes and a small old village, as well as local natural landmarks--the lakes, etc. We took a quick trip to the top of the Pyha ski resort by lift, and stopped at the small visitor center just before closing. The guide was very friendly and nice, I just don't think this added too much to our experience of the area. (I may have mistakenly gone into this tour thinking we would get more about the Sami culture, history of the world wars in the area, etc., and it was more just a local drive). Pleasant and relaxing, just nothing remarkable.

The activities that were set up for us were great and the people affiliated with each activity were also exceptional. All of us thoroughly enjoyed the food and meeting the local people in each destination. All of my family also recognizes that we did not plan this trip until only a few weeks before and I know that complicated Emerson‘s job trying to coordinate everything and lineup accommodations and activities so he deserves special credit. At the end of the trip, during our stay in Tromse there was apparently a mixup with our two rooms in the hotel that I had hoped would have been resolved differently, but other than that, no issues or problems during our two week adventure in Finland and in Norway. I would strongly recommend Emerson of Kim Kim for trip planning especially in Scandinavian countries. Thank you.

Food was excellent, and the staff were very nice and helpful. However, of the accommodation needs upgrading. The mattresses on the beds were too soft and probably very old . They could use more shelf space. had for sure better beds. That said, anyone reading this review who does not know the island of Senja must realize how tall it is, and further understand, retaining the charm of the old buildings.

It’s historical significance and the charm, culture, and the people working in the hotel and also affiliated with the activities that we did there. Special recognition to our guide guides, Alex and Noel, but I’m sure I’m not spelling his name right.

I small bit disappointed that I wasn't able to witness the Northern Lights but I completely understand that viewing them is not 100% guaranteed. Unfortunately for me, the day of my tour the weather was very over cast and foggy. I truly appreciate the tour guide at Beyond Arctic for driving around and trying to find the lights despite the weather. While one spot did seem promising, it was close to -30 degrees outside. The photos taken may not be with the lights, they are still beautiful and memorable. I would still book with Beyond Arctic when I return in my second attempt in viewing the lights :)

The only time it was a bit of a hiccup was when the Artic Snow Hotel was to have a shuttle pick us up and it did not arrive, when I called they said they would call us back with an update. With no call back, I tried calling again and they said I would need to get a taxi. They paid for the taxi, but it was a bit strange to have such a lack of communication from them. All other excursions booked either came promptly when they said they were coming and/or confirmed the night before. There was a perfect amount of excursions for the day and still time to enjoy the amenities of the accommodations. The only thing that would have been nice to know or have a better understanding was the proximity of each stay to the city centers. Any shopping or dining was limited to what each stay had to offer. We could have called a taxi, but it gets a bit pricey to have to do that each time. Thankfully for us it was a minor setback and we managed just fine for the most part. Regardless we had a splendid time and thought Kimkim did and excellent job planning our trip.

Hello Donnie,

Thank you so much for your thoughtful feedback. I’m really glad to hear that overall you had a wonderful trip and that most of the arrangements ran smoothly.

I’m very sorry about the issue with the Arctic SnowHotel transfer and the lack of communication there. That’s certainly not the standard we expect from our partners, and I will follow up with them directly to see what happened.

Thank you as well for your comments about the accommodation locations and distances to city centres. That’s very helpful feedback, and I’ll make sure to highlight this more clearly in future itineraries so expectations are set in advance.

I also appreciate you sharing your experience at the reindeer farm. I’m sorry it didn’t fully meet expectations in terms of guidance and engagement, and I’ll pass this on to the provider so they can improve the experience for future guests.

Regarding the Northern Lights tour, the timings are always approximate and can vary depending on weather conditions and aurora activity. That's why we also added this info to your trip plan: "The tour duration may vary based on weather conditions and aurora activity." I'm sorry if for some reason you missed this information on your itinerary.

Thank you again for travelling with us and for taking the time to share all of this. I’m really happy to hear you still had a great time overall.

All the best,

The adventures were great (husky sledding, reindeer safari, and very authentic sauna). Walking tours in Helsinki (tour guide Ruslan) and in Tallinn were fun and very informative. Transfers were easy and very timely. The overnight train from Helsinki to Rovaniemi was fun. We would highly recommend Emerson and KimKim for travel. They have many destinations and we will use them again in the future.

She really tailored the whole itinerary around the things we wanted to do and see. She also gave great recommendations for activities and accommodations. It was incredibly easy to plan our trip thanks to Moonika. Once we arrived in Tallinn, our first destination, everything ran incredibly smoothly. All of our transfers arrived on time, all our tickets/passes had been pre-loaded in the app and ready to go, it was all so easy. Moonika checked in during our trip to make sure everything was going well and communicated with us about any disruptions or changes. We had such an amazing trip to Tallinn and the Lapland region and Moonika played an integral role in all of it. If you’re thinking of traveling to the Baltics or Lapland, you should definitely work with Moonika. You will not be disappointed and will be rewarded with an awesome trip.

Aurora Village
Ivalo

We really enjoyed our stay at the Aurora Village. The igloo was roomy and comfortable. The staff were all incredibly nice and helpful. They provide you with a set of thick, warm overalls for any activity you might do. The restaurant and bar had great food and service. There is a little lounge area that was perfect for playing games during our down time. The hotel has lots of activities that they are happy to arrange for you. If you want to into town, the hotel has a shuttle available for a small charge or they will call you a taxi. When we were done in town, I called the front desk and they contacted a taxi to pick us up. We will definitely be returning!

This hotel was incredible! It had a ton of charm and was so nice and cozy. It is conveniently located in the old town and within walking distance to many tourist areas and restaurants. The staff was great, especially Patrick who made us smile every time we saw him. The room was one of the nicest rooms we have ever stayed in, perfectly combined old world charm with modern conveniences. We only ate breakfast at the hotel, but it was very good with lots of options and great service.

This is easily one of the coolest things I have ever done! We loved dog sledding! This location actually raises and trains dogs for actual competition sledding so the dogs are very well taken care of and looked after. We received thorough instructions on how to control the sled prior to heading out. The trails go through some really spectacular scenery and it’s actually pretty quiet and smooth on the sled. The tour stopped at a cozy hut where our guide prepared soup and hot beverages. During the excursion, she gave plenty of guidance on difficult areas of the trail, downhills, uphills, sharp turns, etc. the dogs are also really friendly and you have an opportunity to pet them. This is definitely a must-do activity if you go to the Ivalo area.

This was such a fun experience! Emmi was our guide and we had a blast with her. We were fortunate in that the schedule worked out so that it was just my wife and I on the adventure. Emmi tailored the whole experience to us and it couldn’t have been more fun. The scenery was stunningly beautiful and the stop at the cafe was a nice, cozy break. Emmi even talked to other guides about the conditions of the trails for the return and picked what she felt would be the safest and most picturesque way back. Thank you Emmi for a great snowmobile adventure.

All of our guides for our tours were fantastic! Iga (Reindeer Tour), Sanni (Northern Lights Tour), and Cecilia(?) (Horse Sleigh Tour), and Mark (Ranua Wildlife Park). I'm sorry to have missed the photography tour as the Ranua park took a lot out of me to make the parts we did make.

The overall itineray was awesome! Transfers, Hotels, Trains -- from pickup in Rovaniemi and delivery to Helsinski airport was great! Of course with any itinerary as complex as ours, there are bound to be hiccups. None were so bad that would degrade how we feel the overall trip went.

Hiccups with maybe more transparency or info? Use of VR app, FAQ how the train would work, FAQ how to get taxi and other local transport for any of our side adventures, etc.

Fantastic staff! They got is checked in and informed us our breakfast bags will be ready in the morning. Never had to ask. We were there for just an overnight stay and the room was unbelievable. Quaint and quiet to get a great night sleep before our early morning departure to catch our flight. Definitely would enjoy staying there again!

Nice and comfortable. Great touch with a private sauna in the room. Was a little cold being outside of the hotel proper. We had a few bags and was difficult to get to room on checkin and bags to lobby on checkout. Food was FANTASTIC! We were totally excited and were tastefully surprised. Dining room as awesome but very cold by the glass. Heat was a little light and definitely needed the provided blankets to be near the glass for the amazing night views.

Both ladies (forget their names correctly) were exceptionally accommodating with our group. Talked about the history behind the Finnish Horses and our horse that was pulling the sleigh. Nice stories. We were lucky and the 2nd night in a row, we saw Northern Lights. Activity was too fast and in the middle of snowing -- no good pictures.
