We had a great guide in Jordan. He was a true historian. Our driver was also super nice- The car was a bit tight but did not dampen our enthusiasm. We also had excellent guides in Istanbul and Cappadocia.
In retrospect our itinary was quite packed and our children were a bit tired of moving almost everyday.
Thank you for an unforgettable trip. read more

Decent hotel, but room was a little tired and also we had issues with toilet flushing - it did not have enough power and water so it clogged at some point. Good hotel, but a little bit too crowded - especially at breakfast, In 2 days we were not able to get a capuchins at breakfast - we asked but they said they don’t have - for a 5 star hotel I don’t think this is acceptable. Another issue was the beach - it was not well prepared - especially the entrance in the water - based on the layout there is a lot of work which needs to be done to bring the beach at 5 star hotel level.

Luxury in the middle of desert! Very clean even if remote location and high turnout of travellers (most travellers stay 1 night) makes keeping cleanliness difficult. Too many beggars - government should not allow them inside Petra site. You have to constantly fend off or hassle with beggars. We had a great experience with our short but action-backed trip to Jordan planned with Samir and KimKim. The trip was tailored exactly to the itinerary that we had requested which allowed us to make the most of our time. I particularly appreciated the team’s flexibility to emphasize certain parts of the plan as well as flexibility to upgrade certain lodging options when that seemed appropriate. Our driver and guide for the week was a great resource at navigating the country and also learning lots of the local culture along the way.

Our only snag came with a booking in Wadi Rum that I believe resulted more from the eco lodge getting overbooked but made for a slight deviation of plan.

Overall incredible experience and look forward to using the team again in the future.

Once we landed we were greeted by our guide and they made everything so easy and truly felt like a VIP. We arrived in Cairo and our driver and guide were amazing and fun. Khaled and our driver Ha were the best. We had a busy itinerary and all our transfers and guides were helpful. The only thing we would not advise is the sleeping train to Luxor from Cairo, not the company's fault, but it was something I thought would be fun but was very tiny. Everything else was a breeze. Our last driver in Jordan Mohammad was a star and very cool and made us feel so comfortale.

Memorable:
Cairo Pyramids - we stayed at Marriott. Loved it
Luxor Temples - amazing at night
Abu Simbel was remarkable - WOW! We had it all to ourselves and the drive there was an experience.
Jordan was cool and loved the music
Petra was a dream come true and is a full day and ALOT of walking.
Wadi Rum was my fav and fun. We stayed at UFO Luxotel and did 4x4 jeeps in Wadi Rum
Dead Sea was fun.

Jordan is an amazing country. Our guide, Akram, was the perfect person to show us the country. He was pleasant, knowledgeable, accommodating and the nicest most gentle man. This place is one of (if not the) most architecturally beautiful buildings in East Jerusalem. It is also conveniently located close to the Old City, great dining locations, and tour group meeting spots. The rooms were simple, but more than adequate. The breakfast each morning was one of the better ones we had.

We picked this place because the website implied they had self-service laundry. They don't - this service stopped because of COVID so we had to find a place, but that worked out fine.

I recently did a five-day trip to Jordan as part of a group of four people with Nader as our driver. The trip was a great success due in no small way to having Nader as our driver and guide.

We were met promptly at the airport in Amman and all paperwork was completed without complication. From our first meeting, and throughout the entire trip, Nader was well informed and forthcoming on the history, geography, the general political landscape of the Middle East and current societal norms in Jordan. We felt immediately welcome and safe with Nader.

Our vehicle was comfortable, drinks were always available and Nader went out of his way to make sure that we tasted the best snacks and food that Jordan has to offer.

Checking in to each night’s accommodation was seamless due to Nader’s attention to every detail. He was there each morning waiting for us, and did not leave at night until we were fully settled in, and plans for the next day were clarified.

Nader’s warmth, sense of fun and desire to please added an extra layer to the trip which we, as a family group, really appreciated. Our memories are so much more than the amazing places that we visited because of Nader’s contribution. I would highly recommend Nader as a driver/guide and I thank him for making our holiday the wonderful success that it was.

I also thank the Samir and the tour company. Samir proposed an excellent itinerary, which covered all the sites we wanted to see, and was flexible in accommodating any requests for changes.

In addition, he showed us the perfect places to eat, helped us to connect with the locals and local culture and taught us so much about Jordan. I would highly recommend Emad without a doubt.
Overall an excellent trip and a great experience.

On this trip, my wife and I visited Amman (of course) Jerash, the Dead Sea, Petra, Wadi Rum and Aqaba.

Overall, we really enjoyed the trip, the organization of it by the local specialist, Samir, and the driving and company of Majd, our main driver throughout the trip.

Interacting with Jordanians was wonderful. They are so kind, helpful and welcoming. We were asked multiple times per day, by many people, whether we liked Jordan.

It was also interesting to see the range of hand-made goods for sale, from woven Bedouin cloth and handmade knives to the mosaic work.

Fantastic location by the edge of the Dead Sea. We did not go for the resort experience but, rather, to spend some time in and beside the Dead Sea. The hotel had multiple options for eating as well as room service, of course. We upgraded our room to one which had a balcony overlooking the Sea which made our evening at the hotel that much more pleasant.

Tips for future travelers

Ask for a room with a balcony on a higher floor, overlooking the Sea.

No complaints regarding the accommodations en route. The food was good , we are not meat eaters but we could always find fish or veggie dishes. Wine was good too , when available.

If I had more time I would spend two days in Wadi Rum taking a jeep ride. Also, if I had more time, I would have spent two full days in Petra as opposed to the one day we had. Petra is just too big to properly see in one day. Overall, this was a memorable trip for all of us.

Overall all the timings and logistics all went to plan and it was a well-put together schedule. Our guide for the week Bassam was great - he clearly enjoys being a guide and telling people about Jordan and showing them a few extra places and things they wouldn't find by themselves. He was also a very safe driver. We didn't feel rushed at all and the trip felt relaxed, even though we only spent 1-2 nights in each location. This trip lived up to our expectations and thanks again to Samir and Bassam.

Everyone we interacted with was 5 star++. Each individual really ensured that we experienced everything we had on our list, and there was a bonus...each made sure that we had the opportunity to see/do things we hadn't even thought to mention. Special shout outs to: Bassam our entertaining and dedicated driver who took really good care of us during our six day stay; Nad, our extremely knowledgeable guide who so patiently attended to a myriad of questions at Jerash; Basil, who made sure we got the very most out of our day in Petra; Mustafa, who effortlessly managed our bumpy start due to a split arrival; Samir, who pulled the whole trip together with apparent (at least to us) ease.
Highlights of the trip? Oh, there were so many: "Wheel of Fortune" in Arabic on the hotel television; the well-preserved ruins of Jerash; the Citadel overlooking Amman; a traditional Jordanian meal in Amman's bustling city center; the exquisite mosaics and ancient history in the area of Madaba and Mount Nebo; Petra by candlelight; trekking all of Petra by day; the entire Wadi Rum experience (the beauty of the desert, accommodations in "bubbles" and oh...the delicious entrees and preparation); becoming familiar with Bedouin culture; the incredible Dead Sea; the beauty of the region as viewed during our daily drives.
What a truly special - and extraordinary - experience! Deep gratitude to all who made it so!

Of course I have returned from Jordan with memories of an incredible experience. This was wholly due to my companions and attentive and responsive guide, Nader. I enjoyed the experience of the pre-travel planning on the kimkim platform. I appreciated having access to a shared itinerary too.
My recommendations: Nader our guide should and could have been the welcoming agent. The welcome agent was pleasant but unsure the purpose of this introduction. We asked where to eat on our first evening and told to walk in a certain direction to many restaurants. This was not the case. We walked across 6 lanes of traffic to only one offering for food. We didn’t see Amman that evening this was an oversight. The souq the ruins traditional Jordanian women clothing could have been seen.
Once Nader was actioned and arrived at the hotel on day 2, the adventures began.
He is interesting and interested in his clients. He assessed our knowledge and needs throughout the trip, responding with information and experiences that added another layer of value to the trip.
Accommodation: night 1 and 2 fine. Wadi Rum accommodation excellent! Petra hotel was cold and toilet broken. Hotel was very shabby. But staff were responsive and made immediate repairs. Final nights were in a hotel which was cold again no extra bedding on request as staff were at home I believe. Breakfast was outstanding but coffee undrinkable.
Tours: I only want to mention Petra guide. He was very patient and very quiet. More information was shared going around petra sights. We then took pre arranged walk through back door as it was called. This was where problems started and confidence in the group dropped. We traversed around dangerous rocks and mountainside. The guide clearly got lost at times, calling out to a passing bedouin boy for directions. The hike/climb got very dangerous in parts and we ladies had to use our experience to support each other. Three times the guide was asked to slow down and walk at the pace of the slowest. Many times he was asked to keep us updated but he didn’t. Many times we had no internet connection and not able to connect with Nader. Once we could we felt assured that someone was looking out for us.
I want to highly commend Nader individually as a guide, an experienced human who purpose was to deliver a trip to Jordan we will never forget. Nader is solution focused and no request was too much. Please acknowledge him in your organisation as a lead guide. Thank you

The tour was flexible and responsive to our needs and last-minute changes. In advance of the tour the Kim Kim dashboard provided us with a clear idea of what we would see and do, as well as what we could expect from the hotels. The dashboard is a good communication clearinghouse as well for three participants in different parts of the globe to prepare in advance their tour. We requested a moderately priced tour and that is what was delivered. The weather was exceptional and made for perfect hiking conditions which is what we did most days. I wish we had had more time in Jerash, Amman - but we spent too much time enjoying the Ajloun forest hiking... Wadi Rum hospitality was great, and the places and spaces are magical. I appreciated our cook and our bedouin guide at Enjoy camp. The boulder-climbing/hiking at Dana Reserve was an experience we won't forget at all. Petra... Totally amazing. We hiked 20 km that day, then returned for the evening candlelilght (2more Km). The candlelight evening was another magical experience -- even if touristy, the place is redolent with mystique and deep history. Jordanians are so hospitable and rightly proud of their magnificent heritage sites. We felt safe everywhere we went, and at the same time felt we were out on an adventure beyond the average.

The Hotel Kempinski was wonderful, recommendation from the driver to dive with Aqaba Shark diving and Talal was a wonderful experience. Thanks.
The driver that picked me up for my flight back to Amman arrived early, had not been to the airport in over 2 years so not quite sure where to go. He dropped me in a parking spot from where I could not see an entrance. There was nothing happening. The first set of doors that I found, no one there, the nest set were locked. Finally, I followed another van coming in and walked to where they were and found the departures entrance. Nothing was open. I was picked up at 3:15 pm for a 6:25 pm flight and the airport was not even staffed until after 5:15pm. I should have stayed at the hotel and I should have had a driver that knew where the entrance was. I realize that tourism is just reopening but I do think that these two things could easily be improved. Thanks for organizing, thanks for listening. I very much enjoyed my 11 days in Jordan.

From the time of my first contact with Oriana to the end everything was perfect and our trip was a memorable one. Oriana was very patient and meticulous in helping us plan a perfect trip for us. Esam was absolutely wonderful, he was friendly, full of excellent suggestions and very flexible . Esam went above and beyond at every juncture and we as a family appreciated all that he did for us in making our Jordan holiday a memorable one. I would highly recommend Esam.
All the tour guides were wonderful too and very knowledgeable… Ebrahim at Jarash, Ashraf at Petra were really good., so was the tour guide in Wadi Rum jeep safari. Amman city tour, Jarash, Salt, Mount Nebo, Madaba, Dead Sea, Petra, Wadi Rum and Aqaba were all part of our tour of Jordan, each place was unique and special in its own way. Esam made it easy as well through his suggestions and recommendations. It’s hard for us to choose the most memorable place as every place was stunning and unique so I would say the whole trip was absolutely fantastic. Thank you Oriana and Esam and all the tour guides for mdd as long it special for us.,

From the moment I landed, someone was there for me at the airport to walk me through customs and at the end of my trip, the same thing. Several times during the trip, Sherif and his local associated contacted me to make sure all was well and to see if I had any issues. Of course, I had none. And they came through like champs to help me get a covid test to enable me to re-enter the United States.

Mahmoud was my driver for the entire trip -- he is a great friendly guy and speak/understands English very well. At several locations, like Jerash, Petra and Wadi Rum, guides were also provided, who were knowledgeable and spoke/understood English very well. I should also add that the hotels/resorts supplied as part of the trip were top notch.

I fit a lot in, but my trip included the eastern desert castles, Amman (the Citadel and markets), Jerash, Aljoun castle, Mt. Nebo, Madaba, Karak castle, Little Petra, Petra, Wadi Rum, Aquaba and the Dead Sea.

The bottom line -- this was a great trip, which would not have been possible without my great tour guides/service. So if you thinking about Jordan, you should contact them. You won't be sorry.

I had never been to Jordan, but after some research went for Kimkim. Went with them and Sara(h) was the agent.

She is outstanding. organised an outstanding trip, form collection in Israel to dropping off back in Israel. Great suggestions too. Definitely will recommend her to anyone going to Jordan and Petra. Stayed in a Bedouin camp near Little Petra which was very good, and a lot cheaper than the overpriced hotels in Petra as well.

After we finalized the plan and paid for the trip, she continued to provide assistance via email as we prepared for our Jordan adventure.

Our drivers, Jamal the first day and Medhet the other four days, were very professional and accommodating. They always arrived on time (early, in fact) to pick us up, and were eager to help in any way possible. In fact, when I left my phone in Medhet's car one evening, he made a special trip to our hotel to return it that night.

Our 5-day tour included Al Maghtas on the Jordan River (the baptism site of Jesus), the Dead Sea, Petra, Wadi Rum, Amman, and Jerash. Petra was the most amazing and impressive attraction, but we would highly recommend visiting all of them. In particular, Jerash was much larger and more interesting than we had anticipated, so it was a special treat to go there on our last day and carry that memory home with us.

If we were planning the trip again, I think we would want to spend 2 days at Petra (making a total of 6 days in Jordan). The extra day at Petra would allow time to explore more of this very extensive site, and also permit spending more time in the museum at Petra, which is by far the best museum we have seen in our visits to Middle Eastern and African countries.

My questions were not treated as too silly, no request for added extras too difficult and I felt like I was the only client going to Jordan that week.
With on exception, from the time our driver, Hasan, met us at the airport until we left every bit of the trip was as I had hoped. The hotels were great, Wadi Rum and Petra hadn't changed much in 20+ years and are still stunning. Our guides were knowledgeable and informed us in different ways. And glueing the whole trip together was Hasan who drove us from place to place, stopping on request for breaks, photo opportunities and all the while telling us about his country. Fantastic guy.
The exception? The weather. It is not controlled by Kimkim or in2jordan so the rainy desert tour was a new experience.
Great trip. Fantastic service by everyone involved. Thank you.

I had a great time in Jordan. The driver's personalities were great and love what they do. I can't say that what we got was different than what another tour company could have provided though. I booked my own hotels so it was essentially boiled down to a car service. Sarah was incredibly responsive. The drivers were on time 100% of the time. It would have been nice to have a SIM card provided like my Egypt tour gave. Or provided A Jordanian delicacy on arrival as a welcome gift. Or something more to make it stand out. On the way back we went to see some of those other tombs on the hill and saw a sign for a trail to go see the treasury from the highest point. This was so worth the extra couple miles of walking. On the first day, the tour of Amman and Jerash...I had no idea what to expect of the sites we would see. The biggest surprise was the Aljoun Castle. On our way to Wadi Musa our driver, Ahmad, took us to “little Petra” and joked about a surprise and it was a stop to see a boulder formation that looked like an elephant. Ahmad had snacks for us in the car along with water. That was fun. Both drivers stopped at rest areas so we could get out, use the restrooms, grab a snack, and maybe a souvenir. The short stay in Wadi Rum was great. We had a desert tour (also suggested by Sarah) that was so much fun. Our guide for this was fun with his driving and taking us on a route that gave us quiet time from other tourists at some of the stops. Mt Nebo and the Baptism site were well worth it also. For the Dead Sea day, Sarah has booked us a room at a hotel that had a private beach and that made everything so easy. This was the thing I had been looking forward to the most. I have been intrigued by the Dead Sea since I was a small child when I saw it in a book of natural wonders of the world. I know I missed a thing or two, but Jordan, our drivers, the locals, and the sites we saw all exceeded our expectations. This was an absolutely amazing experience!!

Another issue was the store I was brought to buy souvenirs next to Mount Nebo (the usual touristic shop who happens to be "friends" with guides) where I bought this mosaic for FIVE TIMES the price I happened to find a few minutes later in another place (not sure if it is the exact same thing but it seemed quite similar).

Jordan is a beautiful and expensive country. Not sure if I would ever visit again but I've enjoyed it.

She gave us personal stories, histories, and my kids (ages 6 and 8) loved her so very much--she was able to make it adult AND kid friendly (not an easy task). The country of Israel/Palestine is beautiful and full of rich heritages. We enjoyed terrific food at Black Pepper in Bethlehem and we also enjoyed a wonderful lunch at an Austrian joint in the Old City. The tour buses in the area were no issue for our guide as she knew her way through the cities and through the lines! We were able to see and visit all the holy sites as well as many other sites (like Banksy's paintings). We highly recommend KimKim travel and Carmen as a specialist. We were able to check this amazing experience off our bucket list and have all the pictures to remember this special place because of KimKim travel. Thank you all so much!

Wadi Rum spectacular - like Monument Valley but 10 times bigger!
BBG Lunch in the desert shade allowed time to reflect on my trip.

He stopped at a Resturant for us to get some lunch, and then we went onto Little Petra, which was well worth the visit.
Our over night hotel was the Petra Marriott, it was nice although it was a few miles outside of Petra itself.
The next morning was an early start to meet our guide at Petra. It was very worth while having him, as his knowledge was outstanding.
We left to head to the Wadi desert and stayed at Aicha Memories luxury camp. This was lovely. There is no WiFi, and to be able to switch off from the pressures of business and day to day life was fantastic. We had a drive through the desert to see the sunset, and at night a walk into the desert to star gaze.
We left early the next day, the original plan was to go to Jerash. However, the afore mentioned tyre blow out, along with myself being ill, made us change our plans and we went into Amman. Midhat took us to the Citadel and Ampitheatre, both well worth visiting. The views from the Citadel over Amman city are very good.
We stayed at the Intercontinental hotel, and that was also very good.
We will, I’m sure, be back as this was too fleeting a visit to see it all!

I'd recommend both of them. Our guide in Jerusalem was called Jacob, but he also has a Palestinian name. Fantastic, and super knowledgeable about all the places we went. I have his name to recommend to anyone I know who will be coming to Jordan.

The hotels were all fine, the best ones being in Jerusalem and Haifa. That said, the food in general in Jordan and Israel was not fabulous. Maybe we should have asked for better hotels, but that is certainly not your fault. We realize that hotels have to consider that their guests come from all over the world and it's impossible to please everyone. The best restaurant in Jordan was the one Hassan took us to in Jerash, owned by someone he knew. It was lovely with fountains and a great menu. The food in Wadi Rum at the place we stayed was also good. The neighborhood in Haifa was delightful and lots of good restaurants nearby, I wish we'd spent another day there. Next time...

I will certainly recommend your company if I have any friends who are traveling to your region. I also see that you do tours in other parts of the world, too, and will keep that in mind for the future, as I still plan on traveling even after both of us got sick and had such a long, agonizing trip home with lots of layovers, etc. Again, not your fault, just bad luck. Thanks again for your kind and helpful suggestions and we have great memories of Jerash, Wadi Rum, the Dead Sea, Dana, and of course Petra. Our guides at Dana and Petra back door were also excellent. Your country has so much history and stark beauty I think your tourism numbers will improve. Jordan seemed very safe while being surrounded by turmoil in all directions. Good luck in the future, and thanks again, Lena!

Sincerely,
Kim and Bob McGregor

"My cooking lesson was an A+ !
It was a pleasure to have dinner with Nesreen and Osama and their beautiful, sweet children. They provided not just a generous and warm example of Jordanian hospitality, but also an enjoyable loving, family experience. I learned how to cook traditional Maglouba with Nesreen who is a force of nature with a stunning smile. She exudes joy, happiness and the essence of motherhood. My cooking lesson was decorated with cardamom brewed coffee, family experiences and Arabic lessons. Eight year old Zain smiled shyly and helped when asked to and one and a half year old mischief maker Cadi (whose name means white flower on the mountain) pushed the kitchen chair around, walked around in my shoes and enjoyed herself dancing while mommy sang and clapped. Dave and I had a priceless experience and I learned to watch Nesreen’s left hand fold and tuck the parsley and mint as she chopped and about a new vegetable Jarjeel, water lettuce! I recommend this cooking lesson experience highly." Sherrin Bernstein

Planning a trip to Jordan is quite a daunting task. It was also going to be our honeymoon so the pressure was on!

My partner and I aren't the most organised people in the world, so we only started to look into planning our trip a couple of months before our wedding. Unsurprisingly, this was a very busy time for us...!

As soon as got in touch via kimkim, Amanda immediately took on the burden of honeymoon planning. She was efficient, and it comforted me to know that she was based in Jordan. She listened and delivered on our requirements, always with a great attitude. What's more, when she found out it was our honeymoon, she seemed genuinely enthused and motivated to make sure our trip was extra special.

We also found all the documentation super helpful - the detailed schedules, the maps etc.

Her attentiveness did not stop once we arrived in Jordan. Amanda made a point of checking in with us at all the right times. Each time we spoke, she was not only professional, she was friendly and personable. Thanks to her, we even managed to get a hotel room upgrade at our hotel in Amman (House Boutique Suites) - the room was HUGE!

5 days into our trip we had some issues with the owner of the Wadi Rum Bubble Luxotel. The owner was extremely rude to us, which was particularly disappointing as we were really looking forward to this experience. However, Amanda handled the situation perfectly. As promised, she was available on Whatsapp at all hours, and immediately responded when we got in touch with her to explain the situation. It didn't go unnoticed that this all unfolded outside of office hours on a Thursday evening (start of the weekend in Jordan). She said and did all the right things within her control, which meant that we were quickly appeased despite the unfortunate situation.

Outside of this one negative experience, I must say that everyone else - from the upgrade at The House Boutique Suites, to the surprise flowers and cake gifted to us at the Petra Bubble Luxotel - were truly hospitable and thanks to Amanda, gave us special attention knowing that we were honeymooners.

Special mentions must also go to Ahmad, our driver, who was brilliant. He was a smooth driver, and his knowledge of all the roads throughout Petra was nothing short of impressive. Ahmad also went the extra mile - he bought us some personalised honeymoon gifts in Jerash, he provided us with cold water and snacks throughout our journey, and really made the effort to make us feel that he was at our service the whole time.

Our personal guide in Petra, Mahmoud (I hope I have the correct spelling!) was phenomenal. He really knew his stuff, and despite the fact he must conduct the same tour several times a day/week, he was so knowledgeable and sincerely passionate in recounting his stories and in educating us on the history of this amazing place.

All in all, we couldn't be happier. Thank you Amanda for making this an experience that will always hold a special place in our hearts.

The time that we spent with Farris, our Bedouin guide at Wadi Rum, was undoubtedly the highlight of our trip. He was just amazing! Our favorite part of the trip has to be Wadi Rum! The desert was absolutely breathtaking! All the hotels we stayed were wonderful as well, particularly the Boutique hotel in Amman. The trip was planned very well because we did the intensive activities (Wadi Rum & Petra) on the first half of the trip and the second half was relaxing by the beach :) Our only comment is regarding driver changes. I wish we were communicated about the changes, especially the day that we landed. We weren't told that a different driver was picking us up. Other that this minor confusion, the trip was perfect. Shout out to Jamal, he was incredible!!

The tour in Jerusalem was amazing and our guide Noah was accommodating to our needs. The drive up north to Nazareth and Galilee was a bit too long.

Planning was good. It was a slightly complicated, yet well laid out trip. I wish responsiveness had been slightly faster.

In general, I recommend KimKim and the staff who helped us make the trip an unforgettable one.

The hotels were all excellent except the last hotel in Tel Aviv (Grand Beach). My request was 5 star only and this hotel was not 5 star and the service and rooms were not great. Also location wise it was far from Carmel Market and Jaffa.
The guides all adjusted the schedules as appropriate and rebooked experiences for us when needed so we would not miss out on anything and get the best and fullest trip. E.g snorkeling, Jerusalem tour. All in all the trip went exactly as planned and by using kimkim all the stress and organisation hassle on site was taken out and we could just enjoy the trip which was fantastic. Jerusalem, Palestine and jordan were amazing historically and with respect to nature.

From the beginning to the end, the experience was a thumbs-up! I contacted Carmen for organising a trip in Jordan for my wife and I and was initially hesitant because this was a new platform and everything seemed almost too easy. But, I went with it since Carmen was very professional and reactive throughout the planning phase. The mobile app with all the trip information and contact details useful for us was a nice touch. Margherita, who works with Carmen also managed to help us during the trip to change a few reservations on the fly and this also worked out flawlessly. It was a really pleasant surprise to have absolutely no unpleasant surprises for 2 whole weeks in a completely new country!

Haitham was our driver who accompanied us through the entire trip and he was much more than a driver! He was a local who seemed to know the country inside out along with all the interesting hidden gems that only a local would know. It was a pleasure having him with us throughout the trip and we hope to keep in touch.

The sign of a good holiday for us has always been leaving with a smile and having made a few new friends along the way and our trip to Jordan was exactly that.

So, all things considered, the money was well spent and I would definitely consider using Kimkim in future for our next vacation. I especially recommend this to first time visits to any country where one lacks any context of local knowledge. It helps being put in touch with trustworthy locals who seem to genuinely care about your experience.

So, thank you Carmen, Margherita and Haitham! :-)

Our trip to Jordan was excellent, exciting and quite dramatic. Everything went off like clockwork. We were met at the appointed times and places by our drivers without fail. All instructions were clear, and we were often given extra time just to be safe.

We were picked up at 7:45 am near our Jerusalem hotel and taken to the Border Crossing, where we were dropped off by our Israeli driver. Then after crossing we were met by our Palestinian driver, Haithan, and cossed into Jordan where we took the long drive along the Dead Sea to Petra. Haithan kept us entertained with stories about the people and customs of the area, stopped and let us take pictures with camels, showed us natural springs and gorges, and much more. His car was cool and clean and equipped with wi-fi, which made it nice.

Petra was a remarkable place to see. We visited Little Petra first then we went on to the main Petra at about 11 am. We chose to visit it at our own pace and to read the clear and informative signs ourselves. The natural rock formations were stunning. We went from a hot and sunny environment to a cool and shady one in an instant, preferring the latter.

Walking through the gorges was quite an overwhelming experience, and seeing the elegantly carved monumental buildings really moved us. To think that an ancient civilization lived there! The Nabuteans were very industrious people and we came to admire them. The primitive holes carved out of the caves and used for wine making and water storage and holding staircases and artwork were all eerily mundane. Stony remnants of the everyday labors of a long-vanished people surrounded us and we were mesmerized by them.

We unfortunately were there on a very hot day, and on our way out we were very very warm and could hardly wait until we reached the Visitor Entrance. The sun was beating down on us very hard, but we made it on foot without a donkey ride. We felt quite victorious!

We stayed at the Petra Moon Hotel, which was itself a dream -- a lovely boutique hotel with all the amenities. .After our exertions, we went out to dinner in the evening after on the rooftop at the buffet there. It was delicious and bountiful. The breakfast buffet was another delightful experience, with all kinds of bread, an omelet bar, fresh fruit, yogurt, nuts, dates, juices...everything! The service was wonderful. They held our luggage and called our driver for us because we did not have cell phone service. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Our driver picked us up on request at our hotel and drove us the two hours to Amman, with stops on the way, and dropping us off at our hotel, the La Locanda, another boutique hotel -- this one with a music theme. The rooms did not have numbers, but rather the names of a famous middle eastern singers or musicians. Our room was named Sabah Fakhri, a Syrian tenor. The next morning Azzam picked us up and took us to the Citadel and then we sat and had a relaxing tea at a restaurant that overlooked the main street. We wanted to get to the airport for our flight to Cairo that night so he obliged us and took us there. Jordan was a great trip.

But it wasn't over because we had to fly back into Amman from Cairo, then cross over the border again into Israel. This was a challenge, because it was a Friday and the Israel border closed at 11 am and our flight was scheduled to arrive at 9 am. But thanks to our tenacious driver Azzam, who picked us up at the airport (and said we got through in only 15 minutes!) and told us he was quite sure we would make it in time as he ferried us through the confusing mass of people on the Jordanian side of the border, we made it! Amjad picked us up on the other side of the border and drove us to the Jerusalem bus station and needless to say we made it to the rest of our destinations. It was quite an experience, that border crossing day. Sometimes we didn't know what was being said among the parties involved. All I know is Azzam said to take care of the bus driver, which we did. A couple on the bus behind us did not know what was going on, had shelled out a hefty "tax" to somebody and were quite bewildered by it all. Thanks to Kimkim I feel like we were quite spared. Thanks so much to Lena, who answered every email and every question I had. Mary

Israel to Petra and Wadi Rum - 4 Days · Jordan - Jul 10 - Jul 12, 2019

Traveler: Laura R. - Local specialist: Lena Sluga

Our only complaint was that our driver, Azzam, suggested that we leave Petra earlier than the itinerary called for because we didn't need that much time Petra and so that we could have more time at the camp in Wadi Rum before sunset. We found we did want that additional time, and there was nothing gained from getting to the Wadi Rum camp earlier. It was mid-July, and our tent was barely habitable in the heat, but we couldn't be outside. Otherwise, Azzam was great, but this suggestion was not a good one.

Assam was our driver. From the moment we met him at 3:40 AM at the airport until the moment he dropped us, he took very good care of us. The car was very nice, always clean and cold. After a walk in the castle or at Jerash, per say, it was nice coming back to a cool car. Assam was very patient and even took the liberty to show us some stuff that weren't planned, which we loved. Our itinerary was well laid out allowing us amble time at each location. We had a rather short trip and while we did move a lot to fit everything in, it never felt rushed or overwhelming.

Our driver, Azzam was so kind. He was right there at the airport when we arrived. He’s a champ because after dropping off my husband and I at the hotel, he had to head back to the airport to pickup our friend who was arriving on a much later flight. It was a late night for him but there he was a few hours later ready to take us to our first location. He answered any questions we had and just seemed like a really nice person.

I enjoyed all of the hotels we stayed in. They weren’t chain hotels (i.e. Hyatt, Holiday Inn) so you felt like you were getting a more authentic experience.

Visiting Petra was incredible. We had one little hiccup where Petra at Night was on our itinerary but the tour was not offered the night we were there. Carmen contacted us the next day and we were immediately given a refund for the cost of those tickets. We were very appreciative of that.

Being at the Dead Sea, Petra, the Wadi Rum desert, a Bedouin camp, it was all a fantastic experience. I could have never put a trip like this together myself so I’m grateful to Carmen and her team for everything they did. Thank you!

The other very special touch was Akrem (our personal driver) who drove us for the entire journey. His stories and attention to the littlest detail was extra special and he really made the experience all the more enjoyable.....wonderful company and now a friend. The only suggestions I would offer is to be crystal clear of your preference for accommodations. Amanda is not a mind reader so be very clear if you want or need upgrades. It’s better to pay a little extra for these comforts rather than need to make the change mid trip. Also the dinner with a “Jordanian family” was quite an experience. This should have been explained a bit better as we thought we were going to a sit down dinner as we would come to know it....actually this was the home of a Bedouin family, sitting on rugs, eating with hands etc. Niah our host was wonderful, but my wife almost wore a dress to dinner which would have been quite uncomfortable. Given that the custom is for the men (and Western guests) to eat in one room while the women and children in another. Nonetheless this was genuinely a great experience and shouldn’t be missed.
We had limited time (8days) and wanted to see as much of Jordan as we could. The Itinerary was quite comprehensive ensuring we hit all the high spots but also allowed plenty of beach downtime as well. NOTE: you’ll appreciate a pool because it can get very hot!. The highlight though was our “Lawrence of Arabia” experience in the Wadi Rum.....absolutely breathtaking and stunning.
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this Kim KimTours and look forward to our return.

We found the day at Jerash and Um Qais to be long and tiring, with the focus being solely on ancient ruins. The lunch spot, Green Valley, which Akfram recommended was the highlight of the day.

The La Locanda Hotel is quite nice, but some rooms have limited electrical outlets for guests' use.

Visiting Madaba, Mt. Nebo, and the Dead Sea was fascinating and fun. The Dead Sea Spa Hotel was a bit "worn around the edges," in need of updating. The dinner and breakfast buffets are clearly focused on large tour groups, and we found the food to be largely inedible, devoid of flavor and quality. Brad got very sick the day we left, from eating improperly washed fruit for breakfast at the Dead Sea Spa Hotel, which had a vastly negative effect on his enjoyment of the first day at Petra.

Petra is, of course, the crown jewel of Jordan. The hotel, The Petra Guesthouse, is lovely and has a great location right next to the entrance of the Petra Archaeological Park. The included breakfast at the Petra Guesthouse was excellent.

I would suggest asking clients whether or not they want to have a family visit in Petra. We were exhausted from having spent the day visiting the sights in the archaeological park, so we would have preferred to just stay at the hotel. Since Brad was very sick, he did not attend the family dinner. I was not provided with any contact information for the driver in Petra to go to the family dinner; and, since "outside" drivers are not permitted in the security gate to the hotel, I had to search around for a driver. The driver and the father of the host family did not have any signs that indicated that they worked with In2Jordan, so I was a bit leary about getting into a car with two total strangers and heading off onto local roads to a nearby village. Everything worked out OK, but the family visit was quite awkward in that only the father of the family spoke English, and he seemed more interested in smoking cigarettes incessantly than in engaging with me or his family. I reeked with smoke by the time I got home, so I had to shower and hand-wash my clothes. Frankly, it seemed that he wanted to get the family meal obligation over with as soon as possible, and I was OK with that approach since I was not enjoying myself at all.

The back tour of Petra to the Monastery was excellent, and the guide (Tariq?) was quite good.

We then went to the Memoriet Aicha Luxury Camp in Wadi Rum. Do not book guests into the "Panorama" rooms, which are miserably hot, to the point that Rich almost passed out. In addition, the plastic domes are worn and torn, with the clear panels for the panoramic view clouded and cracked to the point that you couldn't really see out of them. The front desk manager had told us before we went to the room that the air-conditioning wasn't working very well, and that we would be upgraded for free if we found the rooms too hot. Fortunately, we were able to move to another tent. The camel tour was quite fun.

The jeep ride the next day was very interesting, but lasted 2.5 hours instead of 3 hours because the driver said he had to get to other guests.

By the time we got to Aqaba, we were exhausted and had little interest in going snorkeling or other beach activities, so the time at Aqaba became a day of rest for us. For being a seaside town, Aqaba did not have many decent restaurants that focused on fish or seafood. The La Costa hotel was quite good, except that there were no chairs (including no desk chair) in the room.

Israel:

Our Israeli driver, George, explained that he was not a guide, but only a driver, so he didn't even explain the basis importance of sights on the first day, e.g., Masada and Qum Ran. We would have skipped both those sights since the signage at both places was limited and lacked any real information about the historical significance of the location. Both seemed more focused on shepherding tourists towards their gift shops and restaurants than on the archaeological and historical significance of the sights. Both sights are overrun by tour buses. We then traveled to Jerusalem to stay at the Gloria Hotel, which is in a great location with comfortable beds and good bathrooms/showers. No bottled water is provided by the hotel (unlike every other hotel we stayed in), and the wifi service is very weak and spotty. Since the Gloria Hotel is focused on tour groups, the meals are buffet-style with OK, but not great, food.

There was some mix-up on which day we were to have a private guide for Bethlehem, but once that issue got sorted out, we were SO fortunate that Khadra Zreineh was our guide. She is magnificent! She's knowledgeable about the historical and religious significance of the various sights; she's excellent at knowing how to navigate sights to avoid standing in long lines; she explained the Palestine/Israel political issues clearly; plus, she's friendly, professional, and intelligent. We enjoyed her so much that we engaged her for another day to guide us in Jerusalem. We recommend that you strongly suggest that future guests hire a guide for both Bethlehem and Jerusalem. And, if you can book her services, we suggest that you always engage Khadra as a guide. By the end of the two days, we were referring to Khadra as our Palestinian sister!

We liked having a free day in Jerusalem to get outside the Old City walls.

We liked the Dizengoff Avenue Hotel, which is in a great location (15-minute walk to the beach; 2-minute walk to dozens of restaurants). The rooms are large (except for tiny bathrooms), with two stools at the desk area, which we appreciated. The KimKim/In2Jordan itinerary indicated that breakfast was included, but the hotel had no records or vouchers for us, so we paid independently for our breakfast. If your clients are "foodies," we recommend that they book a table - or better yet, a seat at the bar overlooking the open kitchen - at Claro. While it is not cheap, it is a top-notch, world-class restaurant, worthy of an evening out.

All-in-all, we were very pleased with the KimKim/In2Jordan trip. With a few minor tweaks (eliminating spending the first day visiting only ruins; reserving tent rooms - and not space bubbles - at the Bedouin camp; and eliminating the home dinner with locals in Petra), it would have been a fantastic trip.

Jordans 5 days and 4 nights.
Thanks for the organization. We liked Jordan very much. Hotels very good, the driver Haitham perfectly english speaking and actively explaining jordan traditions and routes.
To your future guests We suggest: even in very short tours, take at least 2 hours In Dead sea hotel before leaving for south tour (Petra and WadiRum) for unforgettable time floating in the dead sea. In Petra, try to visit Petra entering from back with a guide: a one way walk was much appreciated by our group.
This is a great trip and we thank all of your group for the great support. Paolo
