What you'll do

Kick off this three-hour adventure by meeting your knowledgeable guide at Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon and boarding a Super Jeep, specially designed for traversing Iceland's rugged terrain. Settle in and enjoy a scenic 40-minute drive toward Breiðamerkurjökull, a vast glacial tongue extending from the mighty Vatnajökull glacier. Along the thrilling off-road journey, your knowledgeable guide will share fascinating insights about the formation of ice caves, the surrounding glaciers, and the cultural history of the area.

When you arrive at the glacier, it's a short 15-minute walk to the entrance of the ice cave. There, you'll don helmets and crampons and go over safety instructions with your guide. Then it's time to step inside the cave, a marvel of sculptural ice formations and glittering shades of blue and green. Wander through the narrow tunnels and vaulted chambers, and learn about how the caves are formed by glacial melt and freezing. After plenty of time to explore your otherworldly surroundings (and snapping plenty of photos), you'll hike back to the Super Jeep for the return journey.
