What you'll do

Welcome to your cocktail-making masterclass, where a professional guide will show you the roots of Spanish and Catalan gastronomy. You'll participate in an interactive experience where you'll craft three different cocktails—and taste them, of course. Your class is in The Paella Club's historic venue just behind Barcelona's most famous market, Mercado La Boqueria.

After arriving at the venue, you'll start your class with a toast of chilled cava, Catalonia's famous sparkling wine. As you sip, you'll listen to your host discuss the favored cocktails and the ingredients typically used in Spanish and Catalan versions of these drinks. Much of the regional preferences relate to the area's gastronomy, culture, and history. It's a delicious and fun reminder that nothing in Spain just happens; there's always a deeper reason for everything.

Once you've received your introduction, you'll get familiar with the equipment used to make cocktails, such as a muddler, bar spoon, strainer, and shaker. You'll have your own station and equipment just to yourself. Then, with your host leading each step, you'll start crafting the drinks, paying attention to the ingredients, preparation techniques, and flavor ratios. In this hands-on activity, you'll create three cocktails, all using different liquor.

At the end of your experience, you'll receive an e-recipes book, so you can prepare the drinks once you're back home.
