Discover Korčula's Archipelago, Korčula

Overview

Discover Korčula's surroundings and enjoy a boating excursion through its archipelago. Also known as the Škoji Islets, this cluster includes 18 islands accessible by boat, including Vrnik (the only inhabited island) and Badija (featuring a Franciscan Monastery).

You'll depart from Korčula Town and make your way through the islets. Enjoy stunning views of the area and learn more about the archipelago's history. As life has changed over the centuries, so has the importance of these islets. However, they have always been an important source of natural resources for the people of Korčula and the Pelješac Peninsula. They offered a reef and abundant fishing grounds, plus limestone rock and hunting.

Today, the islands mostly provide tourism opportunities for visitors or recreation for locals. After learning more about the area's history and taking in the scenery, you'll stop in quiet coves and swim in the crystal clear sea. There are plenty of hidden beaches and ideal areas for swimming and snorkeling. For lunch, enjoy fresh fish prepared right on the boat!

Well, if we have to give this a star, we can only give it one star… Because it never happened. This is because Fish and Fun, the boat run by captain Mario, did not have us scheduled on the correct day. Although Sarah did all she could to persuade him to accommodate us, it did not work out so we made other plans. Sarah did refund us the entire portion for this part of the excursion, and gave us a wonderful meal in Dubrovnik as compensation. So, for this portion of the trip, we give KimKim 5 stars, and Mario none. We also found another boat to take us to surrounding islands, so we were able to salvage part of the afternoon, albeit not on Fish and Fun.
