What you'll do

After meeting up with your local guide and the rest of your small group, start your culinary journey through San Sebastián's historic Old Town at a beloved local bar that's been serving up some of the best mussels in town since the 1970s. Here, you'll sample some delicious seafood and learn the art of the txotx (a classic Basque cider-pouring tradition). Next, you'll discover Spain's most famous delicacy at a family-run gourmet shop, where your host will choose two highly-praised versions of Iberian ham for you to taste.

Continue past the picturesque main square to reach a bar renowned for its home-marinated anchovies, then it's on to one of the city's most famous pintxo bars (highly regarded by both local and international foodies), where you'll sample a selection of bites that blend traditional ingredients with innovative cooking techniques. Satisfy your carnivorous cravings at a popular hotspot for grilled steak, pausing for a sirloin pintxo paired with barrel-aged Navarra wine, then end the evening with a slice of Basque cheesecake and a glass of sweet wine at a restaurant that's been delighting locals and visitors alike since the 1950s.

Pintxos are a must when you are in San Sebastian, as it has Spanish and French influence! They are local to the area! I met the guide near the old town, where we walked to five or six different restaurants/ bars. We had a variety of local dishes, meats, cheeses, desserts, wines, beer, and more, and everything tasted delicious! They can cater to those that don't eat meat. Read more
