What you'll do

This private day trip introduces you to two Spanish cities steeped in history and culture. You'll begin with a hotel pickup and a 1.5-hour drive south of Seville to Cádiz. The coastal city was founded by the Phoenicians over 3,000 years ago to access precious metals and as a trading port, making it the oldest city in Spain. Enjoy a guided stroll around the narrow streets of the Casco Antiguo (Old Town), cutting across wide open plazas to reach towering religious buildings like the 19th-century Catedral de Cádiz, which took over 100 years to build and overlooks the sea on one side and Plaza de la Catedral on the other.

You might also stop by the remains of one of the Roman Empire's largest amphitheaters, the Teatro Balbi, which once held over 10,000 spectators and provides a fascinating glimpse into the city's Roman past. Next, watch daily life unfold as you explore Mercado Central de Abastos, the country's oldest indoor municipal market, with over 150 stalls hosting tapas bars, fishmongers, and grocers. Your guide will lead you to some of their favorite sellers to pick up regional treats like olives and tuna, and you'll learn why Cádiz's seafood is considered some of the best in Spain.

You'll have worked up an appetite by now, so it's time to get back on the road and head 30 minutes north to Jerez de la Frontera, renowned for its sherry production and as the birthplace of flamenco. This walkable city is centered around the Alcázar de Jerez de la Frontera, a former 12th-century Moorish fortress, and you'll get a look at its stately Old Town before breaking for a leisurely lunch (not included) at a renowned local restaurant recommended by your guide. Your final stop is at a small family-run bodega (winery) just five minutes away, where you'll sample the finest Jerez sherries, from dry to sweet.
