Sea Kayak in the Navarino Gulf, Kalamata

Explore Navarino Bay's natural beauty with this half-day guided sea kayak activity, gliding through its calm, protected waters. First, you'll meet your guide and get acquainted with your equipment. After learning a few basic techniques and practicing in shallow water, you'll set off on an easy paddle around the bay.

Paddle along the harbor and admire the urban sites, such as the castle of Niokastro and the colorful building facades. The castle was the backdrop of a famous naval battle and the most decisive event during the Greek Revolution. Your guide will share historical facts and stories about this conflict, fought entirely with ships!

Make your way toward Tsihli Baba, a monolithic islet with a large rock arch known as the Greek Azure Window. As you pass by, you'll see the much larger Sfaktiria Island in the distance. Enjoy paddling by impressive rock formations and sea caves. Take a break at a hidden cove with a deserted beach. As you relax, you may spot a few migrant birds, sea turtles, or seals.

If the waters are clear, gaze down into the sea and find some sunken ships from the famous Battle of Navarino. Before heading back, you'll stop at an accessible beach. Enjoy swimming, snorkeling, or sunbathing, followed by a picnic lunch with fresh bread, local produce, homemade olive oil, and regional cheese.
