Tucked away in nature, Aguila de Osa Rainforest & Marine Adventure Lodge is a luxury resort overlooking Drake Bay. It's constructed of bamboo, creating a rustic, treehouse-like vibe. Rooms have wide porches with rocking chairs and hammocks overlooking the rainforest canopy and the water. The small property is spread out, the restaurant and dining area is its own building, whereas the 13 guestrooms are divided into six buildings, two of which are single-room cabins. The hotel is family-friendly, and the staff is helpful and approachable.

Authenticity

A relaxing jungle retreat, the Aguila de Osa Rainforest & Marine Adventure Lodge is nestled on a hill amid the lush Costa Rican rainforest on the edge of the Osa Peninsula, overlooking Drake Bay at the mouth of the Agujitas River. While Drake Bay is a popular destination for ecotourism, it's known for its remote and untouched natural environment. Restaurant ingredients are locally sourced from the hotel's farm, La Perla, including papaya, plantains, cacao, yucca, and fresh-caught seafood from the nearby Pacific. Their on-site hydroponic garden grows herbs and salad ingredients, and their fresh fish comes from their own boats and local fishermen.

Location

Overlooking the serene Drake Bay, this hotel is amid a lush rainforest, providing an immersive experience on the edge of the Osa Peninsula. Its location is perfect for nature enthusiasts, near Playa Colorada and within driving distance from the renowned Corcovado National Park. The closest beach, Playa Aguijitas, is a mere 15-minute walk from the hotel. 

Rooms & Bathrooms

The rooms at the Aguila de Osa Rainforest & Marine Adventure Lodge are designed to make you feel at home with nature. The rooms provide an intimate encounter with the surrounding rainforest, featuring woodsy interiors and expansive windows with screens. Each room has a ceiling fan, free WiFi, a minibar, and tea and coffee makers. If you upgrade to a suite, you'll enjoy additional space with sitting areas, sofas, and terraces offering a rainforest view.

Wildlife

The grounds are full of wildlife. Some animals guests may see on the property include different types of birds, toucans, iguanas, spiders, capuchin monkeys, and more.

Amenities

At the Aguila de Osa Rainforest & Marine Adventure Lodge, you'll get a host of complimentary amenities, including welcome cocktails, meals, and the use of kayaks. Although the hotel doesn't have a spa, gym, or pool, it more than makes up for it with its proximity to Drake Bay. The hotel isn't accessible.

Family-Friendliness

Aguila de Osa Rainforest & Marine Adventure Lodge welcomes families; depending on the package purchased, kids 12 and under may stay for free if sharing a room with two adults. Kids age 13 and up are considered adults. The hotel offers board games, puzzles, and table tennis. While there isn't a specific kids' menu at the restaurant, the chefs are more than willing to accommodate young travelers. The property isn't very stroller-friendly. 

Other Highlights

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included for all guests and are served a la carte in the Great Room, an open, cathedral-vaulted space with polished wood floors and views of the rainforest canopy and Drake Bay. The menus are pan-American, with ingredients sourced from the hotel's gardens and farm. The Great Room Bar is fully stocked with spirits and offers an extensive wine list from Argentina, Chile, California, and France. There are also dozens of signature cocktails as well as the classics.
