3.0 (1 reviews) · Comfort
Relaxed, comfortable airport hotel with an outdoor pool, 24/7 gym, and 24/7 market

Overview

Courtyard by Marriott is less than one mile from the airport and just off the ramp from the Pan American Highway, so it’s a great location if you’re looking for a quick overnight stay after flying in or before flying out. Standard rooms, superior rooms, and suites are simple in design and decor, but all feature air conditioning and high-speed Wi-Fi. You’ll also find an outdoor pool, a 24/7 market, and an optional breakfast buffet (additional fee).

Pros
  • The hotel is located close to all of the area's major transportation hubs, including the airport, main highway, and train station, plus car rental agencies.
  • There's a 24-hour fitness center, a 24/7 hour market, and a restaurant/bar serving dinner.
  • Enjoy time relaxing in the outdoor swimming pool.
Cons
  • You'll find a fairly standard Marriott design—elegant but generic.
  • The airport shuttle only runs from 4 am to midnight.

Authenticity

Courtyard by Marriott at San José Airport is your typical international airport hotel chain. On the inside, it's bright but straightforward and basic. The exterior is modern and multi-story, with tall palm trees at the entrance. You know you're in Costa Rica, though, thanks to the traditional food served at the restaurant.

Location

Courtyard by Marriot is less than one mile from the airport and just off the ramp of the Pan American Highway. The hotel is next to a large department store and across the highway from the City Mall. If you want to rent a car, you'll find plenty of car rental agencies in the area. Keep in mind that the airport shuttle only runs from 4 am to midnight, which might not work for you, depending on your itinerary.

Rooms/Bathrooms

Bathrooms are straightforward with your typical Marriott amenities, as are the rooms, though they come in standard, superior, and suite categories. All have air-conditioning, minifridges, flat-screen TVs, and high-speed WiFi. Choose between a king bed or two queens for standard rooms, or upgrade your room for a king and sofa bed.

Other Highlights

Each morning, you can enjoy a continental breakfast (for an additional fee) in the main restaurant/bar area, which also serves Costa Rican and international cuisine for lunch and dinner. You can also grab snacks at the 24-hour market. Relax at the outdoor pool and work off jet lag at the 24/7 fitness center.
