Eurostars Marqués de Vallejo (Logroño), La Rioja
Modern, chain hotel with comfortable, contemporary rooms and an excellent Old Town location
I'm an employee at kimkim, and I recently stayed at the Eurostars Marqués de Vallejo for a work trip! My time was pleasant and comfortable, but... Read more
Overview
Kimkim's Take
- The Old Town address is as central as you can get: Calle Portales, Calle San Juan, and the Santa María de la Redonda Cathedral are just steps from the front door.
- The modern rooms are comfortable and quiet, with excellent soundproofing.
- A small art gallery off the lobby showcases colorful works by local Riojan artists.
- There's not much character or charm here—interiors are simple and somewhat bland.
- Amenities are limited to an optional breakfast, and there's no fitness room, spa, or on-site parking.
Authenticity
Marqués de Vallejo is part of the Spanish-based Eurostars group, and its interiors match the chain's simple, international aesthetic. The 1911 building retains its original facade, and you'll still find a few remnants of its history (including an original staircase and decorative balconettes) among the modern, somewhat nondescript common areas and rooms. There's a welcome splash of color (and character) in the small on-site gallery off the lobby, which showcases works by local artists under a glass ceiling.
Location
The hotel is situated among the bustling pedestrian thoroughfares of Logrono's Old Town, with landmarks like the spires of the Santa María de la Redonda Cathedral and the corner of Calle Portales visible from the front door. The pintxos bars of Calle San Juan and "La Laurel" are both within a two-block radius, and it's a 20-minute walk (or an 8-minute taxi ride) to the train station. Despite the pedestrian location, taxis can pick up and drop off in front of the lobby, and parking is available nearby in a paid private lot.
Rooms & Bathrooms
All of the hotel's 45 air-conditioned rooms are furnished in a modern, minimalist style, with stark white walls, wood-style flooring, and simple modular furniture. There's very little character (and only a rare piece of art or decor), but everything feels clean and new, and double-glazed windows keep things quiet despite the central location. Double rooms are the most compact; Deluxe or Premium units add more space, and the Junior Suite includes a separate area. Bathrooms are modern and clean, featuring either glass-walled walk-in showers or large bath/shower combinations.
Amenities
The hotel doesn't offer much in the way of other amenities, beyond an optional breakfast buffet with a good selection of standard continental fare. This is also a popular spot with business travelers, and you'll find multiple meeting spaces and work areas, including a library.
Family-Friendliness
Children are welcome here, though it's not an ideal spot for families; room options are limited, and no cribs or foldaway beds are available. Double rooms with an extra twin bed are the best option for larger groups.
