Authenticity

Part boutique bodega (winery) and part luxury hotel, Finca de los Arandinos' main structure sits like a stark, modernist sculpture among its surrounding 54 acres (22 ha) of vineyards. The interiors (a partnership between local architect Javier Arizcuren and Spanish designer David Delfin) have an austere but airy feel, with lots of weathered concrete, pale woods, and glass walls that flood the spaces with light. Colorful, irreverent art pieces add splashes of color, and a soaring dining area overlooks the winery's fermentation tanks. 

Location

The hotel sits at the heart of La Rioja's wine country, just a few minutes outside the small village of Entrena. This is a rural spot meant for escape—you won't find much to do beyond wine tasting and relaxing at the spa, and you'll want a car to explore farther afield. The bustling regional capital of Logroño is a 20-minute drive north; continue another hour to reach Bilbao and its airport. There are plenty of opportunities for hiking and cycling in the surrounding area (including access to the famed Camino de Santiago route), and free parking is available on-site. 

Rooms & Bathrooms

All 14 rooms are decorated in a stripped-down, modernist style, featuring lots of pale woods, floor-to-ceiling windows (with handy automatic blinds), and private terraces. The smallest units incorporate clever modular furniture and built-in bathrooms, but the minimalist design can feel a little spartan. Cask Hall Doubles offer more warmth and space (with seating areas, sofa beds, and pale green accent walls), and the largest Suite adds a living room and a double soaking tub. Most bathrooms feature glass walls with slatted wooden blinds, which may pose a privacy issue for some guests. 

Amenities

Sip house wines with panoramic views at the on-site Tierra Restaurant, where tasting menus feature local Riojan producers in a modern, glass-walled dining area. Breakfast is included in the rate and served in the same space; expect classic continental offerings with cooked-to-order eggs and barista-style coffee. You can learn more about the winery with guided tastings and in-depth winemaker tours, or head to the on-site spa to relax with a wellness circuit (with massage pools, cold plunges, and a Finnish sauna) or a vinotherapy body treatment.

Family-Friendliness

Finca de Los Arandinos welcomes families, though it caters to a mostly adult crowd. Extra beds and baby cribs are available upon request, but there's not much else in the way of child-friendly amenities. The Junior Suite is the best fit for families, sleeping four comfortably with an extra sofa bed, and all floors are stroller-friendly and accessible via elevator.
