Molina Lario Hotel, Málaga
Charming boutique hotel with tranquil rooms, a gourmet restaurant, and a rooftop terrace with a pool and views
Overview
Kimkim's Take
- The hotel's location is perfect for exploring the city on foot, as you'll be at the end of the historic Calle Granada and the start of both Málaga Park and Paseo del Muelle Uno, plus just down the street from the Cathedral.
- Enjoy staying in two renovated historic buildings that maintain their original facades, though part of the hotel contains a new modern building.
- You can also walk to other prominent sites, including the Alcazaba, Mercado Central, Picasso Museum, Castillo de Gibralfaro, and Playa la Malagueta.
- The hotel's onsite restaurant, Matiz, offers a gourmet tasting menu and wine pairing for dinner, plus breakfast, lunch, and afternoon coffee service.
- Relax on the rooftop terrace with a heated swimming pool, sundeck, and incredible views of the Cathedral and waterfront.
- You'll also find another outdoor terrace on the hotel's sixth floor with views and a lounge.
- There aren't many room categories, so you only have a few choices that don't differ too much from one another.
Authenticity
Though completely renovated inside, the hotel maintained the building's original 19th-century façade. The hotel encompasses three buildings, two historical and one modern, offering a unique architectural blend. Still, the interiors channel the city's glitzy Art Nouveau past in its decor.Location
Enjoy a near-perfect location at the end of the historic street Calle Molina Lario and the start of Málaga Park across the street from the waterfront promenade Paseo del Muelle Uno. This location straddles old and new, so you get a little bit of everything, including gourmet restaurants, international shopping, local hangouts, and artisan shops tucked down corners. You'll be within walking distance of all the sites, including the Cathedral, Picasso Museum, Alcazaba, and Castillo de Gibralfaro.Rooms & Bathrooms
Rooms are bright, modern, and comfortable with a refined look and elevated touches like a pillow menu and bathrobes. The standard option is a little small, so choose a superior room or higher for a bit more space. Some feature sea views and desks, while suites add seating areas. Family rooms are the largest option, with the ability to add one or two additional beds.Amenities
The hotel's rooftop terrace is a highlight, with an outdoor swimming pool and sundeck, plus incredible sea and Cathedral views. The rooftop terrace also comes with several lounge chairs and a rooftop bar. You'll also find another terrace on the sixth floor and a small lobby lounge. The hotel is wheelchair-friendly and even has several rooms that accommodate accessibility needs.Family-Friendliness
Children of all ages are welcome at Molina Lario Hotel, and those aged up to 9 stay for free. Family rooms can accommodate up to four. However, there are no amenities catering to families with children.Other Highlights
Molina Lario Hotel connects to the gourmet restaurant Matiz, which has beautiful courtyard dining and a tasting menu with wine pairings for dinner. Of course, you can also enjoy breakfast in the morning, which is buffer style, but a la carte options are also available.Like what you see?
