Hotel Boutique Teatro Romano, Málaga

4.0 (1 reviews) · Standard
Simple quarters with a boutique feel set in a hotel around the corner from the Teatro Romano and Alcazaba

Overview

Step outside the hotel, and you'll be among the city's ancient history, kitty-corner from the Teatro Romano and Alcazaba. Hotel Boutique Teatro Romano offers rooms with views of these historic sites, plus a filling breakfast buffet in a charming dining area. Enjoy being steps from the city's major sites, plus within walking distance of other attractions, like the Cathedral, waterfront, and city beaches.

Pros
  • If you want to stay among the city's ancient history, the hotel is kitty-corner from Teatro Romano and the walls of the Alcazaba, plus opposite the retro Cine Albéniz and just down the street from where you can walk to Castillo de Gibralfaro.
  • The perk of this location is that you'll be surrounded by the historical sites while still close to others; leafy Málaga Park is just a five-minute walk (as is the Cathedral), and it'll take less than 15 minutes to walk to Playa la Malagueta.
  • With just 14 rooms, you get the look and feel of a boutique hotel without paying for an expensive hotel.
  • Some of the rooms have views of Teatro Romano or the Alcazaba.
  • Enjoy a simple yet filling and charming breakfast buffet on the ground floor each morning, served in a bright, airy dining room.
Cons
  • Rooms are a bit smaller than other hotels, and many have a sink in the room rather than the bathroom.
  • We love the hotel's history and location, but keep in mind that you'll be above a Burger King—a reminder of modern times!

Authenticity

The hotel's facade perfectly exhibits Málaga's fascinating history with iron balconies, tall shutters, and curved top-floor windows. The rooms are bright and modern but attempt to channel the history with molding and neutral tones. Plus, when you step outside the hotel, you'll be on the same corner as Teatro Romano and the Alcazaba.

Location

For exploring Málaga's historical sites, the location doesn't get much better than Hotel Boutique Teatro Romano. The hotel is opposite the cool and retro Cine Albéniz and on the same corner as Teatro Romano and the walls of the Alcazaba. You can reach the Cathedral and Málaga Park near the waterfront with just five minutes of walking.

Rooms & Bathrooms

Hotel Boutique Teatro Romano completely renovated the rooms, so you'll find bright, modern, and airy quarters with trendy neutral tones to create a tranquil atmosphere. Standard rooms are relatively small, some with a sink in the room rather than the bathroom, so we recommend choosing a larger double room or suite. Bathrooms are basic and small but come with toiletries from the French company Algotherm (which uses ingredients from the sea).

Other Highlights

The hotel's appeal is undoubtedly its prime location, but you can also enjoy the daily breakfast buffet in the charming ground-floor dining area. Since the hotel is small with just 14 rooms, the breakfast is small, too, but surprisingly filling with both hot and cold choices.
