Ganimede Hotel, Galaxidi

Charming 19th-century captain's house with seven spacious rooms, an idyllic courtyard, and homemade breakfast

Overview

Nestled in the seaside town of Galaxidi, Ganimede Hotel offers a tranquil retreat just a short stroll from the picturesque harbor. This 19th-century captain's house is just a five-minute walk from the neoclassical buildings, traditional shops, and bustling cafés and restaurants of Galaxidi's waterfront. You'll be within walking distance of St. Nikolas Church, the Maritime Museum of Galaxidi, and Kalafátis Beach.

The seven rooms at Ganimede Hotel transport you back to the elegance of 1890s Galaxidi in this mansion that has retained its original architecture and elements like wooden beams and stone walls. The rooms blend modern and traditional decor, and each comes with air conditioning and a fireplace. Families can spread out in triples or split-level suites, while couples will enjoy the private balconies or patios. Past kimkim travelers have praised the hotel's comfort, hospitality, and unique atmosphere, with many rooms resembling small apartments.

A highlight of the Ganimede Hotel is its award-winning Greek breakfast, offering an array of homemade jams, chutneys, and other local products based on traditional recipes. Owner Chrisoula personally prepares and serves breakfast in the picturesque courtyard or by the indoor fireplace during the winter. She also offers cooking lessons, allowing you to immerse yourself in the local cuisine.

This hotel was so cute. And our "room" (it was actually an apartment) was huge with two couch/beds for our kids, a bedroom for the adults, and a kitchen. It was a little weird driving into the town because it is pretty deserted, but the hotel was more than cute enough to make up for that. Read more

Authenticity & Character
This place was so cute. It was amazing.
Location
It's a few blocks away from the harbor and restaurants so is a little bit isolated, especially when the weather is so hot.

Everyone was very nice and helpful.

Of all the rooms we stayed in (5 different luxury hotels in Greece) this understated hotel had the best breakfast, most user-friendly rooms (
Kitchenette, locations of electric outlets, towels, etc). Loved the welcome glass of fresh lemonade and the homemade Greek yogurt. Great location in a non-touristy seaside town.

The room was more like a small apartment with a separate sitting room. Very clean and comfortable. The owner is fabulous. She's an accomplished cook (and gives cooking lessons) and her breakfast was by far the best we had in Greece, and there was a lot of competition! The bread was from the bakery she owns in town so was incredibly fresh. I'm getting hungry remembering.... Read more

This was the most charming hotel on our trip to Greece! Very unexpected amazing hotel in a small town. Location, comfort, and quiet. Stayed one night last August. Beautiful stroll along the water from the hotel to an amazing fresh fish dinner. Stepped out the door the next morning for an epic open water swim around the bay, the point, and the next bay. Relaxing breakfast with coffee on our private balcony overlooking the bay and town, and enjoyed a relaxing after breakfast swim. Checkout not until 12:00 so we had a super relaxing morning. Tips for future travelers

Bring a bathing suit. Lots of locals swim in the bay right off the town's promenade. We did too. Super convenient steps right into the water.
