Pacuare River Lodge, Río Pacuare

Located in the heart of the Costa Rican rainforest beside the Pacuare River, Pacuare River Lodge is a secluded retreat that dates back to 1986, offering an authentic experience. This lodge is only accessible via whitewater rafting, a 4WD vehicle from the town of Santa Marta, or a helicopter, making it an adventurous destination for those seeking a remote getaway. Notably, the lodge's proximity to the river and rainforest allows guests to engage in exciting activities such as rafting, ziplining, and canyoning without having to travel far. To get to the property, you'll meet your hosts in Finca Tres Equis between Turrialba and Siquirres, where they can secure your rental car (if you have one) in a private location. 

The lodge offers about 20 simple yet refined guestrooms, including the luxurious Jaguar Villa with a private, spring-fed pool overlooking the river and the rainforest canopy-located Canopy Villa. Each independent villa is immersed in the surrounding jungle, providing peace and quiet, and features teak floors, hardwood furniture, and bamboo accents. You'll enjoy high-speed WiFi, naturally sourced toiletries, and an abundance of natural light.

Pacuare River Lodge's notable amenities include the Jawa Juü Spa, named after an Indigenous Cabécar term meaning "house of the healer," and the Nairi Awari Restaurant. The spa, nestled in the rainforest, offers treatments with natural and organic products, while the restaurant serves an array of Costa Rican, American, and European fusion dishes prepared with fresh ingredients. The lodge also features a shallow saltwater infinity pool that overlooks the rainforest. The pool is chlorine-free and heated passively by special radiating tiles, and is generally not crowded—perfect for a peaceful swim. The lodge also offers golf carts for guests to move around the property and even provides rubber boots for hiking and exploration.
