We had a wonderful time on our holiday trip to Germany and Austria. The whole trip was well planned with exactly what we asked for. We really enjoyed the food tour in Munich with Andrea and the cooking class in Salzburg. We loved the day trip train tickets that allowed us flexibility to choose our own adventure based on how we were feeling that day. All of our hotels were nice and in good locations. I can't think of anything I would change.

This is a newer hotel that is very nice. We appreciated some of their sustainability efforts. The staff were efficient and kind. The bar/restaurant in the hotel was enjoyable; it had seasonal cocktails in the evenings and a delicious breakfast in the morning. The location of this hotel was nice because it was so close to the train station, but it was a little far of a walk to get to the markets and activities in the city center. It might have been nice to be a little closer to the city center.

This hotel was nice, and the staff were very kind. It was a good location close to the train station and within easy walking distance to the market. The breakfast was wonderful! The only problem we had was that the hotel was VERY warm inside, and the only option we had to adjust the temperature was to open a window. This made it a challenge to keep the room at a steady and comfortable temperature and there was a lot of activity and street noise at night, which kept us awake sometimes.

Very clean and nice, but the heat was turned up way too high, and there was no way (that we could find) to turn it down. I believe the temperature outside during our stay was unexpectedly unseasonably warm, so this may have been a factor.

24/7 assistance in case of emergency

We didn't really have an emergency, but we had to call for assistance once when we first arrived in Munich. Our flight arrived an hour early, so we waited for our ride, but even after our scheduled arrival time, we didn't see anyone or hear from anyone. So after waiting 90 minutes, I called for help, and she was able to get in touch with the driver and find out he was on his way, just running a bit behind. She was very helpful and got an answer quickly.

We frequently participate in cooking classes when we travel, and this was one of the best we have ever participated in. The instructor was fun and clear, and the recipes were easy and delicious. We also appreciated how the class was set up and provided a group lunch at the end; this created opportunities to socialize with the other participants and make new friends! After class, I emailed the school, and they sent me copies of the recipes so I could easily remake them at home!

I thought I would try the travel platform of KimKim for a trip with three couples. We ended up with an amazing local travel agency called Avellera in Austria.
Clemens and Kamilla along with their experienced staff at Avellera Travel Agency in Austria were excellent. We had a few issues in the beginning due to KimKim NOT Clemens, but everything worked out. Every tour they suggested we loved
( and they didn't even know our travel style) All price points were spot on, all transfers from hotels and trains were on time and other suggestions made our trip seamless. We were able to contact them easily while on our trip for questions or concerns. Thank you Clemens and Kamilla.

My review of Kimkim is different. I found they charged much more than a 20% for commission and they are not always helpful when an issue occurs. Kimkim is just adverting tool on the internet. We were lucky to get a wonderful agent for our trip to Austria.
I will never use Kimkim again to book a trip.

What a wonderful experience! We traveled to Germany in December 2025 and started planning around March. Lucie, our advisor, was incredible from the start. She listened to what we wanted the trip to be like, suggested itineraries and adjustments to help us make the trip our own. She guided us through logistics including how much we wanted to spend, type of transport (trains, bus, etc), type of hotel, group vs private tours, etc.

Lucie took care of all the logistics and made sure we had all information needed. It was truly a concierge experience where we showed up without worrying about any of the details and made the trip much more enjoyable.

The selections for hotel, guides, etc were perfect based on the information we provided. Every tour experience was educational and enjoyable and Lucie made sure to leave us free time in the evenings, which we requested. I have family members using KimKim for their upcoming trips based on our experience and we will definitely use KimKim again.

Our trip to Germany was great, and Lucie made it easy to plan. We started with several tours. The Apple Wine tour was interesting, but I was expecting to sample some Apple Wine tour. It was more of a historical wine tour than a wine tour with tasting, so I was disappointed about that. The tour overall was great, and I learned a lot of interesting things about Apple wine. That said, I enjoyed walking around in Frankfurt and seeing the Christmas Market. Our room at the Sofitel was nice but very small. This was a hotel I picked, and I probably would not choose it again if you are traveling as a couple. Our Rhine Valley tour was nice. We went to some really nice wineries where they served generous pours. We also went to lunch, which was delicious. The couple we shared our tour with was a lot of fun, too. We then went to Heidelberg.
Unfortunately, the weather was bad, but we still enjoyed learning about the castle and the town's history. The hotel was nice. If you like an older-style hotel, this is the place to stay. The mattresses were very firm. We then went to Baden-Baden, which was my favorite place we visited because of the hotel, shopping, and restaurants. The hotel was absolutely beautiful. I highly recommend this hotel. Service was great, and the decor was perfect. It is right across the street from the Christmas Market, which was beautiful and looked like a scene out of a Hallmark movie. lol. The food was great, and so was the shopping. We went to the thermal spas. This was okay. I wish we had known to bring a robe, a towel, and flip-flops to the spa, which are typically provided. We did not know where to go or how to enter the spa, and the front desk was not helpful. It was okay and could have skipped going here. I would still highly recommend Baden Baden. We really enjoyed our trip and appreciate all the recommendations for restaurants and stops on the way to Wurzberg.

We went on a tour with another couple that we met during the tour. It was fun. They pour generous samples of wine and can taste whatever you want. The wine was great and had something for everyone. Planning our trip was easy and seamless. Mathilde was very helpful and responsive. She was especially helpful when there an issue with the Italian railway system, and was able to change our tickets to a different time and route in order to get us to our next destination with time to spare.

Lucie, our local specialist, helped us plan an amazing weeklong family trip (2 parents + 2 teenage children) to Germany! She was very detail oriented, attentive and communicative throughout the planning process, and our trip went seamlessly thanks to her! We flew in, took a train midway through the trip, and on the last day traveled via rental car, and Lucie booked and scheduled everything so precisely. We were so grateful for all the work she did to organize things so we could just enjoy our family time!

In Germany, we visited Berlin, Munich and Fussen. In Berlin, highlights were a private walking tour of historic sites with Paul, our guide; a tour of the Berlin Story Museum; and a tour of the Natural History Museum. In Munich, shopping at the Marienplatz Christmas Market; dinner at Hofbrahaus; and a tour of the BMW Museum. Lastly, in Fussen, a tour of Neuschwanstein Castle with stunning views of the Alps.

We would highly recommend visiting these sites in Germany and working with Lucie to anyone!

Private Essential Berlin Tour: Landmarks Highlights & History

-Paul, our guide, was kind, attentive, patient, and very knowledgeable -We loved that this was a walking tour; it felt more authentic and interactive as a result -Stops at historic sites (e.g., Brandenburg Gate, Checkpoint Charlie) as well as fun locales like the Rausch Chocolate Shop

Lucie worked with us to make custom arrangements for our 11 day trip to Germany including Berlin, Freiburg, and Munich. She was responsive to our wishes and expectations arranging for train transport, transport from airport/train station to our hotel, booking hotels, arranging private and third party group tours of Berlin, Black Forest, Dachau, and Neuschwannstein. She had suggested with take the train to Potsdam, but we felt more comfortable arranging a tour on our own through Viator.
The hotels were all well located; although NH Collection Berlin Mitte am Checkpoint Charlie seemed a bit run down. The Marriott Courtyard in Freiburg was quite nice, conveniently located to the train station, and just blocks away from Altstadt. Platzl Hotel in Munich was fabulous - the accommodation itself, friendly staff, and convenient location to Marienplatz and nearby restaurants. Our private tour in Berlin by Lee was great and personalized to our interests, as was the tour of the black forest out of Freiburg by Simone. The two arranged group tours were both well organized and informative. Our only concern with the overall arrangements was a very tight connection in Karlsruhe for our train from Freiburg to Munich. If we didn't have the assistance of both train personnel and individuals at the station with our luggage and logistics, we would have missed our connection. If you book with them, be sure to doublecheck connections/layovers.
All in all a great trip and great to work with Lucie.

I don't know if calling the Dachau activity 'amazing' is quite the right term. The history of such a place was so disturbing, but I am glad we were able to go and experience history firsthand. We need to remember how insane humanity can be when following the crowd.

Hein knew a lot! He was a little bit difficult to understand because he talked fast and with an accent that I am not used to, but there was so much to say. I think it would have been a better experience if we had more time to see and read all of the exhibits and not feel so rushed.

The trip started out a little bit rocky. We landed early and got through customs early so our transportation to the hotel was not there yet. Due to construction at the airport, it was unclear where to connect with him since he wasn't there when we arrived but once we found him we were whisked off in a beautiful Mercedes S class car to our hotel. Christoff, our driver pointed out some sights along the way. In Munich, we stayed in the Platz Hotel which was very nice and comfortable and offered amazing breakfasts and was well located near Marienplatz and Vktualienmarkt. There was a mix up with the private walking tour and so we just wandered around on our own but the team gave us a good list of things to see and do. The next day was a tour of Dachau with InMunich Tours. That was an excellent tour and our tour guide, Marcin, was so knowledgeable. It was a sobering experience but very important to see. The next day, we rented a car from Avis which went smoothly and drove to Garmisch. What a beautiful drive! The fall foliage was in full bloom! We stayed at the Hotel Zugspitze which was another very nice hotel with a spa, swimming pool, sauna, Michelin restaurant and lovely breakfast. It was well situated in town and had a view of Zugspitze. The cog train and cable car ride were very picturesque although a little scary for me since I have a fear of heights! The view from the top made it all worth it though! The next day we drove through the beautiful countryside to Neuschwanstein. I wish we had known ahead of time about the climb up the hill. It took longer to get up there than we had anticipated. We almost didn't make it to the tour but it was worth the run up the hill! We visited Linderhof Castle the next day and it was beautiful as well! Onward to Salzburg. The train ride was comfortable and uneventful. Our hotel Dorint was an easy walk from the train station and close to the old town of Salzburg. We walked through the old town and took the funicular up to the fortress where we had excellent views of the city. The following day we had a tour with Fritz from Edelweiss Tours to The Lake District and Hallstatt. He was excellent showing us all the sights along the way to Hallstatt and pointing out things we should do while we were there with our free time. The museum there is very interesting. The following day we toured also with Edelweiss but this time, our guide was Shiva. He took us to Durrbeerg Salt Mine, Berchtsgaden and King's Lake. A great tour to learn about salt mining! Then we headed to Salzburg which was a little confusing because we started on a train then transferred to a but for a couple of hours and then back to the train but finally made it to our next hotel The Archibald at the Charles Bridge.
Another well located and comfortable hotel. We had a Prague city tour with Miriam from Insight Cities where she pointed out all the highlights of the Old Town and New Town. She gave restaurant recommendations, told us of tourist traps to avoid and gave us a good explanation of how to tell time with the astronomical clock. The next day we went to the Clementium and Baroque Library. Really interesting but beware, there are A LOT of stairs! We went on a Prague food tour with Klara from Taste of Prague where she took us all around New and Old Town where we tasted local food and drinks as well as some from other parts of the world. Klara was very passionate about food and drinks! We had a driver take us back to Munich because the train tracks were under construction. It was a very pleasant drive with our driver Joseph. For our last leg, we stayed at Hotel Torbrau. Also well located and comfortable! We did a Munich walking tour with Elisabeth of Discover Munich.She did a great job showing us her favorite places and passageways through the Old Town. We had another beautiful S class Mercedes to take us to the airport the next day for our flight home!

Mathilde Dubuisson was AMAZING to work with. She put together everything perfectly and I could not have asked for a better advisor and trip! She was easy to get in touch with and answered every question I had. I cannot wait to work with her again. :)

We walked and she met us in the hotel.

Lucie gave us excellent service in planning a fourteen day trip to Germany. She diligently listened to our choices of destinations and accommodated all of our changes. She was not only quite friendly, competent and knowledgeable, but patient, working with a senior couple.

I would highly recommend her!

We had a good trip to Berlin and London. Lucie Dupuis did an excellent and professional job of assisting in the planning for our trip. She provided useful and insightful input and recommendations as our trip plan evolved.
All scheduled tours in Berlin were excellent, in particular the tours by Insight Cities (Romin and Justin are certainly two of the best guides we have experienced over our 20+ years of traveling).
In London, our guide for the Westminster Tour, by LivTours and guide, Charlotte Everett (of Rebel Tours) was also excellent.
Also, of particular note, was the superior and high end transport and chauffeur service provided by Blacklane and Klass Chauffeur.
We look forward to working with KimKim on our future travel adventures.

KimKim did a great job planning the trip. The best things were included.The hotels were wonderful. The difficulty came with my inability to use the KimKim apt and stay connected.Meeting the rides was hard but did not cause problems with the flow of the trip. The planning was hard going thru my daughter Molly.

All of our hotels were wonderfully located. We could walk or hop onto public transportation to visit everything we wanted to see. Our bicycle tour in Berlin (Berlin on Bike) was wonderful! Although we were mostly on our own, every city tour was interesting and worthwhile: Berlin on Bike (thank you Pete), walking tour in Dresden (thank you Leo), walking tour in Breslau (so sorry to have forgotten our guide's name), and walking tour in Krakow (thank you Chris). Each guide offered insights about the city and made sure we were comfortable.

We added Zakopane to our itinerary and enjoyed our time there. Once there, we were surprised to find everything very crowded, including pedestrian streets, hiking trails, and mini buses to various trailheads. We were there on a beautiful fall weekend and it seemed many thousands of local tourists were there as well.

We loved being in every city we toured, but if we had to pick a favorite, it's certainly Krakow!

This is a charming hotel and our room was quite spacious and comfortable, with a large closet, nice bathroom, and desk area. We had specified a west or south facing balcony, hoping to sit it the sun in the late afternoon. We had a covered porch that was shaded and looked out on a parking lot, so although it was a nice space, next time we would be more specific about our intentions. The reception staff, especially Veronica, were helpful. We enjoyed our dinners in the hotel restaurant.

It's a very short walk from the hotel to the lovely Old Town. And, it's very close to a tram that goes directly to the train station. Here's a note - trams and buses are free for everyone over 65, so just hop on!

This is a full service hotel with a fabulous location. You can take a tram (#3 or #7) from the train station and be within 2 blocks of the hotel. Once you don't have luggage, it's very easy to take the 5 minute tram ride over the bridge to old town, or walk and take pictures along the way. Our room was comfortable with a table and chairs, and breakfast was just fine.

Berlin By Bike

Bicycling was the perfect way to tour central Berlin. It would have been intimidating to do this on our own in a strange city, but our tour took us on easy-to-navigate streets and included the highlights we wanted to see. It rained at one point and our tour guide had ponchos for everyone!

Our overall trip to Germany was absolutely amazing. We had a one day tour with Thomas to a castle and a palace absolutely incredible. The following day we went to Rothenberg with Antone. Also very good. The hotel was perfect location. Everything handled perfectly.

The entire trip was amazing and everyone I talk to I recommend Kimkim. Prague was great, the driver was excellent, the hotel right in the middle of it all. My brother and I walked around and enjoyed great beer and food, spent a day in Plsen at Paulaner, and saw lots of sights. The train to Salzburg next was great, and we loved the hotel there- and had an unplanned foray into a festival there that we actually attended both nights because it was so much fun (Ruperti Kirtag) and again, lots of amazing local festbiers! Then off to Munich for the grand finale at Oktoberfest. As it turned out there were friends in town who got us into a tent on the first day, but back to the trip plan, Allie and Fat Tire Tours were amazing and we celebrated in the famous Lowenbrau tent with again- amazing food and beer. I highly recommend getting Kimkim to put together an Oktoberfest tour for you!

The Trip was excellent, we had a wonderful time it was well organized.
Here are few specific notes

Oktoberfest Tour, in our itinerary and vouchers the tour was scheduled for 10AM, at the time I reached out to the provider directly the tour started at 10:30 AM. The guides were excellent and we had a great time, there seemed to be confusion on the time the tour started.

Hotel Restaurant Der Engel in Sasbachwalden: Hotel was great, there was some confusion they had us also reserved for dinner in their restaurant both nights, we did not attend dinner there. We thought it worth noting it included breakfast and dinner.

General note some hotels required reservations in advance for parking, it when driving it should be noted which hotels require paid or reserved parking.

Aside for these few notes I would say the trip was really great, we enjoyed all the guided tours and felt we were very well taken care of. We will return to Germany and look forward to our next Kim Kim travel plan in our future travels.
