We started planning our trip to Germany just 1.5 months before our departure, and having Elsa’s help was an absolute lifesaver! Yes, using a service like this means you pay a bit more, but it is a massive stress saver and totally worth the price. It saved us from the headache of researching and booking tickets across countless different merchants under time constraints—especially for highly sought-after attractions like the Neuschwanstein Castle.

From the very beginning, Elsa was great. She took the time to incorporate all of our feedback into a wonderful, truly customized itinerary just for us. She was also very patient answering my many questions and explained everything in detail. When our Rhine River cruise was canceled due to low water levels, she quickly came up with excellent alternative options and seamlessly pivoted our plans to a wonderful small group day trip to Heidelberg instead.

We also had great experiences with a few guides she booked for us. Manu, our river guide for the punt boat experience in Tübingen, was super fun and a pleasure to work with. Shpendi, our guide for the Neuschwanstein Castle, was incredible—he was highly knowledgeable and had great connections that made our visit perfectly smooth.

As a huge bonus, Elsa booked us into the Scandic Hotel in Frankfurt, which was beyond wonderful. It was so great that Scandic will now be our default hotel choice for any future destination that has one! If you want a stress-free, nicely curated trip to Germany, I highly recommend working with Elsa.

We absolutely loved everything about our stay at this hotel! Our suite was fantastic, complete with a complimentary mini-bar and a truly great view of the city landscape. Considering the high quality of the room and the amenities, we felt the price was very reasonable. The breakfast was beyond amazing and became a highlight of our mornings. We absolutely loved every minute of our stay here. In fact, this experience was so incredible that Scandic will now be our default hotel choice for any future travels to destinations that have one. Navigating the transit from Frankfurt was a bit tricky. Our route required taking a regional replacement bus, but the instructions on how it worked and where to locate the stops were quite confusing. Unfortunately, we struggled to find the boarding area in time and ended up missing our planned bus, but thankfully, the next bus got us to our destination on time.

The trip was wonderful. You did an excellent job finding the highlights for us. The hotels were well located and very comfortable. The only comment on the hotels was Berlin . While the location was great, it was not air condidtioned and the room was very small. All the other hotels were perfect.

The guides were knowledgeable and gave us a great overview of the places we visited. They took special requests and always worked with us. The only guide that we were not overly impressed with was the guide in Salzburg. While he was certainly knowledgeable, he walked was ahead of us and it was hard to connect with him. All the others receive 5 stars from us.

The restaurant suggestions were great. You gave us a large choice and we enjoyed them. We eat out quite a bit so this is something we are fairly picky about and we have no complaints. Only that we need to diet now as we seemed to stop at a gelato shop everyday.

Sara - you were responsive both during the planning and while we were traveling and that is so appreciated. We couldn't have asked for a better tour arranger.

Wanted to let you know that we added the suspension bridge in Todnot to our day in the Black Forest and I highly recommend that for others. What a view!

Lucie made planning this trip so easy! She was very good at getting back to me promptly with a proposed trip and then was great to deal with when making modifications to it to create the perfect plan. She did a wonderful job organizing all the car, hotels, and excursions and made it very easy for us and had a lot of great suggestions. When we had an issue or two on the trip (eg one hotel wanted to charge me again for the room), she was very helpful and got them resolved. Unfortunately, we couldn't find parking or the tour and missed it! That was a real disappointment. I tried calling the tour company phone number given, but n o one picked up.

Our favorite guide by far was Phillip. Hr was phenomenal

Everything worked well, except the “self-tour” of Rothenburg. While the app worked, it regularly did not and was very hard to use. Would not recommend it, nor permit another client to use it. The tour guide at Nuremberg was amazing. Overall a great experience.

We cannot say enough about the service Sara and KimKim provided in making a bucket list 2-week trip to Germany come true. Over several iterations and many location changes, Sara provided timely and helpful advice and a full range of options. Once we got our itinerary finalized, she was super prompt to assemble the details. We are very happy we upgraded our hotel selections from our original plan, thanks to her assistance. The trip planning was almost perfect, minus one challenge related to a car rental office not being open. (Not KimKim's fault!) This is our second trip with KimKim, and we are true believers. 🏰 Neuschwanstein Castle Skip-the-Line Tour – A Smooth Visit to Bavaria’s Iconic Castle

Steven did an admirable job guiding us to and through the castle given the circumstances. There was a big thunderstorm so we gathered and walked up to the castle in a gusty downpour. Everyone was soaked! It was interesting that he was not able to get us into the castle in our given timeframe, so we stood around outside for 30 minutes. The castle is astonishing, but you are rushed through it and so it's hard to truly savor the experience.

Most of the trip was good.. we had a few misunderstandings along the way and some changes to the original itinerary. We did see a lot and the overall experience was good.

Amazing vacation and good communication with Lucie. We added a traveler last minute, which I can't believe Lucie was able to do for us! We had a couple of hiccups, but KimKim and Lucie were able to resolve via phone calls and chat. We enjoyed all she planned for us and it was a great balance of fun and downtime (which we needed!). Appreciated her recommendations as they were perfect.

Our trip to Germany was wonderful and memorable.

Lucie did a phenomenal job listening to what was important to my wife and me. We wanted to visit several concerts, and Lucie was willing to go the extra mile for us. Each hotel was wonderful and provided a different glimpse of Germany.

However, the truly special part of our trip was the private tours we took at each stop. Each guide was wonderful. Our guide, Evan, in Hamburg was truly outstanding. He was very communicative with us and accommodated our delayed arrival due to troubles on DB.

Lucie was also accommodating, as I had a strong interest in practicing German with her before the trip and during the tour. She was very patient with me. I asked her to plan something special for our 32nd wedding anniversary, and she did not disappoint.

We had some difficulties with the ICE trains in Germany. During our short stay, we had two trains canceled and two delayed. We both had to stand (despite our first-class reserved tickets) on the train from Hamburg to Berlin. Additionally, I had to stand from Erfurt to Göttingen. We tried to use the help line, but the answer was to connect with the DB help desk. This was the only disappointing part of our trip. I really feel DB should give a discount.

Sara helped us plan a wonderful trip to Germany including stays in Cologne, Heidelberg and Munich. Every hotel was comfortable and conveniently located near the major attractions. The tours were informative, engaging, and a lot of fun. Sara took the time to understand our travel goals and created a personalized itinerary that exceeded our expectations. She was also readily available to help when we had some confusion with our train schedule, which gave us great peace of mind. We highly recommend KimKim to anyone looking for a well-organized personalized vacation experience.

Everything was very good, our tour guids were nice and transportation to the hotels and to the airport. One thing was a problem we might nedeed more assistance is rental car. It was advised to contact car company that did not work . The car was a little mess . No cameras or GPS were working. Anyway, i is not fault of Sara. She was amazing. Hotels choices and recommendations were excellent.

From The Reformation to The Sound of Music

My sweet wife, Savannah, and I found our time in Germany and Austria to be truly memorable. Even with a few hiccups, such as canceled flights and lost luggage, the comfort and ease of KimKim's hotel and shuttle reservations helped us find stability throughout our trip. With all the hotel, attraction, and museum tickets, and even restaurant suggestions, we felt right at home navigating large cities like Berlin, Munich, and Vienna, as well as quaint towns like Wittenberg, Erfurt, and Rothenburg ob der Tauber. No matter where we were on our trip, we knew we could trust the local knowledge provided by our KimKim app.

Our visit to Wittenberg was a highlight, especially our tour with Mathias. He is very knowledgeable and enthusiastically shared each story from Martin Luther's life. As a member of the local church — the very one where Luther preached during his time there — Mathias provided us with a private tour. It was clear he loves his town and is proud of its history.

We had wonderful meals, especially in Rothenburg and Salzburg. Lots and lots of great beer was consumed. One can never go wrong ordering a helles at the local beer hall.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our 'Sound of Music' bike tour with guide Chloe. It gave us an up-close experience of Salzburg, revealing its beauty. After the tour, we both agreed that Salzburg is the most incredible place we've ever visited. It combines a charming small-town atmosphere with lots of activities.

We highly recommend this service and will definitely use KimKim for our next trip abroad.

I thought a long time about this review. It was an absolutely awesome trip.
Berlin is the city of my heart. I did not want to leave. It is clean, safe, friendly, and beautiful. We did have to walk a LOT because our phones did not work outside the hotel. I had thought this would likely be the case but also thought there would be prepaid phone stores with travel phones. We never found those. Our amazing walking tour guide, Lee Evan, told us we could get a SIM at the O2 store in the subway. The SIMs don’t work with iPhones but one of us has a Samsung android. It was only data so gave us GPS but not the ability to call a taxi or verify a phone number to use a rideshare app. If we didn’t find anyone to call a cab we just walked. We did find a pharmacy and got Neurofen (ibuprofen) and a generic for Volteran pain creme to rub on our feet. The pharmacist was very helpful.
Dresden is pretty with amazing architecture.
We had a Prague 1 and Prague 2. Because we had to stay an extra night we got a different hotel on a different side of Prague and it was the Prague I had imagined.
To explain, and this has no impact on this review but when moving our luggage from Dresden to Prague I left a small bag on the train. It had my passport. I didn’t bring a purse or crossbody bag because I had heard thieves cut the strap and take them. (We had no encounters like that at all and lots of people carry crossbody bags there). I would suggest when moving luggage from place to place to use a crossbody bag or a waist pouch (bum bag or fanny pack depending on the country) for the passport so it isn’t part of the luggage you have to gather and always of course keep your drivers license and credit card in a small wallet in your front pocket like at home.
So Prague part 1. The lift at the Prague Season hotel wasn’t working so we had to take our luggage up five levels of stairs. They said it would be repaired that evening. It was not. That day was a one day heatwave. We went out anyway. The area was dirty and had graffiti. There were penis things just out in display windows. Penis candles, giant stuffed penis, little plastic figures having sex, and every marajuana themed thing you can imagine. We walked to the astronomical clock, took some pictures there but while we were waiting at the clock I started to get sick from the heat so we headed back to the hotel. By the time I got up five floors I was throwing up. Fortunately ONE of our rooms had air conditioning so we all went in there. I forget what activity we had because we had to cancel. We all spent the night in the room with air conditioning both nights we were there. We all thought we hated Prague.
The little village where the Sedlac Ossuary is located is cute. The person who really wanted to see the bone church was awestruck by it. I was enchanted by the village. It was much cooler that day and we spent a lot of time at the little cafe across from the church having lunch and drinks. None of us wanted to go back to Prague.
Prague part 2. The lift at the hotel did get fixed but even though we had to stay an extra day because of the passport issues we did not want to stay there! We got an air conditioned room at a hotel called The Golden Wheel. The area around there is everything we thought Prague would be! We nearly walked our feet off trying to see it all and at night there is a horror movie themed pub and a real goth bar. There was also an amazing music festival coming up but sadly, we had to go home. 😢

Valentine was absolutely wonderful to work with from start to finish. From our very first Zoom call, she took the time to really understand our family dynamic what we enjoy, what we don’t, and how we like to travel. That level of care made a huge difference. She created a thoughtful and well-balanced itinerary that perfectly blended history, culture, and outdoor experiences across Munich and Garmisch-Partenkirchen. The initial plan was already great, and she was very flexible in helping us tweak a few things to better fit our needs. In the end, everything came together seamlessly.

Some highlights from our trip:
1. The Dachau Concentration Camp memorial visit was deeply moving and very well organized.
2. The Munich e-bike tour was a lot of fun and a great way to see the city especially it happened on Sunday which was a lot easier to navigate through than the other days.
3. Our private driver and guide Tom, who took us to Neuschwanstein Castle, was exceptional, he was not only knowledgeable but also very fun to be around, which made the entire day even more enjoyable.
4. Garmisch-Partenkirchen was stunning, and Hotel Zugspitze was excellent—especially the breakfast. The Zugspitze and the Partnach Gorge were unforgettable experiences
5. Our Nuremberg tour with Kevin was truly the most memorable—he made the day special for all of us

Day trip to Nuremberg by train

Our day trip to Nuremberg by train was wonderful. It’s a beautiful town with so much character, and I personally loved it. The mix of history and charm made it a very memorable stop on our trip. Our private tour guide, Kevin, truly made the experience even better. The whole family loved him—he was very personable, engaging, and easy to be around. He took us around the town and beyond, making sure we saw all the highlights while keeping things interesting and enjoyable. Overall, it was a great experience, and Kevin made the day extra special for us.

Visiting Zugspitze was an incredible experience. It was absolutely beautiful to be on top of the clouds—something we won’t forget. The panoramic views from the summit are truly stunning and well worth the trip. We also stopped by Eibsee afterwards. Getting there was also very convenient. We took the bus from the station near our hotel, which made the journey simple and easy. Overall, it was a unique and memorable experience, and a must-do when visiting the area.

Our private tour from Munich to Neuschwanstein Castle was one of the highlights of our trip. Everything was smooth, well organized, and perfectly timed. Tom, our driver and guide, was exceptional—he was not only very knowledgeable but also incredibly fun to be around, which made the entire day even more enjoyable. He picked us up right on time and even messaged us on WhatsApp to let us know he was on his way, which we really appreciated. We arrived at the castle early, before it got too crowded, which made a big difference. Tom had all the tickets ready and guided us efficiently, even showing us a few shortcuts along the way. It made the whole experience feel easy and stress free. In addition to Neuschwanstein, Tom also took us to Linderhof and Ettal, which were beautiful and well worth the visit. He was also great at taking photos for us, making sure we captured some wonderful memories throughout the day. Overall, this was a fantastic experience, and Tom truly made it special for us.

Best of Munich E-Bike Tour

The e-bike tour was a fantastic way to explore Munich and ended up being one of the most fun activities of our trip. Interestingly, we were included with a regular bicycle group instead of all e-bikes, but it wasn’t an issue at all. The group dynamic worked well, and everyone kept a comfortable pace, so we still really enjoyed the experience. Simon, our tour guide, was great—he kept the ride fun, engaging, and informative throughout. He did an excellent job balancing history with lighthearted moments, which made the tour enjoyable for everyone. The highlights for us were definitely the stop at the beer garden and seeing the river surfers, which added a unique and memorable touch to the experience. Overall, it was a fun, relaxed, and memorable way to see the city, and I would highly recommend it.

Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial

Our visit to the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial was a deeply moving and meaningful experience. It’s truly a place that leaves a lasting impression. The tour guide was excellent—very knowledgeable, communicated clearly, and did a great job helping us navigate through the camp while sharing important historical context with sensitivity and respect. Having a good guide made a big difference in understanding the significance of the site. The only downside for me personally was the group size. With around 25 people, it felt a bit large at times, and I would have preferred a smaller group for a more personal experience. Overall, it was a powerful and well-organized tour, and I’m very glad we included it in our trip.

-- Blacklane: One of the best decisions we made was to use "transfers" to & from hotels and to & from train stations or airports. Blacklane was totally professional, prompt, beyond helpful and always made us feel that we were safe and in good hands.... 5 stars!
-- Livtours: They were another blessing for us. We loved the small group size of no more than 6 and on several occasions we were the only ones with the guide. They were very professional, knowledgeable, personable, and made our tours very memorable.... 5 stars!
-- Hotels: kimkim.com and Mathilde did a great job of picking our hotels for us. Location and culture were a huge part of her selections. We trusted her totally in very hotel selection and were very satisfied.... 5 stars!
-- Events: We felt that Mathilde chose highly selected tickets for our tours and events.
- The seating for the Flamenco Show & Dinner in Barcelona was perfect!
- Our table for our Seine River Dinner Cruise in Paris was perfect!
- Our table for the Moulin Rouge Dinner Show in Paris was right up front at the stage and again, perfect!
- Jim absolutely loved the cooking class in Florence!
- And then there was Mother's Day (May 10th in the US) and the Spanish Lippizan Horse Show! We were in the
box seats, row 4, perfectly centered for the performance! What a perfect, special event for Mother's Day!
- And finally, we loved the 24/7 access that was made available for help when needed.

Amazing adaptability, catering and planning from our Kimkim specialist Lucie. Quick turnaround and really worked to ensure we got the itinerary we wanted. We didn't have a lot of guides on this one, but our private tour to Giethoorn was led by a champ. One of us was sick and he was very accommodating. Our private transfers to and from the airport were better than others we've had as well. Another memorable trip in the books!

Can't really complain as long as you know what you're getting into. Decent priced in the heart of the city. No real breakfast. Get your own cups and coffee/tea pods from downstairs. Basic toiletries and in-room supplies. Check yourself in and out. But other than that quite clean and roomy. A/c worked well. Basic necessities at basic pricing.

Travel agent Valentine was very friendly, professional and accommodating.
All transfers/ car service were very punctual and professional. Stewart in Edinburgh provided us with nice commentary of the city on the way in from airport.
Circus Hotel in Berlin was very centrally located - close to public transportation, surrounded by many restaurants and within reasonable walking distance to many major sights. However, the staff was not as service oriented or attentive as expected. The included breakfast was average and the service below par. The room was clean and good sized, but a bit dark.
Hotel du Vin in Edinburgh was excellent! Very charming, clean, large room and very centrally located by the royal mile. The staff was great, very friendly, professional and service oriented. Ex. Our departure time was at 6am before restaurant was open so the reception person offered us coffee and the restaurant manager prepared a bag w freshly baked croissants n pain au chocolates to take on our ride to airport.
Tour guide in Berlin was very thorough, knowledgeable and a wealth of information- hit all the major sights in the city and gave us excellent historical information.
The 3 hr. tour in Potsdam was a waste of time- it tired us out - should not have requested the tour. our tour guide Alex, although friendly was boring and just talked for 3 hours. It would have been a better experience to walk through the charming city, maybe 1 hr, and proceed to the grounds of the Sans Soucis palace to explore the gardens and other buildings there. The palace tour was wonderful and we were glad to have tickets to that included visit to the whole venue.
Tour guide Kate in Edinburgh was excellent! She was friendly, had a wealth of historical and anecdotal knowledge of the city and thoroughly covered all major sights. Really enjoyed our 3 hours with her.
The Johnny Walker Whiskey and Chocolate experience was a lot of fun! My husband enjoyed the scotch tasting and I loved the chocolate! We enjoyed hearing about the history of the company and how whiskey is made. Had something to eat at the cafe at top of building which was delightful!
