My family enjoyed our trip to Peru. All the amazing places that we wanted to see, we’ve visited at no time! Our tour guide Luiz of Cusi Travel is very helpful and smart! He was always ready to provide us his hiking sticks to help us while hiking, he was very helpful. . He kept us focus to what he was trying to explain to us. We leaned so much about Peru because of Luiz . Our visit to Salt Mines we’re fantastic! The person ( I forgot his name) who tour us and guide us at Mountain View was very nice. We enjoyed our food and the people ate fantastic at Mountain View. Our ATV ride was awesome the view of the mountain is so awesome and the Llmas and the Alpacas are so cute. We love everything about our Peru trip. We will definitely refer Johanna and Kimkim to our friends and family. Thank you guys for making our Peru trip so memorable! I am not so sure if this hotel is near to any restaurants, busy streets, etc. because we only stayed for a night but who cares, a day or 2 of quietness is great for our body.

Our tour guide Luiz is very patient and knowledgeable with everything, the whole family enjoyed his story of how rich the history of Peru and richness of Peru itself. Our driver is amazing. He drives careful and cares about his passenger hai his van. Our mountain view guides are great as well. He was very calm and gracious to us. The staff at mountain view restaurants are very friendly and the food was so yummy. We love the view of the mountain and the alpacas. We love how we are surrounded by the goats, alpaca and the Llmas while eating. They are so cute and friendly animals!

Our driver ( I forgot his name) is great. Our tour guide Luiz and our driver were fantastic ! They are lovely people. We are like family! We created friendship during our stay. Our trip have become memorable because of them and to all people we met and helped us starting with the 2 people (a man and a woman) who welcomed us from the airport and they were the ones who transported us back to the airport at the end of our trip. So helpful of them to return our passport when we accidentally left them in the van, totally my fault., argh!

On time all the time! The drivers and the staff are very patient, helpful. I was surprised by the ability of our driver ( I forgot his name) he is one of the best driver I’ve met in my whole life. I even joke my husband that he met his counterpart, he is as good as him when driving. He drives carefully and cares about his passengers and his van.

My husband and I knew we wanted to go to Peru for our honeymoon, but we weren't sure how to make the most of the time we had on our own. I found Kristy through Kimkim.com, and she was amazing from start to finish! She helped us to find the best balance of all the things we wanted to do within a budget that worked for us. She also got us connected with some really great guides through Lima Gourmet (Sylvia is a gem!) and Cusi Travel (Edy and Jose Luis are the best!). Our guides were very knowledgable and we are grateful to have gotten to see Peru history and culture from their local perspective.

We had an amazing trip to Peru! We worked with the Peru specialists on our itinerary and they kept changing it until it was just what we wanted.
Pepe was our guide in the Amazon and he made everything super fun and was very knowledgeable.
Justino was our guide in Cusco, Machu Picchu, and Puno. He was fantastic! Took us to great restaurants and was a great guide on our hikes. We packed al lot into our time there but all the transportation and accommodations were good. Felt very well taken care of and in good hands. So many great memories made. Thanks for a wonderful trip.

A week well spent and planned in Peru- starting from Lima, going to Cuzco, day trips, Machu Picchu and Rainbow Mountain- all day tours were great and memorable. Some days were quite long- this had to do with my limited time (1 week) but all in all the week went well and all excursions worked out and no delays anywhere. I would have liked to have a more extensive tour at MP and if would have known my tour was combined with a small group that just had 2 hours time.

All guides, excursions started prompt- hotel and airport pick-ups always very punctual- this is a great advantage of KimKim. Also having an operational manager available per whats-app is super.

I would definitely recommend the Rainbow Mountain tour- its a long day, but very worthwhile. And include the Amazonia in your trip- I stayed at the InkaTerra and that was such a lovely experience.

The itinerary is very helpful- you know day by day what to expect and there were no unexpected changes. Also all the flights were booked and with the LATAM app its very easy to check-in and board the plane.

All in all a great week.

Very quiet location and quiet hotel- people respect each other and at night you can sleep really well. Great breakfast and good beds and shower- nice touch was the warm water jug in bed on night one. Other nights I did not get this, yet it was cold. Wifi signal very good and would definitely recommend this place if you look for a eco-friendly hotel with a personal touch- very attentive staff!

In the middle of nature- amazing rooms, they have all the luxury you need and the location is fabulous. There is a lot of good detail such as the oil lamp in the bathroom at night, flashlight, hammocks in your room with great view, space for safe storage, great bed covered by mosquito net. The excursions were great and not rushed at all. Food was wonderful- buffet for breakfast as well as a menu for eggs, pancakes, lunch and dinner a la carte and wide variety of tasty options. Nice lounge area in the main building.

Tips for future travelers

Yes- the hotel should instruct visitors more about keeping quiet and be aware that rooms are " open" and just be mindful and respectful to all guests and not scream.

After being frustrated with the responsiveness and plan put together by a different travel agent (who we'd actually used before and liked), we turned to KimKim based on a family recommendation. Everything about our experience with KimKim was excellent.

* Within hours of the original request, Johanna had put together a custom itinerary for our 2 week trip to Peru.
* Johanna was prompt in responded to questions and changes, incorporating her ideas into our own seamlessly.
* During our trip, one of the cities we were supposed to visit had their airport close for an entire week. Johanna and her counterpart Kristy responded quickly to update our trip. Additionally, because the updated itinerary was cheaper, they quickly processed a refund for us.
* Also during the trip, I tested positive for Covid. Johanna called us directly and helped us understand our options in an honest but incredibly helpful manner.

He is so knowledgeable about Incan and Peruvian culture and history. Julio is the most incredibly patient and sweet tour guide anyone can ask for. He anticipated our needs, gave us great advice for acclimating to the altitude, cheered us on during our hike, and always did it with a smile on his face. He constantly checked in on us to see how we were feeling and making sure we were having a best experience in Peru. Eddie, our guide in Machu Picchu was excellent as well. He was also very patient with us during our hike up Huyana Picchu. Our entire experience with the Peruvian Soul team has been an amazing one. The fantastic and unforgettable Peru trip!
We had a wonderful 19 days trip in Peru. Johanna was very patient with me, customizing the trip itinerary and the hotels to my satisfaction. We started at Inkaterra Hacienda Concepcion where we met several new friends. We then explored Sacred Valley, the incredible Machu Picchu, Cusco and the beautiful Rainbow mountain. The bad bumpy roads between Cusco-Ollantaytambo, Cusco- Rainbow mountain made our journey harder and very tiring. Our guide, Raul, Cusi travel was very nice and knowledgeable.
The PeruRail train ride to Lake Titicaca was memorable as well as the visit to Floating island and Taquile island.
Most of our tours were private except the Colca Canyon tour to see the Andean condors. The group tour guide, Luis Angel was very fluent in English and has sense of humor. He explained the history by telling stories.
Dalia, the agent for domestic flights was very helpful and thoughtful, checking in every flight for us and emailing us the boarding passes. We really appreciate it since we did not have internet access all the time.
We loved the stay at Casa Andina Premium Valle Sagrado, Sacred Valley and Colca Lodge Spa & Hot Springs, Colca Valley. Both have beautiful breath taking views and extremely peaceful atmosphere.
The entire trip was smooth, never have to worry about picking us up at the airport or hotel except on return to Lima. However, Johanna took care of the issue right away. Kristy, the owner of Miski travel also contacted us, made us feel safe and satisfied.
I'm very grateful to Johanna, Kristy and their team, tour operators and tour guides for our amazing trip in Peru! Thank you Kimkim .

Our travel specialist, Nicholas Cino, was a joy to work with. We spent approximately 6 months planning our trip and had multiple calls and e-mail exchanges during the process. All the planning paid off and our 13 day trip was memorable and everything and more that we had wished for. Nico was very patient about answering our many questions and flexible when we wanted to change things. Nico has a unique personal touch that showed in all of our interactions.
Our guide in Cusco, the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu was Jesus Galimberti and he was amazing. He was incredibly knowledgeable about Peru and it’s history and had a warm personality who was easy to spend lots of time with. We quickly felt like he was our friend as well as our guide (he also made good restaurant recommendations in Cusco).
We fell in love with Cusco, it’s rich history and both it’s Inca and colonial architecture. The Plaza de Armas, the cobblestone streets and alleys, sitting at a cafe watching people go by, it’s incredibly charming. The highlight of the trip without a doubt was Machu Picchu. Seeing pictures does not do it justice, the first sight takes your breath away and it is simply awe inspiring. You can’t believe the advanced building techniques and degree of precision that the Incas possessed.
Our last 3 days were spent in the Amazon Rainforest and getting there is an adventure in itself. We saw several species of monkeys and birds including colorful macaws, went on a sunset cruise and a experienced an intense jungle rainstorm.
Our trip was a resounding success and we highly recommend Nicholas and KimKim.

We had such an amazing trip to Peru, thanks to KimKim. Our local specialist, Liz, listened to our preferences to build a memorable itinerary. We had a great mix of food/culture and adventure, between Lima, Huacachinca, Cusco, and Machu Picchu. On the trip itself all of the guides were very friendly and knowledgeable and provided private tours that felt very special. Our trip required a lot of logistics (I.e., many vans, buses, trains, and planes), and each transfer felt seamless and safe. Highly recommend!

Our trip to Peru was amazing! When we arrived to Cusco we were greeted by Justino, an amazing tour guide who faciliated our trip and excursions in Cusco, Machu Picchu, and Rainbow Mountain. He was very knowledgeable about the architecture, culture, and made our experience very memorable. When then arrived at Peurto Maldonaldo to explore the Amazon, where we met our tour guide Freddy. We had a great boat ride to our Amazon bungaloo. We enjoyed authentic food and had great rainforest and boat tours. The entire trip was very smooth from arrival to departure. We definitely recommend this company if you are interested in exploring Peru, especially for the first time!

I was so impressed with the trip that Anne organized for us. We had various things that we wanted to do, and she was able to accommodate all of those things! The places we stayed were beautiful and comfortable and truly added to the experience of visiting the marvelous country of Peru. We also hit a couple of snags during our trip, and Anne was able to help us think of the best solutions to work around our dilemmas.
The only thing that I would have appreciated was more information on travel/passport requirements before paying for the trip. They gave us the info we needed after we paid, and only then did we realize that my husbands passport would have to be renewed before we could go on our trip. This resulted in about a delay while we waited for my husbands passport, which although it wasn't the end of the world, was a bit disappointing.
Regardless, I could not have been happier with the service received through kimkim with the help of Anne. If you are wondering if they are a good choice, the answer is yes! Thank you so much for such an amazing experience!!

Tips for future travelers

I would recommend that you bring someone who speaks Spanish with you, as its in a part of Peru that doesn't see many foreign tourists. Also be aware that if you fly into Jauja (the closest airport) you may need to be slightly flexible with your trip plans. Our flight was cancelled and then our new flight was delayed. So be aware of that if you choose to come here!

When we started planning our trip to Peru we were overwhelmed by all the options we had and all the places we wanted to see. By working with Liz Karen she was able to pick the best of the best options for our family. Every detail was planned from the minute we arrived in Lima and included the most amazing tours and excursions including private tours of Lima, Cusco, Machu Pichu, and a rock climbing/ziplining adventure over the Sacred Valley in Peru. Our guides were knowledgable and friendly and there was not a detail missed. Liz even arranged for us to be Covid tested on the final day so we had a simple entry back into the United States. We had the experience of a lifetime in Peru! Jesus was so helpful in planning our trip with the restraints that we gave him. He worked with us on fitting all of our desired excursions in our timeframe. There were occasional delays in response time, but communication overall was very timely. Some of the transportation/timing details were not entirely clear to us at times. For me, the more details the better, so I would've appreciated being told things like where our driver would be waiting for us at the airport or what time we might expect to have free time to grab lunch on a given day. One big thing I was missing was transit time, as we often didn't know if we'd be in the car for 30 minutes or several hours until we actually got in the car and asked. I suggest always bringing extra snacks and water in case you're out and about longer than anticipated!

Here is how we spent our time in Peru!
1 free day in Lima: We walked around Miraflores and went to Museo Larco. The museum had lots of pre-Inca and Inca relics, which were so beautiful and fascinating. We had some trouble waiting on Uber rides and having them canceled, but we eventually got to where we wanted to go.
1 day in Cusco with walking tour: The flight from Lima to Cusco was short and sweet. We met our guide, Fredy, who would be with us for the rest of the week. The tour around Cusco was so interesting! We went during Holy Week, so we also got to see a huge gathering of people in the plaza celebrating. We got really good drinks at Museo del Pisco!
1 day exploring Incan ruins on the journey to Machu Picchu: Lots of really big rocks in really cool formations! One of our favorite parts of the whole trip was feeding the llamas, alpacas, and guanacos at Sulca. We got to participate in a traditional Inca dining experience called "pachamanca", which was so unique. When we finally got to Aguas Calientes outside of Machu Picchu, our hotel was right on the bank of a roaring river. We had a great dinner at Julian a couple doors down!
1 day at Machu Picchu: No words can describe this incredible experience. The views were just breathtaking! Afterwards, we explored Aguas Calientes a bit more and ended up renting swimsuits to go into the hot springs.
1 day hiking Palccoyo (unable to do Rainbow Mountain as originally planned): It was about a 4 hour drive to get here, which we didn't know until getting in the car. We also had to switch plans because Rainbow Mountain was closed due to disagreement among the communities. The hike was no joke in terms of elevation! The views were well worth the physical exertion, though. We had a beautiful picnic by a stream afterward, which was so lovely. When we got back to Cusco, we had dinner at Uchu, which was AMAZING!
1 free day in Cusco prior to departure: We got to explore more of the city and just take it all in before leaving :)

The bus trip is a bit unsettling at some points, but the bus drivers seem like they really know what they're doing.

Our family has traveled to many places, and we have never used a trip planning service before, much less had guides! Anne was incredible. She answered all of our questions promptly, gave us recommendations for everything - favorite candies, where to eat, what to eat to taste Peru, and what to pack. She listened carefully to all of our needs. We are a family of four - 2 adults, and 2 kids ages 11 and 13. We wanted to share this experience with my widowed 71 years young mother, since she sadly lost her travel partner years ago. While Mom worked on physical therapy for her knee, Anne worked on our plans. She rearranged events to make them all fit into our time span of 9 days. We had a long list of "must do's" and Anne made them all happen without a single glitch. She was there the moment we arrived at the airport with a driver. Then during our first morning, she walked us through parts of Lima, where we found a fabulous brunch and money exchange. Anne made sure we understood our entire plan for the week, and helped us secure our luggage with the hotel so we could go sand boarding and sledding in the Chilca dunes. From there, we went to the Amazon, then Ollantaytambo, Cusco, and of course Matchu Picchu and Aguas Calientes. Because of our ambitious travel plans, Anne made all of our connections happen. We took all modes of transportation - boats, zip lines, busses, vans, cars, planes, and a train. We felt completely safe and comfortable the entire trip. We never had to worry with ticket lines, or even keeping up with tickets. Our tour company and our guides handled it all. All of our hosts at hotels, lodges, and boutiques were courteous, accommodating, and made us feel at home. The food was incredible. We are all so disappointed in fruit and nuts now that we are home - Peru spoiled us forever. Our guides - Anne, Luis, and Jesus - made us feel like family and taught us more than we ever knew we should know about Peru's people, beautiful land and resources, culture, history, and current events. Their love and enthusiasm for their country is infectious. I have been recommending Anne, Jesus, Luis, Peruvian Soul, and KimKim to all of my friends and family since we returned less than a week ago. I've bored all my friends and family with all of our postcard photoshopped looking pictures. I still cannot believe the trip we had - it really seems unreal. Our next trip will definitely start with KimKim. Hopefully we will return to Peru soon - and when we do - I'm going to What's App Anne directly and tell her we're ready for part 2!!

Lunch at the Shores of Piuray Lake

First, it is really difficult to choose a favorite on our trip. But this one is near or at the top because it felt like we were the only ones for miles around, and we were at someone's property for a nice lunch. The food was incredible, authentic, and varied. We were able to talk with the women who cooked the meal and see the way food was prepared. There were some adorable alpacas and other farm animals just casually hanging out near the shore while we ate. The setting was breathtaking, unreal, and quiet. During a trip when you're seeing and processing so much at once, it was nice to sit for a moment and be still and appreciate your environment and the people who live here.

Recently came home from a wonderful vacation in Peru, and everything about it was FANTASTIC!!!! The tour was crafted perfectly for our group, and despite some obstacles outside of anyone's control, our guide was quick to course correct and ensure that we still enjoyed every second of our journey. I cannot say enough wonderful things about our tour guide Julio. He is extremely knowledgeable, very patient, and fun to be around. I learned so much about Peru because of how thorough Julio was. Our driver Roberto was just as good, and made sure that we made it to all of our destinations safely, and on time. We spent most of our time in Cusco, but I must say that our time in Lima with Ximena was a blast, and we learned so much about the food and culture. Last but not least, Anne crafted an itinerary that gave us the most rewarding experience in Peru, and we have created memories that will last a lifetime.

I am so glad that we found Kristy through kimkim. From the beginning, Kristy has been extremely helpful and patient as she answered all of our questions about a trip to Peru. Clearly, she has a lot of knowledge about the country. She was always trying to get us the best experience within our budget and came up with various options for us. Whenever there was a curve ball (postponement due to Omicron variant, transportation strikes in Peru), Kristy and team were prepared to adjust things as needed. We are very thankful for the peace of mind and security we were able to get knowing that we were relying on experts on the ground and didn't have to worry about going to a new country where we barely spoke the language. Special shout-out to Cesar in Cusco who was an amazing guide for us. This team always went above and beyond what we expected from them. Fully deserved 5-stars.

Discovering the Treasures of Machu Picchu

Machu Picchu was the dream destination in Peru. Kristy and team made it work for us in spite of having to change tickets at the very last minute due to circumstances beyond our control. We ended up doing a day-trip to Machu Picchu from Cusco. Our local guide, Cesar, made sure that the day was as comfortable as possible and allowed us enough time there to enjoy the unique beauty and history of the place.
