Day Trip from Marrakech to Ouzoud Waterfalls, Marrakesh

Overview

Discover some of the most beautiful cascades in Morocco, the Ouzoud Waterfalls near the traditional Berber village of Ouzoud. In the local Berber language, Ouzoud translates to "the act of grinding grain." You'll understand its namesake once you see the powerful set of waterfalls dropping over 360 feet (110 m) into the El-Abid River Gorge. This excursion is a wonderful way to experience Morocco's natural beauty.

Starting early in the morning, your private driver will bring you from Marrakech to Ouzoud, which takes about three hours. On arrival, a local guide will welcome you to the village and tell you a little about the area's geological and cultural history. Then, you'll follow your guide along a fairly easy route to the waterfalls, passing through olive groves. Keep an eye out for the local monkeys of the region! As you hike, your guide will continue to share interesting stories and history.

Once you reach the waterfalls, enjoy some free time walking around the cascades, taking photos, and absorbing the scenery. Upon returning to Ouzoud, you'll meet with a local Berber family. Together, enjoy an authentic meal cooked by the family and taste traditional Moroccan cuisine.
