What you'll do

Begin your culinary journey at a meeting spot in Lagos' Old Town, where you'll join your local guide and the rest of your small group and set off for an evening of cuisine, culture, and history. As you walk through the charming cobbled streets, your first stop will be a traditional eatery known for its incredible fish dishes. Sample grilled sardines, a beloved Algarve specialty, along with other seafood delicacies that highlight the region's maritime heritage.

Over the next three hours, your "movable feast" continues to three more local restaurants/taverns handpicked by your guide, where you'll get the chance to taste over 10 traditional regional dishes accompanied by local wines and drinks. In between each stop, you'll learn more about the history of Lagos as your guide points out key landmarks and hidden corners, and shares stories of local life. As your last tasting winds down and you share a final toast, you'll part ways with your guide to continue your explorations or head back to your hotel.

I really enjoyed this tour. Our guide was exceptional - Sophie. She was warm, funny and knowledgeable. She took us to all the holes in the wall in Old Town Lagos. Some really authentic dishes. I would have liked to a little more history, but it was a food tour. Read more

The Evening Food Walk in the Algarve was definitely one of the highlights for me. I'm a big fan of food tours, and this one did not disappoint. It was an excellent way to taste the local cuisine and learn more about the culture. I highly recommend this activity to anyone visiting the area.

Sofia rocked! What a kind, funny, smart young woman. We had a larger group and she made sure to spend time with each member. We were all from Germany, Canada and the States and everyone felt at home with her. She took us to local restaurants to eat local foods. She gave us historical knowledge on our walk of all the things we saw. It was more than a food walk. Read more

Our guide is local to the area and very knowledgeable about the food and wine. She has built connections with the owners of each stop—family-owned businesses! We went to four different restaurants and had a variety of foods, including chorizo sausage, stingray (which was delicious and was my favorite), razor clams, soup, and a lot more! I highly recommend going to Restaurante Matobiche! Husband/Wife owners- the wife is the cook, and the husband is the server- only two employees. Love love... Read more
