What you'll do

Venture into Spain's highest mountain range, the Sierra Nevada, for a guided hiking adventure. The trip begins with a hotel pick-up and a 30-minute drive from Granada to the tranquil Monachil village in Parque Nacional de Sierra Nevada. You'll enjoy views of Andalusia's rolling countryside and ice-topped mountains during the journey.

At Monachil, lace up your hiking shoes and set off on the popular 5-mile (8 km) Los Cahorros Trail. First, you'll meander downhill through traditional farms and olive groves while your guide offers insights into rural life in Andalusia. Continue along the famous loop trail, which is lined with fruit trees and wildflowers, watching out for daring rock climbers who come to scale the surrounding mountain faces.

Next, the trail leads into a dramatic gorge, where you'll cross wooden hanging bridges, pausing to take photos of the dizzying views below. Follow the river along the bottom of the gorge, passing waterfalls and rock pools. Along the way, you'll scramble over rocks and squeeze through narrow caves and tunnels, sometimes using metal hand holds.
