What you'll do

Meet your guide in Amalfi and get fitted with your kayak (typically a double) and life jacket before receiving a short safety briefing and paddling lesson—perfect for beginners or those new to kayaking. Once you're comfortable, you'll set off along the coast in a westerly direction, leaving the busy shoreline behind. You'll soon come across Duoglio and Santa Croce beaches before approaching the "Arc of Lovers," a natural rock formation shaped by centuries of sea erosion. From the water, you'll get a unique perspective of these coastal features, along with the watchtowers that line the cliffs above.

Continuing west, you'll paddle past the fishing village of Conca dei Marini, where colorful buildings cling vertically to the hillside, as well as luxury hotels and elegant villas tucked into the cliffs (including one once owned by Sophia Loren), and the former Santa Rosa Monastery, birthplace of the region's famous shell-shaped sfogliatella pastry.

As the coastline opens up, you'll take in sweeping views toward Furore and Praiano, with glimpses of the Li Galli islets and Capri on the horizon. Then, within a quieter stretch of coast, you'll reach the Runghetiello Grotto—a small sea cave known for its natural "frescoes" of red and green mineral deposits. Throughout your paddling adventure, your guide will lead you to beaches best accessed by sea for swimming and snorkeling opportunities, as well as pausing long enough to enjoy a reviving snack of fresh fruit.
