What you'll do

After meeting your guide at your Florence hotel, you'll set out to greet the atmospheric streets of the city's historic center (the route and order of stops are dependent on your hotel's location).

As you explore, you'll gain a deeper understanding of why Florence is considered the cradle of the Renaissance. Stop at the Piazza del Duomo, home to a host of the city's most celebrated monuments designed in the iconic green, white, and red polychrome marble. Admire the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore (the Duomo), crowned by Brunelleschi's iconic red-tiled dome, and hear the story behind its groundbreaking design.

Continue through the medieval quarter, where narrow, winding lanes open into lively squares, pausing to visit landmarks like the Church of Orsanmichele, ornamented with bronze and marble sculptures of the patron saints of Florence's major guilds, and Piazza della Signoria, where a replica of Michelangelo's David stands proudly outside 14th-century Palazzo Vecchio. Crossing the city's oldest bridge, Ponte Vecchio, you'll take in views of the Arno River as you amble by its famous luxury and goldsmith shops.

You'll then head to the Accademia Gallery to move through a collection spanning the 13th to the 16th centuries, discovering works by masters such as Botticelli, Ghirlandaio, and Perugino. Your guide will provide context and insight as you explore the museum's rooms, highlighting both celebrated works and lesser-known pieces, culminating in Michelangelo's David. Seeing the towering Renaissance sculpture in person offers a completely different perspective—your guide will point out the details, proportions, and techniques, highlighting why this masterpiece is exemplary.

If there's time and interest, you may have a moment to sit and enjoy a short refreshment break before saying ciao to your guide and parting ways with a deeper appreciation for Florence's artistic legacy.
