What you'll do

After meeting your driver at your hotel in Florence, you'll ride in comfort through the pretty Tuscan countryside, replete with vineyards, villas, and rolling hills, as your driver shares stories that bring the landscape to life.

Your first stop is Pisa, home to one of Italy's most recognizable landmarks: the Leaning Tower. Set within the green-lawned Piazza dei Miracoli, the tower stands beside the Pisa Cathedral, a masterpiece of Romanesque architecture. You'll have time to explore the area, snap photos, and, if you choose to pre-book tickets, climb the tower's winding staircase for panoramic views. It's here, you'll also pause to have lunch as you like, with the flexibility to choose from a leisurely sit-down meal to a quick bite before you're off to Lucca, about a 30-minute drive north.

Lucca, the "city of a hundred churches," is famed for its fully intact 16th-century walls, now converted into a pedestrian and bike-friendly promenade. With your free time, wander its cobblestone streets and lively piazzas, such as Piazza dell'Anfiteatro, built on the remains of a Roman amphitheater; visit the Romanesque Cathedral of San Martino with its intricate (and asymmetrical) facade; or climb one of the town's towers for those 360-degree views. We recommend renting a bike to pedal the 2.5 miles (4 km) of the tree-lined city walls for a top-down look at the historic town.

At the end of the day, you'll find your driver for the return trip to Florence. Relax as you pass through Tuscany's countryside once more, reflecting on a day spent discovering notable landmarks and captivating medieval architecture.
