Kimkim team favorite · Comfort
Peaceful yoga resort with health-focused amenities, two saltwater pools, modern organic decor, and Costa Rican cuisine

Overview

Established in 2014 and freshly renovated in 2022, Bodhi Tree Yoga Resort is a serene health and wellness retreat in the lush jungle of Nosara. This modern oasis is spread over expansive grounds, with villas, two saltwater pools, an on-site spa, and a fitness center offering yoga classes. The Bodhi Restaurant & Bar serves health-focused meals and drinks, using fresh, natural ingredients to create Costa Rican specialties and international dishes.

Pros

  • Rooms have four-poster beds with Egyptian cotton bedding tucked behind mosquito netting.
  • Even when the resort is at full capacity, neither pool feels crowded.
  • The hotel provides surf instructors who can teach lessons (for a fee) at the nearby beach.
  • Health-focused activities include yoga, spin, sound baths, meditation, and high-intensity interval training (HIIT).

Cons

  • Accessibility is limited for wheelchair users or those with reduced mobility.
  • There are no in-room TVs, which might be a downside for some.

Authenticity

Bodhi Tree's location on a main road dotted with other hotels and yoga retreats creates a sense of community, but its well-kept, secluded grounds ensure a private, tranquil experience. Villas and larger buildings alike merge with the surrounding nature. The restaurant's menus offer Costa Rican specialties.

Location

The resort is a 15-minute drive from the Nosara city center and a short three-minute drive—or 10-minute walk—from local eateries like La Ventanita and El Manglar Restaurant. The resort provides a complimentary shuttle to whisk you away to the nearby beach, Playa Guiones, where you can soak up Pacific Ocean views.

Rooms & Bathrooms

Bodhi Tree Yoga Resort's rooms evoke a spa-like ambience with organic materials like wood and cotton. Each room is thoughtfully furnished with comfortable beds, rainfall showers, organic toiletries, coffee makers, and private patios. While there are no TVs, this allows you to truly connect with nature. Depending on your travel needs, you can choose from various accommodations—from the expansive Bodhi House with its two king bedrooms, outdoor lounge, wet bar, and private pool to the cozy King Bungalow with its open-concept design. Tree Tops Rooms in the Tree Tops building offer a different stay experience, complete with shared balconies overlooking the jungle and the building's pool.

Wildlife

Colorful exotic birds, iguanas, and several monkey species are regularly seen on the resort's grounds. Previous travelers report spotting monkeys jumping from roof to roof.

Amenities

The resort features two pools—one large saltwater pool with an infinity edge and a smaller, more secluded saltwater pool for guests staying in the Tree Tops building. You can also enjoy a range of body treatments at the on-site spa or break a sweat in the gym. The resort offers a range of wellness and fitness activities, such as yoga, spin classes, sound baths, stretch sequences, meditations, and high-intensity interval training (HIIT). Surf lessons at the nearby beach, Playa Guiones, are also available for adventure seekers. The hotel offers shuttles within (and outside) of the property to help travelers move to and from the different areas.

Family-Friendliness

Bodhi Tree is family-friendly, and children under four can stay for free. The resort offers a number of wellness and health activities suitable for children, and the hotel's restaurant has a kids' menu that includes options like macaroni and cheese and chicken fingers. The hotel caters more to adults than children, so there are usually not many children on the premises. In addition, the hotel's grounds vary in elevation and contain a lot of steps, so travelers with strollers may face difficulty navigating the grounds.

Other Highlights

With terrace seating, the on-site Bodhi Restaurant & Bar uses natural and fresh ingredients to create healthy Costa Rican and international specialties. The restaurant features a breakfast buffet, a la carte lunches, and a buffet and a la carte dinner. A full bar serves cocktails, organic wines, and artisanal beers. The resort also features a juice bar that travelers can visit for fresh juices, all-natural smoothies, and healthy snacks.
