Hotel Boutique Ses Pitreras, Ibiza

Kimkim team favorite · Comfort
Modern hotel in a historic building offering an outdoor pool and rooms with rooftop terraces

Overview

Hotel Boutique Ses Pitreras is hidden away in the Sant Josep area, near a busy street and about 15 minutes from Sant Antoni de Portmany. However, guests can easily use the hotel as a hub for exploring the area, as the property is next to the main roadway that leads to some of the island's best beaches. Enjoy dark, moody decor by a well-known Catalan designer, swim in the outdoor pool, relax in the spa, and have meals poolside on the sundeck. Many rooms offer pool views or rooftop terraces with private hot tubs.

Pros
  • The hotel has only seven rooms, so the property remains relatively quiet.
  • Many rooms overlook the property's outdoor pool, and two feature a private rooftop terrace with a personal hot tub.
  • The outdoor garden space is a surprise compared to the hotel's generic neighborhood, and guests can enjoy its leafy plants, palms, and cacti, plus an outdoor pool and sundeck.
  • Enjoy meals at the on-site restaurant, which specializes in traditional Spanish cuisine and serves tapas, authentic entrees, and desserts, plus local wine and unique cocktails.
  • Relax at the pool with its hot tub, or hang out in the spa with an impressive water circuit (including a Turkish bath), a sauna, a massage menu, and a gym.
Cons
  • The location isn't great, as the neighborhood doesn't feel very authentic or welcoming, though the hotel is in a decent spot if guests want to explore the island all day and just use the property for rest.
  • The design might not work for everyone, as it's quite dark and modern.

Additional Notes From Ash

I almost crossed this hotel off the list before visiting it, as the location seemed unappealing. I'm glad I went, though, because the property embodies the cliche "hidden gem." You wouldn't guess that behind the gate was a historic home with a secret garden creating such a relaxing environment that I quickly forgot all about the not-so-attractive neighborhood. Personally, I loved the design-heavy focus, though I know its dark colors and moody decor might not appeal to everyone.

Authenticity

The hotel owners saved this 1970s building from demolition, preserving its structure and the bohemian essence that Ibiza embodies. The famous Catalan designer Joan Lao carefully planned the architecture and interior design to uphold the island's past, using decor that will bring you right back to the 70s but with a modern twist.

Location

The location is off a fairly busy street near a grocery store, so it's not the best ambiance overall. As a trade-off, you'll be between Sant Antoni de Portmany and two of Ibiza's best swimming spots, Cala Comte and Sa Figuera Borda. Either destination is under 15 minutes by car, plus you can quickly get on one of the island's main routes and reach Cala d'Hort in 25 minutes and the historic center of Ibiza Town in 30.

Rooms & Bathrooms

There are only seven rooms at Ses Pitreras, so you'll get a surprisingly quiet stay for being on a busy road in buzzy Ibiza. All have a minimalist, modern, and moody vibe, with dark stone walls unique to the island's heritage. A few rooms offer soaking tubs, while two have outdoor rooftop terraces with Jacuzzis and views stretching out to the coast. The family suite sleeps four guests with one king bed and two singles.

Other Highlights

Though the surrounding streets and neighborhood leave much to be desired, the hotel's backyard garden is an actual oasis filled with palm trees, yuccas, cacti, and bougainvillea. All this unexpected greenery surrounds an outdoor pool with a wooden sundeck and restaurant. You can enjoy breakfast in your room, at the restaurant, or on the terrace surrounding the pool, where you can also have dinner by candlelight. You can relax at the spa with its water circuit, sauna, and treatment menu.
