Hotel The Serras
"A five-star luxury option across the street from the marina and waterfront promenade."
Overview
Serras Barcelona is right on Passeig de Colom, running parallel to the waterfront, port, and marina. This is definitely where the action is, though you can also explore the quiet and narrow streets of the Gothic Quarter. Rooms offer historical elements and designs that reflect the city's industrial past, and the onsite restaurant features a Michelin chef. Relax on the rooftop terrace with dining and an outdoor pool.
Pros
Pros
- Explore the Gothic Quarter, El Born, and Barceloneta with this ideal location on Passeig de Colom, right across the street from the marina and promenade.
- The onsite restaurant features a Michelin-star chef, plus seating in the grand dining room or rooftop.
- The rooftop plunge pool and sun deck have views overlooking the marina and sea, which is definitely a unique perk, as most rooftops don't have sea views.
- Housed in a renovated 19th-century building, the hotel offers history and elegance, with its interiors all designed locally using specific elements to pay homage to the city's past.
- For exercise, enjoy the 24-hour fitness center or ask the hotel for curated jogging routes along the waterfront.
- Though the location might be ideal for some, and the rooms still quiet, the hotel is on a busy thoroughfare and not a quaint Gothic Quarter street.
Kimkim's Take

Somehow, this hotel feels both luxurious and homey at the same time. The designer did a great job mixing elegance and coziness, which kinda fits the location perfectly since it straddles the old Gothic Quarter and modern marina. I honestly liked every corner of this hotel, but the rooftop is what sold me. The views are unbeatable, and the vibe is perfect for embracing that cultural siesta time.
Authenticity
Serras Barcelona perfectly combines history and five-star elegance. The 19th-century building was once home to young Pablo Picasso's art studio when he was just 15 years old. The renovated space features iron, wood, and tile motifs to pay homage to Barcelona's industrial past, and you'll notice many natural elements to keep the hotel bright and airy.Location
If you want to feel the buzz of Barcelona the moment you leave the hotel, this is the location for you. You'll be directly on the Passeig de Colom and waterfront promenade and sandwiched between two historic streets in the Gothic Quarter. You can easily stroll through the narrow lanes lined with shops and apartments, leading you to sites like Plaça de Sant Jaume, Barcelona Cathedral, and La Rambla.Rooms & Bathrooms
Like the hotel's common spaces, local designers also crafted the rooms. Enjoy the elegance with unique art, pops of color, wooden flooring, floor-to-ceiling windows, spacious quarters, and bright, modern bathrooms. Upgrade to a suite for sea views, in-room soaking tubs, and/or seating areas.Other Highlights
The hotel's restaurant is a big draw, as Michelin-star Chef Marc Gascons crafted its refined and unique menu. You can enjoy your meal in the restaurant's elegant dining room, ironically named Informal, or take it upstairs to the rooftop with city and sea views. You'll also find a cozy bar on the mezzanine level and an outdoor pool and sundeck on the top floor.Traveler Reviews
