Los Altos de Eros Boutique Hotel & Spa, Tamarindo
Adult-only boutique hotel offering an infinity pool, excellent spa, restaurant, and ocean views.
Overview
Kimkim's Take
- The hotel is an adult-only property, which could certainly be a pro if you're looking for a bit of peace and quiet.
- Enjoy being immersed in nature and with amazing views stretching along the Pacific coastline—an ideal location for sunset.
- To truly relax, enjoy a treatment at the open-air spa, which offers a unique experience of massages and other therapies within the jungle.
- If you opt to stay in one of the suites, the room rate includes a complimentary shuttle service that takes you to the beach.
- Guests can swim at the infinity pool, relax on the sun terrace, attend a cooking class, enjoy some yoga, and rest or read on the massive hammock.
- This isn't a waterfront hotel, and there's no direct beach access from the property.
- If you want to explore the area or try other offsite restaurants, it's about a 20-minute drive to the beach and roughly 30 minutes to downtown Tamarindo.
- The intimate property has a very communal feel, which may not be ideal for travelers who prefer a more private stay.
Additional Notes From Brittany
I wasn't sure what to think about a Tamarindo hotel that's pretty far from the beach, but this is a peaceful retreat with the most spectacular views of the Pacific coast. It's the perfect place to enjoy the sunset from the hotel's infinity pool, giant hammock, the Eros suite, or Balinese soaking tub. The spa is impressive, with treatments available in an idyllic, open-air setting with wooden floors and ceilings. The views, the breeze, and the calmness of this mountain-meets-jungle location are entirely worth the distance from the beach, in my opinion.Authenticity
Arriving at the property, guests can feel instantly welcomed as the hotel looks like a small house. Take advantage of the location, a quiet escape with exceptional views of the Pacific and sunset. If you don't mind being away from the beach, it's an idyllic setting with an authentic feel, perfect for a couple of nights.Location
Enjoy a hilly location away from the busyness of Tamarindo—the tradeoff being the view and quiet retreat. Expect a 30-minute drive to Tamarindo, though other beaches are just 20 minutes away. You don't necessarily need a car, as the hotel provides a shuttle service, which is complimentary to those staying in the suites.Rooms & Bathrooms
This small, cozy property offers six rooms, all with just one bed, but four of the units connect (suitable for groups). The other two options are suites with king beds, one detached and the other (the Eros Suite) sitting above the hotel's lobby area. All units feature warm, bright, and airy spaces with air-conditioning, minifridges, and organic toiletries made in Costa Rica. Remember that this is an adults-only hotel, though there's always the option to rent out the entire property—and in that case, kids are welcome.
Wildlife
Spanning 22 acres of land set atop a small mountain, the hotel's property is surrounded by tropical foliage that leads down to the ocean. Travelers have spotted macaws, toucans, howler monkeys, iguanas, and more. The patios and terraces that come with each room are some of the best spots to have a chance at spotting wildlife, as they point downhill toward the ocean and have expansive views of the jungle.
Amenities
For such a small property, the hotel punches above its weight when it comes to amenities. The hotel offers a very nice spa package, including eight private treatment rooms, a hydrotherapy tub, and an infrared sauna. The central terrace has excellent views downhill of the coastline and also hosts the hotel's infinity pool. Get your workout in at the outdoor fitness center, equipped with both cardio and weight machines. For travelers with limited mobility, the Pool Side King and Queen Suites are accessible, including lowered desks and roll-in showers.
Family-Friendliness
The hotel is adult-only and generally not suitable for families, with one exception for groups that want to rent out the entire six-room property.
Other Highlights
The property has several unique perks, like a yoga studio in its fitness center and a giant stationary hammock that can fit multiple people. If you'd like to dine on-site, the kitchen features cooking classes and can prepare special dishes for those with dietary needs. Breakfast is complimentary, and both lunch and dinner are available as three-course meals.Like what you see?
