Lovely hotel, great restaurant, friendly staff and they were very accommodating with our request for a late check out. It's up in the mountains so quite cool and the pool is unheated, plus we couldn't find anything to do within walking distance. This was supposed to be our pre-travel pool day so we altered our plans and went into San Jose instead. Entirely our fault as we asked to stay here but with hindsight, we'd have been better staying closer to San Jose or the airport

Great food, lovely rooms and pool area, incredible gardens. If you want to spot a tree frog, this is the place to go! Loved the hot tubs as I could relax in there while the kids played in the pool.

Beautiful gardens. Loved seeing all the hummingbirds from the bar. Bungalows were clean and comfortable. The steak was incredible but the rest of the menu not so impressive.

Beautifully designed, clean and comfortable. Lovely spot, very near the beach where you can hire loungers, get a massage etc. Cosy little private pool area where I wiled away a morning reading in the hammock and watching the capuchins eating mangos in the tree above. Note that breakfast is not included (we thought it was), but there is a supermarket nearby and the kitchen is fine but fairly basic.

We only stayed here for one night, on arrival in Costa Rica so we were somewhat jet lagged. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and the breakfast buffet was incredible!

Incredible zip lining over the forest canopy. The day started well but the rain set in half way around the course, followed by nearby lightning. We were separated from the rest of the group as we'd gone first and had to evacuate the course though the forest. The guides were very professional and we felt safe thoughout. They took great care of us and even lent their waterproofs to the kids (we were completely unprepared for a jungle trek in the rain!). I thought the kids (7 & 9) would have been frightened but they loved the adventure of it and it ended up being one of the highlights of the whole holiday!

Great experience, though we didn't spot quite as much wildlife as we'd hoped. The 'real' hot chocolate at the end was delicious!

Daniella worked very hard to spot all sorts of interesting creatures for us - we even saw some surprisingly active sloths in the trees.

Franklin was awesome and extremely knowledgable. I wish he'd come on all our trips as I felt like there was so much we were missing through lack of knowledge! The hot springs were amazing. Really clean and well designed. Start at the cooler end and enjoy a cocktail.

A great opportunity to see lots of the wildlife in captivity that we'd be seeing in the wild later on. All seemed ethical (rescue animals etc) and well kept.

This might be the BEST excursion of all during our trip to Costa Rica! Gabriel was so much fun and so skilled at whitewater rafting that we immensely enjoyed our exciting, thrilling trip down the river and none of us fell out of the raft! John was our driver from the hotel to the meeting place on the river as well as taking us to our hotel after the whitewater rafting. He shared with us so much history and insights about Costa Rica that made it interesting and informative plus he was also friendly and fun.

By far the fanciest place we've ever stayed. It's absolutely stunning with meticulously maintained and lighted pathways through the jungle - we saw staff working on them multiple times a day. The rooms are large and have everything you would need and our large porch overlooking the jungle & ocean with a hammock and lounge chairs was as good as it gets. I can't think of a single problem; it was a joy just to hang out here and watch all the monkeys and birds. The food maybe wasn't the best, but it was tasty and good enough for sure. It veered closer to resort territory than I'm used to and I definitely felt "catered to" - I do speak Spanish but folks here tended to reply in English, and there were a lot of menu items clearly for tourists. That's not necessarily a bad thing but it's not my comfort zone and I felt it was a little harder to connect with people.

Beautiful cabins. They have everything you could want inside and porches too. The pines are lovely. We visited the herb garden and saw lots of animals. No complaints whatsoever, and it was a lot easier to manage young kids in a place like this where you knew they wouldn't bother anyone if they were noisy.

Red Frog was amazing. The owners are lovely people, the rooms were spacious and comfortable, and the open-air living/dining/kitchen areas was an unexpected bonus. Their food was the best of our trip. They were nice to our kids (3 and 8) let us pet their cute dogs. What more could you want? The air conditioner didn't really work but we found we didn't need it; the fans were enough.

It was a beautiful nighttime walk. The guide found us sloths, lizards, frogs, birds, and many insects, and there was some tasty fruit at the end. We got the sense that maybe he was a little tired of this night-time job, or maybe just tired of tourists, and I don't blame him for either, but the mood was a bit muted.

We had a great paddle (about half an hour or so each way) to a beautiful empty beach with a little waterfall. The guides were warm, friendly guys who brought fruit to snack on and were kind to the kids. Great experience.

Nobody has ever been more passionate about bats and it was contagious. Great tour, tons of info. It was too slow paced for our kids (and maybe even too slow paced for the adults, to be perfectly honest) but I can't fault him for enthusiasm and I certainly learned a lot. Seeing the bats was pretty fun, although I was really hoping to use the advertised device that lets you listen to bat ultrasonic communication in an audible frequency and it wasn't available.

This tour was even better than I had hoped. It was perfectly paced which was really helpful with young kids. We got to look at the cacao trees and learn about them a bit, taste some cacao fruit pulp, and then follow the cacao beans through the fermentation, drying, roasting, threshing, and grinding process. We (well, the kids especially) were able to participate in several of these steps and we all got to eat plenty of fresh chocolate with various toppings at the end. The perfect mix of education, participation and enjoyment.

These guys were absolutely fantastic. They were super sweet with our 3yo and 8yo (who had to ride with a guide each), showed us some great birds and animals, and were generally just great folks to chat with and learn from. We could have kept going all day. Everybody LOVED ziplining.

Overall. i think, objectively it is way too hyped. I would probably pick another hotel in the area to stay at if we come back again. PROS Property that we saw was quite beautiful Reception desk and staff are very friendly and helpful Food at the main restaurant for lunch was pretty good Bathroom in the room was well stocked and nice CONS - Wifi is SUPER SUPER poor. Measured it and for the rooms of 500-525 I was seeing at MOST 1-2 mb/sec. That's atrocious. You would think that they would setup wifi extenders at each building to boost their wifi signal but nope. i tested the wifi speed and uploaded the results to show for proof. The wifi at the resort in La Fortuna where we stayed before coming here was 45 mb/sec... more than enough for video calls and it was that speed throughout the ENTIRE property. - Fridge didn't work to keep things cool - The vents above the patio doors could not be closed so we had constant cool air coming in - Roach found - Property is huge and the roadway between sections is VERY poorly lit. It's VERY dark. - Main desk closes at 10p. Seriously???? - TV signal and TV picture for most channels was not even HD - The bathroom sinks are REALLY shallow. Because of this the water drains very very slowly because there's not a high degree of slope and it's very frustrating

This resort is THE place to stay if you can fit it into your budget. AMAZING place PROS - BEAUTIFUL resort - Customer Service was absolutely amazing and the BEST. They took care of you from the moment you arrived to when you left - The food options and service at the pool was fantastic - The rooms are BEAUTIFULLY stocked when you check in - It is very easy to get around the resort - The staff is fantastic and they are very efficient in their work - The WIFI is absolutely insane. We tested it at various points in the resort and it averaged over 45 mb/sec which is MORE than enough for great video conferencing even - The restaurants and morning buffet is fantastic CONS - NONE We would come back here and stay in a HEARTBEAT. If you have the chance and dont stay here then you will be making a HUGE mistake

PROS - great location in central downtown San Jose - Customer service and staff were great and very helpful - The room was well stocked and prepped - Breakfast buffet was very good and enjoyable - The 5th floor and view from the top floor is really nice and wonderful CONS None

First class all the way. Loved the modern feel of the rooms, the hot springs were the best, and the restaurants simply delicious! Small and inviting, you feel like you’re in your own corner of the jungle.

The property is so vast - as are the rooms, which is a good thing, and buildings, but very dim and dark. The staff was wonderful. Gorgeous views!!

Very nice hotel with excellent service and friendly front desk staff especially Marcella.

Top of the world location, views were breathtaking. Restaurant food was excellent. My only note would be to mention in your site that there are no elevators. We had to carry bags up three flights of stairs.

The Hotel Bosque Del Mar in Playa Hermosa was our last stop on our honeymoon. Nestled in trees, right on the beach, it was the perfect last stop for us for some relaxation we needed from all the activities we did prior during our honeymoon. We stayed in our water front room, which was worth the splurge. The staff was very accommodating, helping us book additional activities they offered as well as any questions we had during our stay. We would highly recommend a stay here if you are in the area or looking for a nice beach to relax on.

Book the waterfront room and Palo Verde Boat tour through the hotel, it was an amazing experience!

This tour was so much fun! Food and drinks are included and they take you to a great spot to snorkel and see some of the beautiful fish! We even met another couple who were married on the same day as us and were also on their honeymoon. Overall a great experience and we would highly recommend taking this tour!

The kilometer long zip line at the end was such a rush! The hanging bridges were so cool to walk on and you got the best sights of the cloud forest. This was the only hike that was not guided and we did on our own.

The best hike on our trip. The views of the volcano are amazing. Our private guided hike included lunch as well and our guide was awesome. Very knowledgeable about the hike, the volcano, and all the animals you could see during the hike.

We had a private guided hike in the national park and to the Oropendula waterfall. Our guide was amazing, and he could easily spot animals and plants we would have never noticed if we just hiked it ourselves.

What can I say? Stayed here one night, our last, before flying out. It was your standard business hotel. No frills, no character, just a nice clean place.

We LOVED this hotel! The room was large with 2 beds, had a fantastic view of Manuel Antonio beach from our private deck, and the grounds are beautiful and made for some excellent short hikes around the property and down to the beach. Will def try and stay in this hotel on our next visit!

The room itself was nice & large with a private patio for viewing the scenery. We saw several species of animals on the property including the cute Coalti and not so cute "Raton Grande", as wll as many types of birds. The restaurant/office/bar area were nearby so making it for breakfast was a snap. The staff were very kind and helpful. We found it odd that barely anyone used the on-site restaurant & bar as we were usually the only ones in there when dining. Perhaps more people go into town for these features? Interesting note: Because of the type of santitation used in the area, when in the bathrooms after wiping, the toilet paper is NOT to be flushed but rather thrown into the trashcan. This was strange for us.

Love, love, LOVE this place! We had the coolest and roomiest bungalo with a private patio and impressive view of the volcano from our huge floor to ceiling windows. The restaurant was a short 3-minute walk down the road for breakfast every morning and dinner every night. They will send a cab to your bungalo for free in minutes to take you anywhere on the property, which we did for the Hot Springs on the property as well as trips to the Reception to meet our Tour excursions.

Def bring your swimsuit, camera & binos. Hike the property grounds and look for wildlife everywhere. The sun & birds woke us up every morning around 5AM....and we dug that! Speaking Spanish is a definite help, but not needed, as most everyone can speak Spanish and English quite well. Spanglish is totally acceptable manner in which to communicate.

It would not have been possible for me to accurately imagine how much of dream this room would be. We were in 4B, and our view of the Manuel Antonio beach area was utterly beyond belief. There's is certainly too much to describe here, but I can't recommend highly enough for those staying in the Manuel Antonio area. The grounds are fun and interesting, featuring some tasty restaurants, a nice little hike, multiple lounge areas (which you will share with friendly monkeys and iguanas), and of course, easy access to a beach straight out of your most indulgent tropical fantasies. Food is great, staff is friendly and helpful, and an entire week's worth of incredible activities is just the beginning of what's available nearby. Don't wait to book!!

Book an extra beach day, and get some pizza from El Wagon! If you're looking for any guidance for local activities, Tucanes Tours are absolutely phenomenal.

Unreal. I won't waste my time trying to describe what should, without any question, be experienced in person. By the end of a two-night stay, I was compelled to begin worshipping volcanoes. One thing I will mention - do not miss the Ecotermales Fortuna hot spring. I would return for an extended stay just to go there again!

You'd better book an extra night.

This hotel was perfect for our vacation to the cloud forest. The rooms were beautiful. We enjoyed being in the rainforest so much. The service and attention to detail was amazing. The food was some of the best we had in Costa Rica. Both my husband and my teenage son made sure they had the name of this hotel written down. Both apparently plan to return here specifically! :)

Across the street from a shopping center and short walking distance to many of the local tourist attractions. Really nice restaurant on site. Beautiful angel trumpet trees on property.

I mean the bartender will bring you drinks in the pool during happy hour where you can swim to the edge and look out to the sea. The room we had offered a large tub that easily accommodated two and had a stone wall that extended to the shower area. The balcony overlooked a stretch of trees before extending out to the sea. If you are lucky, you might see monkeys around the front of the property.

Don't miss the individual hot tubs tucked behind the trees near the pool. Incredible!

What a beautiful hotel! The grounds were amazing and the view of the volcano was perfect. The staff was incredibly kind and helpful. We loved our stay and will definitely suggest Case Luna Hotel & Spa to our friends!

Marcos was our favorite tour guide on our trip. His knowledge of the area was amazing and his passion for birds fun to hear about. I wasn't a bird lover at the start of this excursion, but listening to Marcos and seeing his passion for the birds made me realize beauty I have been missing. He even suggested some additional excursions to fill our trip AND on the return home stopped at the location to make sure we got signed up. He also took a few detours on our return trip to the hotel to point out restaurant and a few other locations we had inquired about.Thank you, Marcos!

I've never experienced anything like this and it was amazing. Fun, beautiful and exhilarating.

Would have been 5 stars if the weather was better. It was a little too rainy and choppy for me and the water was dark from all the rain.

Most relaxing evening ever! And in a beautiful environment.

Our guide's knowledge was amazing. Loved listening to the sounds of the jungle and seeing some amazing animals.

We had a great time. We ended up being the only two people on the tour and enjoyed getting to know our guides and learning more about the area.

This hotel was beautiful-online photos don't do it justice. Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. The view of the volcano from our back patio couldn't be beat (room 503). The restaurant and bar had very good food and drinks. The pool area was very nice and relaxing. The covered jacuzzi was great to sit in during the evening rainstorms. The grounds were beautiful-it seemed the staff were tending to it throughout the day. The front desk staff were helpful with every question or need we had, and were very helpful in arranging transport into town. I would stay here again.

If you want to be close to "the action" of town this is not the place for you-you'd need to take a taxi.

It is unfortunate I cannot give 5 stars. The grounds are lovely with a nice pool and seating areas, and a great bar. The bar/restaurant staff were really great, and the food was excellent. The animals that came through the grounds in the afternoon were a real treat-Agouti, Iguana, and the squirrel monkeys. Most of the rooms in the back of the property seemed lovely, but we had a "front side" room. These rooms face the front of the building and the main road. The room was basic-not aesthetically pleasing or anywhere you'd want to spend any time. The lamps were broken. On our last night we came back to the room and found it flooded from a backup in the shower (we hadn't used the shower yet that day). Of course things happen sometimes, but the woman in charge did not know how to handle the situation. It took persistence on our part to get the management to set us up in another hotel for the night since they could not accommodate us with an equivalent room. They did end up moving us to another lovely hotel nearby for no charge and waived our food and beverage charges-which was nice. If we were in a better room, and had been taken care of promptly when the shower issue happened, then I would give 5 stars.

do not pick the "front side" room

Nice hike around the 1968 lava field. The hot springs were nice, but the grounds were difficult to negotiate at night. The dinner provided was really good.

Carla was a very nice naturalist guide. We were able to see several animals, and she was very informative and patient.

I can't review this tour because it was cancelled due to a lightning storm. Brittany with Kimkim handled the refund process for us with no problem.

Very clean, amazing food and beverages located in a lovely location.

The pictures were misleading about the hotel location. It is located by a main road. Units are way too small and they're not practical. the reception desk and the bar are the same. our room was lacking simple and necessary equipment, such as luggage table or closets or even a safe.

One of the most organized PADI certified crew I've ever been with. everything from their side was amazing. everything was calculated and everyone had their own cups and water bottles with names and etc. Dive instructor and crew were also super professional and helpful.

Beautiful location. No air conditioning, no TV but big overhead fans. No hairdryers and no WIFI unless you were close to the main lodge. Food served at lodge was amazing Took the AM boat tour - guide was impressive and tried to find as much wildlife as she could - including monkeys, birds, and crocodiles - trip was very pleasant. Had to travel 1&1/2 hr to get back to the lodge - on the return trip it was pouring and we had to carry our own luggage up a hill to get to where the buses were parked. Had to pay to use the bathroom at the bus location and any food and drink was a bit overpriced.

I would suggest that one night was enough to see everything

Surrounded by trees - beautiful - 4 hot tubs. Restaurant not impressive. Had fish one night and was not that good. Second night we went into town. Cute little town - could have explored more of it. We ate at Tabacon and the food was amazing. Had to take a cab to get into town from the hotel. Recommend the butterfly Took us 3 hours to hike around the volcano - my husband is 75 - not such a good knee and there was some climbing up and over large rocks. We got to the Tabacon Springs - it was dark and lighting was poor. We did not realize that we had to show our vaccine records and our health letter before they would even let us in - luckily I had brought them along

I wish I had done the waterfall walk

Most beautiful location. The view from the breakfast location was breathtaking. Monkeys in trees above. Howler monkeys could be seen and heard from our room in the early mornings, Many shops and restaurants in walking distance. Better then some Caribbean Island resorts I have stayed at.

Spanish - but many English speaking staff

Beautiful location. Surprisingly cool due to elevation - I did not try the pool. Long walks up and down hills to get to breakfast but shuttle service was great. Breakfast was great.

Seemed understaffed. Staff had trouble keeping the breakfast bar stocked. If you needed tea - good luck getting hot water. Not enough seating. Just unimpressive. No pool. We took a bus tour of the city - younger people could certainly just walk to attractions
