Overview

Discover the incredible scenery of Vikos Gorge, one of the most popular hiking destinations in Greece with this full-day guided hiking tour. The gorge sits in the Vikos-Aoos National Park and is the world's deepest canyon in proportion to its width, as set in the Guinness Book of Records. This moderate trek takes you across the gorge while surrounded by steep mountain scenery and dense forests.

You will start in the village of Monodendri, descending into the gorge toward the river. The surrounding forest is home to various trees and 1,800 plant species! Your guide will happily point out a few unique varieties. You will also learn about the gorge's rich geological history, as it splits a mountain in half, exposing limestone and dolomite more than 150 million years old.

Before ascending to the village of Vikos, you will stop at Voidomati Springs. Here you'll find Greece’s cleanest and coldest river. If you're feeling brave, take a dip in the chilly 47-degree (8.5 Celsius) water! Your hike ends in Vikos, where you will enjoy a picnic lunch featuring traditional bites and a piece of the famous local pie.
