Prado Museum & Lunch at Botín, Madrid

Overview

Combine art and history with a visit to Madrid's famed Prado Museum, followed by a traditional meal at Botín, the world’s oldest restaurant.

As you explore the Prado Museum, you'll stop to admire about 20 masterpieces that highlight Spain’s storied past. Your guide, an expert in art and history, will help you discover the characters and events that inspired these works of art. Some of the most prized pieces are those by Diego Velázquez, Francisco Goya, Titian (Tiziano Vecellio), and Peter Paul Rubens. You'll also find famous works by Rembrandt, Pieter Bruegel, Bosch, Caravaggio, El Greco, and more.

From the Prado, enjoy a stroll through the picturesque Literary Quarter, known as the stomping grounds for many of Spain’s literary greats. You’ll pop into a century-old tavern to enjoy Madrid’s most traditional aperitif before making your way to Botín for lunch. Your guide will walk you through hidden escape tunnels and history-filled dining rooms before sitting down for a three-course meal. The highlight of lunch is the roasted suckling pig, made in 300-year-old ovens, paired with market-fresh vegetables, and followed by dessert.

This is a must when you are in Madrid. Our guide was fabulous and we learned so much from her. The museum was beautiful and then we walked to a pub to have Vermouth, which was a very neat experience. We then walked to have lunch at Botin. You Cannot miss this. The oldest restaurant in the world!! The food and service was amazing. The wine cellar was so very interesting to see as well. Do Not miss this experience. Read more
