What you'll do

An electric tuk-tuk helps make your time in Madrid memorable, as you'll zip through the city faster than walking but still be able to enjoy the architecture and views around you. Your tuk-tuk tour will take you through the city, not only the main tourist sites (though many are must-sees). You'll make your way through centuries of history, learning about the city's most influential families, including the Asturias, Bourbons, and Hapsburgs. Along the way, discover how art, religion, and culture have made Madrid one of the most visited cities in the world.

Your guide has crafted the itinerary so as not to miss any of the city's iconic sites. You'll start in Plaza de Santa Ana, the heart of Madrid's Literary Quarter. You'll go through the city's historical core to the Royal Palace, where you can admire its exterior, check out the Almudena Cathedral, and enjoy views of the Sabatini Gardens. Make a quick stop at Plaza de España with its unique Egyptian Temple de Debod, then head to the lively Mercado de San Miguel.

Your driver will then take you south to the La Latina neighborhood, passing the Royal Basilica of Saint Francis the Great along the way. This charming, hip, and international district is known for its eateries, shops, and markets. Next, zip back through the historic streets and make stops at Casa de Cervantes, the childhood home of Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra, Museo Lope de Vega, the house-museum of writer Lope de Vega, and Congreso de los Diputados, the lower house of the Cortes Generales, Spain's legislative branch, all in the same area.

You'll now make your way to the beautiful Fuente de Neptuno along the Paseo del Prado. From here, you'll stop to admire the Museo del Prado and the 16th-century monastery, San Jerónimo el Real. Check out El Retiro Park and the Palacio del Retiro, then head to the Fuente de Cibeles and Banco de España building via Puerta de Alcalá. Your driver will return to your starting point at Plaza de Santa Ana.

Though you won't enter any of the sites you'll visit, you'll enjoy the views, exteriors, and facades while learning about each site's history. At the end of the two hours, you'll thoroughly understand Madrid's royal past, communist years, and present modern day.

The major theme of the tour is a route centered on the old city gates and the old city walls. It doesn't actually go into the Plazas (Mayor and Sol).

You see a lot of Madrid on it but you do lose a sense of where you are as you go up and down side streets.

There is a see through roof on the tuk-tuk which sort of separates you from the outside, forcing you to tilt your head to see the things above you.

Tuk-Tuk tour has a few stops for you to explore on foot. It stops at the Temple of Debod (old Egyptian temple), and at the old wall and new walls of Madrid.

Tips for future travelers

If you have ideas about neighborhoods you want to hang out in, you can ask your Tuk Tuk driver for recommendations for places to eat and drink so you can come back to it later. The waiting point (across the street from the Four Seasons) doesn't have any signage so it might feel awkward, but come the appointed time, all the Tuks Tuks will suddenly start arriving to pick you up.

Quality of Experience
It was fun and it does whet your appetite to see the city.

Tuk Tuk themselves are actually quite comfortable. They provide blankets if you get cold.
