Overview
Glacier View Guesthouse in Hrífunes is a warm, family-run hotel in a remote location between two glaciers. Located a 3-hour drive from Reykjavík just off the Ring Road, the hotel offers access to some of the South Coast's most interesting attractions. The waterfall of Stjórnarfoss and the hexagonal basalt slabs of Kirkjugólf, also known as the "church floor," are both just 30 minutes away by car. Reynisfjara Beach, with its black sands and volcanic pillars, believed to be the bodies of trolls, is a 50-minute drive.
This guesthouse offers 10 modern and comfortable rooms, ideal for couples, families, or larger groups. There are two Family Room options, one with bunk beds and one with two extra twin beds, which can easily sleep four. All rooms have several windows, allowing in bright natural light, and there are blackout curtains to ensure a good sleep during the season of the midnight sun. You can also grab a seat on your private patio to take in the landscape. Bathrooms have showers and include amenities like magnifying mirrors.
Besides the great views, several Kimkim travelers have highlighted the staff's hospitality and the overall warmth of the hotel. The main house has a cozy living room and dining room area, where you can enjoy a home-cooked meal and meet other travelers around a communal table.

The rooms are exceptionally well designed with an eye to color, light, views, privacy. And lots of little details like makeup mirrors. The location is near nature - when the weather is clear you can see the glacier (two views.) Lots of hiking in the area and centrally located for drives to beach, waterfalls, and canyon hikes. But the best thing about this place was the warm, gracious hosts, Elin and Born. The food was outstanding, too.
