Hoposa Costa D'Or—Adults Only, Deià
Adults-Only hotel overlooking the sea cliffs near Deià with an on-site restaurant, outdoor pool, and terrace
Overview
Kimkim's Take
- You really can't beat the location at this Hoposa property, as you'll be directly on the sea cliffs along Mallorca's famed northwestern coast.
- Getting to the charming towns of Deià and Sóller is pretty easy and no more than 20 minutes with a car or transfer.
- The hotel was once a traditional farm, so you can enjoy a few mementos of the past, including beautiful stonework.
- There's an outdoor pool with a sundeck overlooking the cliffs and sea, and the garden terrace is also a nice spot to take in the views.
- You can eat your meals on the outdoor terrace, which feels extra romantic during sunset and dinnertime.
- A path takes you down to the water where you can sunbathe and swim, though there isn't a sandy beach, just rocks along the coast.
- The rooms are comfortable, but the furnishings feel too modern or outdated for the property's setting and history.
- Overall, the hotel's interiors could you a style update, though the outdoor spaces certainly don't disappoint.
Authenticity
Hoposa's Costa D'Or hotel was once a traditional Finca (farm), originally built to blend into the surrounding cliffs and hills, hence its earthy tones and stonework. Though completely renovated, you'll still notice elements of a traditional Mallorcan farm, including exposed ceiling beams and stone walls. The property sits in several buildings atop Llucalcari Hill and offers unbeatable sea views.Location
You'll be right on the scenic stretch of road that hugs the coast between Deià and Sóller, right atop the cliffs above Canyaret Beach. A few coves and swimming spots are just down the street, including Cala Tomas and Cala Deià. Plus, the charming hillside town of Deià is a quick 10-minute drive, and the Port of Sóller is just 20 minutes. As for getting to Palma or the airport, plan for a little less than one hour.Rooms & Bathrooms
Rooms are spacious, bright, and airy with a modern design and conveniences, like air conditioning, minifridges, and coffee makers. It feels like the hotel missed an opportunity to have antique furnishings or comfy quarters that fit the location and the property's history. Instead, the furniture and bedding are a bit basic. If you'd like sea views from your room, book one of those specific units, or go for the superior room with its large outdoor terrace or the suite with its wall of windows.Other Highlights
The outdoor pool and sundeck are perfect for relaxing and enjoying the location, as you'll have incredible cliffs and sea views. There's also a gym, library lounge, indoor bar, and garden terrace with seating. For meals, head to the on-site restaurant, which offers the option to dine on the patio.Like what you see?
