Las Gaviotas Suites Hotel, Mallorca

Pros

• You'll be just a few blocks from the area's famous beach, a nearly endless stretch of sand and warm water. 
• The buffet restaurant provides an impressive spread and is very popular. For dinner, there are multiple salad options, several main courses, lots of side dishes, and an entire counter filled with desserts.
• Relax at the three outdoor pools, one not quite the size of an Olympic pool but made for swimming laps. The others feature hydromassage, and the main pool is curvy and lined with sun loungers.
• Besides the main restaurant, there's also a poolside bistro with light meals, snacks, and drinks. 
• The spa is complimentary for guests and open all day, featuring a sauna, steam room, massage treatments (for an additional fee), and a soaking tub. 

Cons

• The hotel connects two different buildings, making it a little obvious that some areas seem more updated than others. 
• The rooms are big, but without many furnishings, so they seem a bit sparse. 

Authenticity

This hotel is fairly average overall, not providing too much authenticity, but it doesn't completely ignore it. In most rooms (besides the standard suites), you'll find a bohemian vibe in the decor. The restaurant also features local dishes and produce from the property's own garden. And because the area is famous for cycling, you can use the hotel's cycling center and bike rentals.

Location

Though not a beachfront property, Las Gaviotas is set on the main road stretching between the Port de Alcúdia and Can Picafort. You'll be within walking distance of numerous bars, shops, and eateries, plus less than two blocks from the sandy beach. And this location puts you at a convenient spot for exploring the area, as you can get onto the highway in just two minutes and reach places like the historic Alcúdia town in 10 minutes or hiking near the Port de Pollença in 25 minutes. 

Rooms & Bathrooms

From premium rooms to premium suites, all units at Las Gaviotas have a comfy, natural aesthetic with wooden elements, authentic textiles, and large bathrooms with Ritual products. Suites ironically feel the least authentic and a bit more modern with simple furnishing and decor, but the premium suites offer more space and maintain that genuine Mallorcan vibe. All have furnished balconies, air conditioning, and mini-fridges.

The hotel's restaurant is a big highlight, serving breakfast and dinner buffet-style. But this isn't your typical buffet; the selection here is high-quality and nearly endless, ranging from traditional Spanish and Mediterranean dishes to international bites like pasta and sushi. For lunch, you can relax at the poolside bar. You'll find three outdoor pools, one for swimming laps and another stretching along the property's side with plenty of space and comfy sun loungers. There's also a spa, gym, and cycling center, all complimentary for guests.
