Overview
Kimkim's Take

- The Old Town location puts you within easy strolling distance of historic Lagos landmarks and several sandy beaches.
- Rooms are beautifully decorated, with velvet Art Deco-style headboards, herringbone parquet floors, and marble bathrooms (upgrade to a Boutique unit for a furnished balcony).
- The rooftop terrace features a tiled infinity pool, comfy sun loungers, and Old Town views.
- An a la carte breakfast is included in the room rate, and you can dine on creative Portuguese cuisine or sip custom cocktails in the stylish on-site restaurant and bar.
- Service is excellent, with a warm, knowledgeable staff.
- This is an adults-only property, and only children 14 and up are permitted.
Authenticity
Opened in May 2025, MN56 is named for its address on the Rua Marreiros Netto, where you'll find this stately 18th-century townhouse with a classic coral facade. A modern third floor now crowns the historic building, and original stone walls peek through portions of the designer interiors. Despite the modernity, the overall effect feels firmly tied to its Algarve surroundings—splashes of teal, saffron, and coral echo the neighboring Old Town architecture, and sculptural light installations carved into sea green ceilings evoke the coastal waters. The friendly staff are also a standout detail here—whether greeting you with a welcome drink and a quick tour or sharing their local tips and favorite haunts via WhatsApp.
Location
The hotel sits among the cobbled alleys and plazas of Lagos' historic Old Town, a few blocks from the central Praça Luís de Camões. You can stroll to landmarks like the Castelo de Lagos and Forte Ponta da Bandeira or reach the Praia da Batata (the city's main sandy beach) in under 10 minutes. Farther west, take your pick of countless beaches within a 15-minute drive. Transport links are also convenient: it's a 20-minute walk or 10-minute drive to the train station, and Faro International Airport is an hour's drive east along the coast. Paid private parking is available nearby.
Rooms & Bathrooms
The hotel's 22 rooms are just as stylish as the common areas, with herringbone parquet floors, curved Art Deco-style velvet headboards, and thoughtful mod cons like bedside USB ports, blackout curtains, and Nespresso machines. The smallest Standard options are quite compact; Roomy units feel more spacious and sunny, while Boutique rooms add small furnished balconies. The good-sized marble bathrooms are beautifully lit, with matte black fittings, large walk-in rain showers, Molton Brown toiletries, and fluffy robes. Accessible rooms are available upon request.
Amenities
The petite rooftop offers a sunny respite from the city, with views over the Old Town and a small infinity pool lined with glossy green tiles and surrounded by loungers (complete with matching green-striped beach towels). Downstairs, the Cinquo restaurant serves modern Portuguese dishes in a dark teal dining area dotted with marble-topped tables, tufted velvet banquettes, and fringed lamps. The adjoining Lobby Bar is the spot for breakfast (a la carte and included in the room rate); after dark, sample its excellent selection of Portuguese wines and a creative cocktail menu.
Family-Friendliness
This is an adults-only property, and children under 14 aren't accommodated. It won't be a great fit even for families with teens—all units sleep a maximum of two people, and there are no rollaway beds or adjoining rooms.
