Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Keflavík, Transfer to The Retreat at Blue Lagoon

Welcome to Iceland – A Journey Through Fire & Ice
Soak away any stresses in a private geothermal pool (photo courtesy of The Retreat at Blue Lagoon Iceland)

Velkominn til íslands (welcome to Iceland)! Known for its myriad geological wonders encompassing icy glaciers, steaming geysers, and towering volcanoes, the "Land of Fire and Ice" is home to some of Europe's most dramatic and diverse landscapes. Upon arrival at the Keflavík airport, your driver will be waiting to take you on the 20-minute transfer to your accommodation: The Retreat at Iceland's famous Blue Lagoon Spa

Check into one of The Retreat's 60 elegant suites, all carved directly into lava rock, with an aesthetic that blends warmth and minimalism with luxury linens and bespoke Italian furniture. All rooms feature heated floors, sumptuous bathrooms filled with the spa's award-winning skin care products, and unlimited access to The Retreat and spa. Opt for one of the two lagoon suites for floor-to-ceiling views and a private spa pool.

The rest of the day is yours to relax and rejuvenate in your stylish surroundings. Soak in the mineral-rich geothermal seawater pools, then unwind with one of the spa's bespoke massages or treatments. In the evening, you've several on-site restaurants to choose from, including the acclaimed Michelin-starred Moss Restaurant

Day 2: Reykjavík Guided Tour, Dinner at Lava Restaurant

Hallgrimskirkja
Tour the country's pint-size capital and see landmarks, including the modernist Hallgrímskirkja church

Spend today on a private tour of Reykjavík, the country's petite capital that combines a thriving arts and culture scene with first-class fine dining and incredible architecture. You'll start with the towering 244-foot (74 m) Hallgrímskirkja church, whose modernist silhouette was designed to echo the country's basalt lava flows and enjoy the sweeping views across Reykjavík from the top of the church tower.

Next is a deep dive into Iceland's culture and history. With over 60 museums and galleries to explore, your guide will choose the location based on your preferences. Top options include the National Museum, the Settlement Exhibition (focusing on the settlement of Reykjavík), the Maritime Museum, the Northern Lights Center, the Saga Museum, and the Whales of Iceland Exhibition.

After lunch, your tour continues with a trip to the waterfront, where you'll find the impressive Sun Voyager dreamboat sculpture and the award-winning shimmering architecture of the Harpa Concert Hall. Afterward, you'll return to the Blue Lagoon, where you've time for a relaxing sauna or Jacuzzi before dining on the tasting menu at the Lagoon's Lava Restaurant, whose rocky interior is built directly into an 800-year-old lava cave on the spa's west bank. Enjoy thoughtfully prepared plates showcasing Iceland's fresh produce and culinary traditions while gazing at the volcanic landscape.

Day 3: Tour the Golden Circle, Snowmobile Experience (Optional)

Visit the 5,000-year-old Gullfoss waterfall, Iceland's best-known cascade that plunges 105 feet (31 m)

Spend today discovering landscapes dotted with hot springs and woven with dramatic cliffs and waterfalls on a private tour of Iceland's famous Golden Circle. Your first stop is Þingvellir National Park, geologically and historically significant thanks to its tectonic plates that straddle Europe and North America. It's also home to the ancient Law Rock, the birthplace of Althing, the world's first parliament. Stroll the shores of Þingvallavatan, Iceland's largest lake, while keeping your eyes peeled for the park's wildlife, including arctic foxes and reindeer.

Your next stop is two of the area's acclaimed waterfalls, the icy blue cascades of Brúarárfoss and the mighty Gullfoss. Then it's off to the regularly erupting Strokkur Geyser, which can reach heights of up to 131 feet (40 m). Finally, you'll see the 3,000-year-old Kerið crater—a 180-foot (55 m) deep volcanic crater filled with water, creating a turquoise lake whose steep circular slopes resemble an ancient amphitheater.

Afterward, you have a couple of options. Head back with your driver to the Blue Lagoon and make the most of your last day at the spa's award-winning facilities, or head out for a thrilling private snowmobile experience. You have two glaciers to choose from, the tongue-twisting Eyjafjallajökull or Mýrdalsjökull. Both offer vast expanses of snow and ice with incredible sweeping views across the glittering landscape.

Day 4: Transfer to Eldar Lodge, Highlands & Glacier Lagoon Helicopter Excursion

Eldar Lodge Experience

If it's proving tough to leave behind the luxurious setting of the Blue Lagoon, fear not, as your next accommodation is a remote private retreat and one of the finest private properties in Iceland—Eldar Lodge. Meet your driver for the 1.5-hour transfer to Bláskógabyggð, and you'll find the lodge in a remote estate surrounded by serene woodlands, with a gorgeous outdoor volcanic hot tub. Whether you're traveling as a group or as a couple, the house's six bedrooms are exclusively yours, and what's more, you have a private award-winning chef on hand, ready to create whatever you wish.

While you may be tempted to settle in and spend the rest of the afternoon relaxing in the property's understated luxury, you have a treat in store. You'll spend the next hour or two on board a private helicopter (yes, you have your own helipad), where you'll embark on a memorable journey witnessing the highlights of the Golden Circle and icy glacier peaks from a perspective few others witness. In the evening, feast on a dinner curated by your chef, book a massage from the Lodge's concierge service, or relax in the hot tub and wait for the dancing lights of the aurora borealis.

Day 5: Helicopter Excursion to Snæfellsnes Peninsula & Westfjords

See the unmissable peak of Kirkjufell from up high

With a private helicopter and pilot at your disposal, you can take day trips to Iceland's remote areas and still be back in time to relax and make the most of your enchanting surroundings. Today, you're off for a helicopter excursion of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. Fly west to the peninsula, often dubbed "Iceland in miniature," and you'll get a bird's-eye view of the Snæfellsjökull glacier volcano, which inspired Jules Verne's "Journey to the Center of the Earth." Look out for the towering coastal cliffs that house nestling bird colonies, charming seaside villages, and the iconic Kirkjufell mountain.

Your journey continues north to the untouched, wild landscapes of the Westfjords, the oldest part of Iceland and one of the country's best-kept secrets. Soar above the dramatic coastline, fjords, and mountains that characterize the remote region, and if you're lucky, you might catch a glimpse of seals basking on the shores or swooping white-tailed eagles looking for prey.

In both locations, your pilot will look for the best spot to land so you can stretch your legs and immerse yourself in the scenery, with plenty of time to capture some spectacular photos. You'll return to Eldar Lodge at the end of the afternoon, where another specially prepared home-cooked feast and a night under the stars await.

Day 6: Tröllaskagi Peninsula Heli-Skiing Adventure

Your pilot will take you in search of pristine snow for today's Arctic heli-skiing adventure

It's your last day, and what better way to complete your luxury Iceland jaunt than with a private heli-skiing adventure? The day starts with a safety briefing at the lodge, where your seasoned professional guides will equip you with all the gear you need for the day's skiing. Your destination is the Tröllaskagi Peninsula, renowned for its vast snowy peaks, and you'll be heading straight for the untouched mountaintops, where you'll have the chance to carve your own trails on pristine, untouched snow.

Whether you're a fan of steep, challenging slopes or a gentler descent, Tröllaskagi's terrain caters to all tastes. Whizz down the mountain, and you'll catch sight of deep fjords and the expansive Arctic Ocean as you make your descent. Get lucky, and depending on the conditions, you may also be fortunate enough to ski under the shimmering northern lights.

As the adventure draws to a close, board the helicopter for your flight back to the lodge. It's your final night in the land of fire and ice, so ask your chef to whip up something special as you unwind with a warm soak in the hot tub and a glass of wine.

Day 7: Transfer to Keflavík, Depart
