Overview

Athenian modernism comes to life in this 1930s landmark building that's now a 38-room boutique hotel. Located in the vibrant Agia Irini Square next to Psiri, the hotel offers a peaceful stay in beautifully designed art deco rooms that are perfect for couples, families, and groups. Acropolis views add extra relaxation to the space, as does a Zen center.

Kimkim's Take

Pros
  • The overall ambience is one of relaxation and calmness, which you can experience either from your room or in the Zen Center, which offers yoga and martial arts classes and a space to meditate.
  • All of the rooms are beautifully designed to capture the art deco style of the original building.
  • The location in Agia Irini is both lively with bars and cafés and central, as it's just a few minutes from Monastiraki and 15 from the Acropolis.
  • Superior rooms and the Penthouse offer incredible Acropolis views that make this already special space feel even more so.
  • Folks with wheelchairs can book one of two ADA-compatible rooms.
Cons
  • The square below the hotel can get packed, especially during the summer, so book a room on a higher floor for a bit more quiet.

Authenticity

The historic 1930s building that's now home to the Perianth is the inspiration for the hotel, which effectively brings an art deco style into the present day. Rooms with Acropolis views most powerfully evoke the city's history, as you can enjoy soaking in the ancient monument from a space that channels the 20th century and incorporates 21st-century amenities.

Location

The hotel stands in Agia Irini square, which is one of the more popular hangouts for locals in Athens. Settle in at one of the various cafés or head to Monastiraki five minutes away to check out the scene there. Syntagma is a 10-minute walk and the Acropolis and its museum are just 15 minutes away. The Perianth has the benefit of being in a locals' spot with easy access to all the sites of Athens.

Rooms & Bathrooms

The 38 rooms include options for couples and families or groups. All rooms feature a warm art deco style with bespoke furniture, geometric light fixtures, and a minimalist approach with splashes of color. Two rooms are ADA-compatible for those with wheelchairs. Larger parties can check out the two-bedroom Penthouse, which includes an outdoor jacuzzi. The Penthouse and some superior options have fantastic Acropolis views, while other rooms look over the busy square, so book a higher floor if you're a light sleeper.
