Day 1: Þríhyrningur Hike and Camping

Meet your guide at the Midgard Base Camp in Hvolsvöllur and check your hiking gear to make sure you have everything you need before driving to your hike's starting point in Vatnsdalur. Trek through southwestern Iceland towards Þríhyrningur (Thríhyrningur), often referred to as Three Peaks Mountain.

Take in the exceptional scenery and learn about historical events that took place hundreds of years ago as depicted in the 13th-century Icelandic epic, Njáls saga. Have a rest and enjoy expansive views of the surrounding area from your vantage point on Þríhyrningur. Traverse the ridge and descend the mountain carefully to lush farmland and amazing waterfalls, where you'll set up camp for the night.

Start your morning with coffee brewed over a fire and continue to explore your surroundings before breaking down your tents. Seek out fascinating man-made caves, nearby canyons, and lava fields. When ready, hop on your bicycle and travel to Þórsmörk before returning to Base Camp at Hvolsvöllur. Relax in the rooftop hot tub and sauna, and enjoy a refreshing beer.
