Our trip to Marrakech and Imlil in the Atlas Mountains, planned and guided by Abdel from Original Travels, was a spectacular (!!) return to travel for a group of vaccinated expats coming from Abu Dhabi.
We started out with a very smooth transfer from Casablanca to Marrakech with our wonderful (and safe!) driver, Samir, then had dinner at our gorgeous riad, Palais Sebban, a solid recommendation from Abdel. Our first morning, we took a super fun and informative cooking class at Maison Al Arabe then met up with our laid-back and kind local guide Hassan, for a loop through the Medina where we learned a lot about the culture and daily life of Marrakech and shopped for carpets, leather goods and argan oil.
The following day we were driven to Imlil in the Atlas Mountains for unforgettable hiking, visits with local Berber families for lunch and tea and a night of stargazing and some of the best tajine of the trip from Khasbah du Toukbal. Then it was back to Marrakech for our last two nights. We booked hammam treatments at the Royal Mansour, one of the city's prettiest hotels, a stop at the Majorelle Gardens and YSL museum and a final loop through the souq.
Phew!
We are a relatively well-traveled group and I have to say this was a trip of a lifetime, thanks to Abdel. He was so responsive and helpful in planning and leading us, but also patient and sweet when it came to giving us time to relax and do our own thing.
If you're looking to be a tourist, and I mean that in the very best sense of the word of experiencing and learning and feeling awe and gratitude for this big world, Original Travels is how to do it. Thank you, Abdel!

Fantastic week in Marrakech!

Abdellah was incredibly responsive, organized, flexible and fun. Considering the limitations imposed by Covid, we had to make multiple changes to our itinerary. Abdellah was quick to adjust and constructive in helping us pivot our plans. Each day he planned was fun without being too overwhelming. It was a smooth week all-around, and his help in planning our agenda was the difference maker! Anyone looking to enjoy Marrakech and the Atlas Mountains should not hesitate to use his team!

"One of our first trips since the pandemic and Abdel made great arrangements for us. Karim was our driver and friend throughout the tour. Mohanned was a wiz at weaving us through the medina in Fes and Hamdan had great insights in Marrakech. We had the entire place to ourselves in Skoura and a wonderful view from our terrace in Chefchouen. We'll definitely go back again since we were limited due to Eid Al Fitr. Hakim has to be the best tour operator we’ve ever worked with. Responsive yet also proactive, he followed up with us regarding our trip throughout the difficult pandemic year and kept the channels of communication going despite the country being under lockdown. This was very reassuring to us. He also kept following up with our progress, and soliciting for feedback during our trip to make sure we were enjoying our time. Who does that? With most operators you have a hard time getting a hold of once you send in that last payment. We had the good fortune of working with an exceptional driver, Mohamed, who was a great source of information. In fact I have requested that Mohamed work with my sister and BIL when they visit Morocco in a couple of months. We loved the Riad Chergui in Marrakech. Must try their lamb tagine with the apricots, pear, and prunes. What a fabulous combination. There were a few hiccups with the accommodation in Fez, but it was due to lack of communication on the hotel end. Our tour guide Youssef was a trooper. He stuck with us the entire 6 hours for our walking tour of Marrakech. We were all tired, but he was very professional to the very end.

We had an absolute wonderful time using Abdullah & Karim through Kim Kim Travels. Our trip was last minute and our arraignments were partially done when I found Abdullah. His level of flexibility, expertise and execution for our visit in Morocco are well worth it! We had a beautiful journey that started off in Marrakech and through the Sahara dessert, Fes, Chefchaoun, and lastly, our departure from Casablanca. Our driver Karim was very pleasant and easy going and always willing to be flexible with our decisions of where we were traveling. Would highly recommend to all my friends and family!

Morocco is Back !!!

(And if you ask him nicely, he'll even perform an incredible song or two in his native Berber!). We miss Morocco and our amazing guide Abdel and Karim, our always smiling driver! Abdel arranged a magical trip for us, a true experience and not simply a prescribed list of sights. The highlight of our trip was our 2-nights camping in the Sahara at Tiziri Camp. The camp is run by Akmed with his team of friendly helpers/amazing musicians. After delicious dinners we would sit around the fire listening to live music played by Akmed and his crew. Fantastic! We had many memorable discussions under the starry sky and I happily celebrated an unforgettable birthday there. We also visited a nomad home and rode camels at sunset, heard the music of Mali... thank you Akmed! We have visited Morocco before but this trip taught us a great deal more and deepened the experience immeasurably.

What can I say? Words just don’t do an experience like we had any justice. It was a breathtaking, sweeping view of a beautiful country rich in religious, cultural, historical and geographical wonders. Abdellah, our guide, and Mohamed, our driver (more importantly our good friends) took us on the trip of a lifetime. With Covid, the flights were a little tricky and we missed the first day of our scheduled tour. They were super flexible and accommodating and fixed our tour without any issues. When we arrived they were both there to greet us with smiling faces and a nice air conditioned car. We went to Chefchouen, the blue pearl of Morocco, Fes, Skoura Oasis, the Sahara Desert and Marrakech. (We had to skip Casablanca because of our flights.) We drove the whole way to each place. Abdellah and Mohamed pointed out all the details along the way and answered all of our questions. We ate amazing local food and experienced life like it is for the locals. Our Riads (little bed and breakfasts made out of old homes that are like mansions) were amazingly beautiful and unique at each stopping point. If you choose to go to Morocco, you have to go to the Sahara. It’s a must. We stayed at TIZIRI camp and were lucky enough to have the place to ourselves. It was magical. We travel all the time and much prefer local curated experiences. We would not have been able to have this once in a lifetime experience without Kimkim, Nabil, and Yassine. Nabil was our designated driver from Marrakech, Ourzzazate, the desert camping adventure and Fes but he was so much more. He looked after us with special care and attention the whole week in Morocco. When we had a special shopping request, he made it happen. When we had questions about local culture, he provided context. Really impressed with his professionalism and attention to detail - you’re in good hands with Nabil. The highlight of our trip were the off beaten paths - camp Chebi is a showstopper - it’s the ultimate glamming experience where you sit around a Bedouin camp fire and stargaze, after an epic camel ride, We met locals, wandered, shopped, hiked, and ate our way through Morocco. We had a wonderful time until Corona19 came. Pleased with the the way our change was handled. Our driver Samir was wonderful and so kind.. Loved the 3 cities we were able to visit. Did not like the accommodations in Fes but the food was great and the staff were spectacular. Would recommend the company to anyone( very efficient)

Kimkim (through Hakim) provided excellent overall service, coordination of the total trip in Morocco and in their choice of Riads (hotels) in Fes and Marrakech. Hakim was particularly helpful and kept us informed at each step of the planning phase, working with us through several iterations

Local drivers arranged by Hakim were on time and courteous. Guides were also very good and informative. One minor delay was resolved promptly by Kimkim and Hakim.

We loved our Morocco trip from the mosque at Casablanca to the overnight stay in the desert and the palaces. And the medinas in Fes and Marrakech. Lovely country with a lot of history. Wish we had more days to also visit the rest of the country.

Where do I begin? Every aspect of this experience was just fantastic! This was a Dad/Daughter adventure and we couldn't have been more pleased with this adventure. Yassine was super responsive and helpful in our planning stages. The communications and advance prep were wonderful for these first time to Morocco/Africa travelers. Our personal driver, Samad, was punctual, attentive, professional ...and fun! We experienced so much more that the large tour group (follow the person with the flag) kind of trip. I recommend taking the riad accommodation route versus hotels. They were all just exquisite and provided such a wonderful element to this trip. If you are on the fence about taking a trip to Morocco or working through KimKim, I urge you to not hesitate and take that leap to work with them. Our experience wildly exceeded expectations. This trip created memories that will remain with me all of my days.

This was an absolutely incredible trip! The planning done by our local specialist Megan and the service provided by our guide Omar was phenomenal. They dealt with all the hassle and logistics so that we could focus on enjoying our vacation. Our guide Omar was very knowledgeable and personable. I would highly recommend Omar and Megan to anyone else visiting Morocco!

Our drive for the entire trip was Samad. Though not a full guide he did have a lot of local information and in essence helped make the trip as great as it was. He has a great command of English, He was willing to stop to allow my wife to take roadside photos. His road skills were excellent and we never fear for our life while he was driving. We did have local guide in Fes - Hakim. He took us into the many winding streets and alleys that was a wonder that he didn't get lost. He was very good. In Marrakesh Youssef walked us around the City and again I was surprised that he did not get lost, but a life time resident he knew his way around and it showed. I would also like to say that each of our Ryads and Dars had hosts who really looked after us and made us feel very welcome. They were always eager to help with any thing we needed. The Bellamane Ryad & Spa the host heard my wife had a sore throat so he went to the local market for fresh lemons and ginger for a hot tea potion - it did the trick!

Megan was amazing - she helped us organize our perfect trip! This was incredibly helpful, she made a detailed itinerary, and answered all of our endless questions. She was super understanding of our minimal budget and was very helpful organizing things accordingly. This service is incredible for it's price and I highly recommend it! Megan was outstanding and made all of our wishes come true! Cannot recommend this enough!

We were four "60 somethings" who have traveled together previously. On fairly short notice, Sharon was able to arrange a schedule that fit our logistical requirements and desires. She accommodated each adjustment and modification easily. Her suggestions no doubt added to the diversity and depth of our experience and made the planning process enjoyable. In Tangier we were met by Hicham, our driver and guide for the next 15 days. In very short order we realized that our trip would be greatly enhanced with him as manager. He attended to our individual needs and interests and his knowledge of Moroccan history, straight-forward analysis, sense of humor and enthusiasm kept us all focused on learning as much as possible about his people and their culture. All of that, and the many miles of safe, error-free driving, often in tight quarters, added to our enjoyment. From Tangier to Marrakesh we delighted in the many geographical and cultural offerings. Hassan was fantastic booking this trip. I decided to go two weeks before I left. He was able to make all the my requests happen and more! The day before I left I slipped on the sidewalk and fractured my knee. I thought for sure I wasn’t going to be able to go but the doctor cleared me for the trip and I was so excited. He helped me get a better seat on the plane and wheelchair assistance at the airport which was much appreciated. He made sure I was well taken care of throughout my trip.

My driver Abdul took fantastic care of me from the time I arrived until I left! He taught me so much about Morocco’s culture and history while taking me to beautiful places and views along our drive around the country. I've traveled solo a lot but never had a driver before. I wouldn't see Morocco any other way. I felt safe as a solo female traveler and truly got to have best experience from the best driver!

I truly fell in love with Morocco! This trip was my 21st country outside of the USA and first time in Africa. It was above and beyond my expectations. Traveling over 1600 miles by car from Casablanca to Meknes to Fes to Chefchaouen to the Sahara to Rose’s Valley to Marrakesh, and all the stops in between I would do it again in a heartbeat. There is so much to do and see but I truly loved spending time in the desert and exploring everything each stop and city had to offer.

I’ve been humbled by the Berber way of life, by their culture and by their hospitality. Having worked in hospitality for 20 years and living in NYC working tireless hours you can loose site of anything outside of your of day-to-day. I truly found the meaning of hospitality and happiness again in Morocco. Having tea with the nomads really changed my perspective. Seeing a family actually live in a cave in 2020 invite me for tea to provide a stranger hospitality with just enough means to live was so easy for them. It’s hard to imagine they have never read a book, watched tv, surfed the internet or used a cellphone, yet they wanted to have basic human connection over tea. We should all live a little more like the Nomadic Berbers and the world may just feel a little less complicated and more welcoming to everyone. Morocco you have my ❤️!

My husband and I did a 10 day Highlights of Morocco tour and it was one of the best trips we’ve ever taken! The booking experience with Megan was quick and easy and she was able to customize the tour to suit our interests and budget. Our driver, Brahim, was absolutely superb! He was a fantastic guide and took care of us from the moment we were picked up at the airport. He was always courteous, timely, and very helpful. During our time in Merzouga, his family had a lovely surprise for us and it was one of the absolute highlights of our trip. Our riads were beautiful and the local guides were very informative and showed us quite a bit during our tours. Our favorite spots were the Sahara Desert and the beautiful medinas in Fes. Our private trip with Wanderlust Voyages was the perfect way to explore the country. Morocco is a beautiful place and the people are so kind and welcoming - we’ll be back again!

My wife and I booked a private 13-day Chefchaouen to Sahara and Beyond trip with Wanderlust.  We had the excellent fortune of being assigned Said Attioui as our driver.  Said went up and beyond to make our trip an incredible experience.  He was knowledgable about every location we visited and made our two weeks in Morocco seamlessly comfortable.  Even though it wasn't on the itinerary, Said made time to help us find and visit the grave of my great grandmother in Casablanca.
Seriously, request Said if you can.  You wont regret it!

Over 13 days, we visited Casablanca, Rabat, Chefchaouen, Volubilis, Fes, Meknes, Merzouga, the Erg Chebbi Dunes, Boumalne Dades, Ouarzazate, Ait Benhaddou, and Marrakech.  Trip highlights included hiking in the High Atlas Mountains, staying in a tented camp in the Sahara desert, being guided to incredible handcrafted goods in the medinas of Fes and Marrakech, and having tea with Said's family in Erfoud.  We were able to see and learn so much but never felt rushed or pressed for time.

While planning the trip, we worked with Megan who used our preferences re must-see sites, trip pacing and budget to create our ideal vacation.  We were especially happy with (1) Megan's hotel picks for us and (2) the fact that she was able to put together our vacation in such a short period of time (I think we first contacted her 3 weeks before our departure date).  We also had wonderful experiences with the site-specific guides we met for day tours in Fes, Meknes, Merzouga, the Toudgha Gorge, the Ourika Valley, and Marrakech.
