What an unforgettable adventure! From the beginning, until the last goodbyes, this trip to Morocco was about as perfect as it could be. Nihad, our planner was fantastic-helpful and responsive. Our tour manager, Rachid, was, simply, the best- so kind, funny, helpful, a joy to spend 2 weeks with, really. The official tour guides- Hassania, Rachid ("other Rachid"), Hicham, and the others whose name I cannot recall, were friendly and knowledgeable. They, and the Moroccan people, in general, who are among the kindest , warmest people you will ever meet, provided context and meaning for this trip. Morocco is a beautiful country and in our 2-week stay, we were treated to an unexpected variety of geography. It was incredible how much the scenery changed from day to day, or even hour to hour- Cities, green farmland, what I like to refer to as "Arizona", snow-capped mountains, forests, oases, desert, ocean. You name it, we saw it! I know I was going to enjoy this trip immensely, but never in my dreams did I imagine how much I would love this country and these people. I certainly hope I am fortunate enough to return one day.

Super-cool spot in the medina, a short walk to the water. The only potential downside is that there is no A/C, so you needed the windows open for cool, fresh air, but the bustle of activity in the square continued throughout the night. Just bring a fan or use a "noise" app on your phone to drown it out easily.

Really liked this place, but it was not our favorite on this trip. The rooms were beautiful, but the restaurant was mid. Also, there were dogs that were barking all night, which interrupted our sleep. Not sure if they were a part of this camp or another, but it was annoying, all the same.

Lovely tents with fully-functional bathroom facilities. Glamping as it should be.

Nestled in the peripheral dunes of the Sahara, the setting was magical.

They were very sweet, but it seemed like the place was run by 20-year-old boys who were way to young to have so much responsibility foisted upon them. They were diligent and kind, but I feel like they were a bit overwhelmed.

Merzouga to Dades Valley Via Todgha Gorge

Another great day driving, with many stops/ sight to see. The fossils collective in Erfoud had some amazing pieces of fossil art. We stopped at a roadside shop where we tried on native Amazigh clothing and took pictures in them. The family that owned the store was so warm and welcoming. They even let my husband lead a little jam session after he saw an electric guitar sitting in the store. The whole family got involved! Next was the tour of the old village if Tighir (excuse any misspelling). Our guide there was again, fantastic. After that, a stop at the women's rug collective, then an absolutely incredible (and huge) lunch. Next was the Gorge, which was a cool little trek. It was great to see all of the families picnicking alongside it.

It was great to learn about the history of Fez and to see the old Medina, souks. The sight s and sounds were everything I had hoped for. Our riad was the most incredible place and the service was outstanding. Dinner and a show at the Palais de Medina was a treat.

"Other" Rachid, our tour guide in Fez, was amazing. He was incredibly knowledgeable, and grew up in Fez, so it was like having the "mayor" give us a tour. Everywhere we stopped, he knew someone. When we spent considerably more time in the pottery colletive, deciding on which piece to buy, we were never rushed. I'm sure Rachid stayed with us considerably longer than he had planned, so we could get the entire day's tour completed.

Rachid, our tour manager/ driver was fantastic. He showed us a terrific restaurant which was probably one of the few in Chefchaouen that serves alcohol. We styayed an extra day, just as a recovery day, which also happened to be my birthday. Rachid managed to get the restaurant to have a little cake/ celebration and he even showed up at the end to join us for dessert. It was truly special of him to have gone that extra mile. The young men who staffed our riad were wonderful- kind, informative, eager to help.

Quick and easy. Rachid was ready and waiting for us when we got through customs. Communication was easy, as we texted via WhatsApp, so we kept him apprised of our progress once we landed.

The van was great and there was plenty of room for us and our luggage (even once we finished all of our shopping in Morocco).

Majid (our coordinator), Red (our guide), and Ishaam (our driver) all did a fantastic job.

PRE-TRIP
Majid worked with us to set up a custom itinerary and was knowledgeable, prompt, and available for all questions and concerns before and during our trip. We opted for a trip with luxury stays in highly rated hotels and riads. One of the most helpful pieces of information he provided was regarding acceptable tips for guides, drivers, etc.. Our group referenced his recommendations throughout the trip.

FOOD
Breakfast was included in the price, and Majid made dinner reservations for us whenever we requested it. Red took us to all of our lunch spots. We paid for both lunch and dinner. A note for vegetarians and vegans: While there are veg options for Moroccan food (salads, bread, veg tagine and couscous), it can get pretty repetitive after a while. So just be prepared to break your Moroccan meals up with other cuisines if you have access to them!

TRAVEL
Over the course of 9 days, we went to Chefchaouen, Fes, Merzouga desert, the Atlas mountains, and Marrakesh. As a group of 12 with 4 kids, it was so helpful to have a guide as energetic and positive as Red accompanying us throughout our travels. We were on the road a lot, and were in very good hands with Ishaam, who expertly and safely navigated through different types of terrain.

Because of our packed itinerary and time on the road, we didn't have too much time to shop. I would have loved to have had a bit more time to get more souvenirs and gifts.

OVERALL
Everyone we met was so warm and welcoming, and it was extremely helpful to have Red with us to navigate the language and culture. The guides we met along the way in Chefchaouen, Fes, and Morocco were very knowledgeable as well.

The best parts: I loved being in Fes and learning more about the intellectual and cultural capital of Morocco. Having 2 days in the desert right in the middle of the trip was a great call as well. After hours on the road and in bustling cities and towns, the calm and quiet of the desert was exactly what we needed to feel rejuvenated.

Highly recommend using KimKim and working with this team. A big thank you to Red, Ishaam, and Majid, for such a wonderful trip!

Driver, Mohammed, excellent. Riad in Fes nice, but riad in Marrakech had black mold and room odor. Riad in Ait Benadu was excellent. All guides were good and their tours very informative. The hike in the High Atlas was one of the highlights of our trip, as was the Sahara Desert camel trek and tent campsite. We had an excellent time. Our only areas we felt could be improved were drive times (unavoidable) and the constant solicitation by souk owners and individuals, but we realize that is a way of life in Morocco.

Fabulous trip! Our tour manager/driver Ahmed was very professional and personable. Local guides in all locations spoke very good English and were very knowledgeable. Accommodations varied but were all comfortable and safe. Highlights included camel ride to desert camp, tour of Volubilis, and lunch with locals in the Valley of the Roses.

Great place to end our trip! Suite gave us room to spread out and organize our stuff, amenities included in room coffee and tea, minibar and large closet with iron. Huge bathroom suite provided bathrobes and slippers, plus there was a half bath. Beds were very comfortable and we enjoyed spending time on the double balcony overlooking the pool. Included breakfast buffet had wide variety of sweet and savory items, lunch and dinner menus were also extensive and all items were delicious. There is also a bar which also provides service to the pool.

Decor is chrome, black, white, red and tan. Not especially Moroccon but very nice.

Right next to Craft complex which had a great variety of items that were also found in the souk. Ten minute walk to medina entrance and short drive or longer walk to Majorelle Garden.

Dades Valley to Marrakech via Ait Ben Haddou

Very interesting place, local guide Hatima (sp?) was born there and took me to her former home! She knew a lot of the ancient and more recent history, and took me to great photo opportunity sites, even took some photos of me.

Guide was good but felt I didn't get a sense of the Medina other than the 2 shops (clothing & leather/tannery - which was interesting) where we went. Granted it was raining and maybe there weren't open air stalls there but would have liked to have seen more. The clothing shop, Maison du Kaftan, was wildly overpriced - a shirt I was originally quoted for at MAD 1600 and for which I paid 800 MAD I later saw in Marrakech for 200 MAD. I understand I didn't have to buy it but want to put out a buyer beware warning as this was early in our trip, we were tired, not familiar with currency conversion nor what things cost. Good think I like the shirt!

Overall we were happy with the experiences we had on our trip. During the planning process, Nihad was receptive to my ideas and answered my questions. Our driver/tour manager Mo was very professional, punctual (other than when first picking us up from the airport, but that was because he was not provided the most up to date arrival time), and knowledgeable.

1. The hotel stays that Nihad booked us in were below our expectations. I suspect though, that there are not a lot of options for stays outside of Marrakesch. Each hotel was clean and staff were very hospitable and friendly, and so we very much appreciated those positive attributes. Many of the stays did not have basics such as shampoo or shower soap, including the "luxury desert camp" that we stayed in. Since we pack light, we don't travel with our own shampoo or soap, so not having it available in the hotel is a disappointment.

2. We did not find out until the end of the trip how extraordinarily expensive the taxi ride from the airport to our first hotel was. Nihad arranged a taxi ride (it ended up being our trip driver/trip manager) that would cost $50 USD. Well, at the end of the trip from the same area in the medina, we booked our ride through our hotel to the airport and it was only $20 USD. I eventually saw on social media afterwards that a reasonable price is 100 Dirhams (equivalent to $10 USD). Therefore, the $50 USD we were charged was exceptionally more expensive. If Nihad does not know this, please let her know so that future guests are not charged that much.

3. Our city tour/food tour with Hussein was a nice overview of the city, visiting a lot of the highlights of the city. The food part of the tour was not enjoyable, but understandably authentic. The last restaurant served us dirty utensils to eat with so that left us with a bad taste with regards to the food part of the trip. Hussein though was very friendly and knowledgeable. I would just suggest perhaps cleaner restaurant options if possible.

4. For tours driving to different cities, drive time estimates ahead of time would be nice (could just include that on the itinerary shared with the guest ahead of time) so we can be prepared.

5. Slightly disappointed we could not do the camel ride on the way back from our desert camp. According to the camp, we were supposed to have "reserved " it when we started the camel ride to the desert camp but we were never told that when we took that camel ride- it would have been nice to have known that up front.

Again, overall, it was a wonderful cultural experience. In retrospect knowing what I know now, I would probably book my own hotels and ask more questions before the trip. It's hard to know though when one has never been to a country to know what questions to ask.

We wanted a trip where we could see much of the country side of Morocco as well as the cities and medinas. We decided to have a driver for our whole trip who knew the country and the roads. Over ten days, we travelled with Hamza who was a personable young man who knew instinctively what we needed to see. We also took private tours of the Mosque and the Medinas. Highlights for us were dinners in the Medina in Essouira, riding camels in the Agafay, and hiking in the Atlas Mountains. Hamza stopped whenever we had a photo op or whenever we needed a roadside coffee. We travel a lot and this trip will rank right up there as a special one. Our trip was amazing. I was really impressed with the coordination by the driver and all of the local guides, hotels and lunches. Everything was seamless.
Reda, our driver was exceptional. He had a great sense of humor and I especially enjoyed his deep ha ha ha laugh. He was very knowledgeable and qued us in on things to do on our own, ie. Restaurants and events. He went out of his way to help us find wine, which wasn’t easy!!
The hotels were perfect, always in the middle of the action. We really enjoyed our interaction with the local people in their homes and shared meals. Of course the desert was our favorite- a real camel ride and the camp was charming.
I appreciated the coordination between KimKim and the local tour company Original Travel. Said did a great job of coordinating the driver, hotels, guides, etc.
My only recommendation would be to have a larger vehicle. 7 persons in a 8 person van was too tight, considering that we spent hours every other day traveling. We would have paid for a larger vehicle and I failed to inquire as to the size that was provided.
This was my first trip with KimKim and I will definitely use them again.

We had the most incredible time in Morocco! Firstly, Maryem, our trip coordinator did a wonderful job tailoring the itinerary to our liking and was quick to respond to any questions we had during our travels. The guides, hotels, excursions, and travel arrangements were fabulous. The highlights of our trip were, our time walking around the blue streets of Chefchaouen, the food tour in Fez, the ruins of Volubilis, and our stay in Agafay. The best part of our trip was Hamid, our amazing travel expert. He was just the best! He was punctual, kind, funny, warm, inviting, a great driver, and embodied all the best aspects of Moroccan hospitality. I cannot recommend him enough. Under the Moroccan Sun will ensure you will have the trip of a lifetime and we are already thinking of our next tailored adventure with them.

Feta was our very favorite guide. Major shoutout to him, the king of the Moroccan guides. My daughter has a severe nut allergy, and as you will learn nuts are a prominent feature in Moroccan desserts. He was extremely understanding of this and cautious. He triple checked with vendors every time. We just walked around the Souk and tried all the things that peaked our interest. The best way to really get to know Morocco. You must try the potato croquettes and fresh cheeses!

Volubilis were the most incredible Roman ruins I've seen so far (and I've seen many). You must go before they put the mosaic floors into the museum they are in the process of building. Our trip specialist Majid was wonderful, very accommodating, and incredibly responsive. We really enjoyed our 10 day trip though it was very fast paced. Our guide Red was very kind, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable about the areas we were in. I would highly recommend both Majid and Red.

Working with Majid to plan our Morocco trip was so effortless and easy. He made sure to accommodate all our interests and preferences, Because of his time and attention to detail, our trip was so smooth and enjoyable. Majid was also always available and responsive. Whenever we wanted to make some modifications to our itinerary, he was readily available to listen to our feedback and make changes as needed.

We also loved our driver Ismail. He was incredibly knowledge and we learned so much from talking with him throughout our trip. Ismail was also so kind and welcoming, we felt right at home in Morocco thanks to him. We will highly recommend him to all our friends and family who plan to visit Morocco in the future.

Kim Kim overall made it easy for us to plan our trip to Morocco. We provided our interests and they made a specialized trip for us. Said was helpful in keeping us informed. Our driver Mustapha was great throughout the trip and was so helpful. Our guides were so knowledgeable. We really enjoyed our trip. I would definitely use Kim Kim again for our future travels.

Our driver Khalid was absolutely outstanding. His knowledge and his reliability and safe driving was really impressive. He was very helpful and prepared to assist us at all times.
The accommodation was excellent in all locations except Essaouira where we were very disappointed. We could not get a bottle of water or tea in the afternoon and were told the kitchen was closed. The Air Conditioning did not work and the fan was very noisy while the shower was average at best.
However the location was good in the medina but overall that hotel (Villa de l'O) was poor.
I must stress however that overall we had the most fantastic time. Our guides were always knowledgeable and helpful while Khalid certainly made the trip a total success.

My driver/general guide Ali was simply awesome 😎. The local guides were all great as well; providing knowledge and understanding about their “areas” that made the tour so much more immersive.
I really don’t have anything negative to say here. This was a totally professional and customer service experience from start to finish.

Our driver Soufiane went above and beyond to ensure we had a great trip. He was outstanding! Our guides at Chefchaouen, Fez and Marrakech we very good. In particular, Fatima in Fes spent six hours with us and was a wealth of local knowledge. Mo in Marrakech (I’m sure not his real name) was also outstanding). He knew everyone- could have been the mayor. Great tour!!

Our guide made the trip. Extremely knowledgeable, friendly, courteous, safe driver, good sense of humour. We had the best time.

We were a group of 4 friends and booked our recent trip to Morocco via Kimkim. Our local tour operator was Original Travels. The trip was very well organized. We spent 8 days in Morocco and it was truly a memorable experience.

We worked with Ali of Original Travels to plan our trip. He was knowledgeable, willing to work with our preferences, and accommodated late requests for itinerary changes. We were very happy with our interaction with Ali prior to our landing in Morocco. Once on the ground, we had a wonderful driver Karim from Original Travels who drove us across the country. He was cheerful, and really dedicated to ensuring that we enjoyed our trip and his knowledge of the local history and culture made our days really pleasant . He coordinated with the local guides at all the places we visited. Though he had to leave a couple of days early due to a personal emergency, he made sure we had another great driver, Mayssar, to work with us for the last couple of days. A big thank you to the Original Travels team, especially Ali and Karim, for making our trip worry and stress free.

We enjoyed walking through the medinas and spending time in the beautiful countryside including the desert and the mountains. Morocco is a place of incredible natural beauty, a wonderful mix of the old and new cities and culture, and warm, hospitable people.

Yassine helped us design our Moroccan itinerary and he was fabulous. Together we crafted a journey that was full of activities, visually fabulous, and educational through the many threads of Moroccan history.
Hicham our driver was considerate and careful throughout our journey. We had a brand new SUV that was well appointed and comfortable for our trip. Lots of amazing memories and photos.

We were very apprehensive before we landed in Casablanca. Not knowing the language and unsure about the customs and culture. Once we started our journey, everything went very smoothly and flawlessly. Youssef was not only our driver but became more like friends. Always taking us to right place for breaks and meals on the way. He treated us on his home made sweets (made by his mother). We named them Laddu( similar to our Indian sweets). All the places of stay were carefully selected. Pace of the trip was leisurely. All the guides were very informative and friendly. Never rushing. Our meal with the local family was great experience. Very bright and young couple. Overall excellent 10 days of trip to beautiful land. Special mention should be made of hotel Dar Rihana Dades in Ait Ouffi was a beautiful small hotel tucked away in the gorge. Run by family. They were all delightful people and served the best meals that we had on this trip.
