Three middle age American women set out on a two week Moroccan adventure and booked through KimKim. KimKim helped us plan our itinerary and then worked with Moroccan Immersion , who was our on the ground tour operator. Everything about the trip was perfect. Nihad was our planning contact at KimKim on the front end and did a stupendous job. Our driver, Ahmed, was with us for over 10 days and he became a friend. We even have a WhatsApp group chat now! We had a few unusual travel complications and cofounders Sharon and Abdou even brought us to their lovely Kasbah to for lunch. From our drivers (Omar was also amazing) to tour guides, the attention to detail and care was so impressive. I can't recommend KimKim enough and their partnership with Morocco Immersion.

I had never used Kimkim before, but I am likely to in the future. From start to finish, everything just went smoothly. Two years ago when we went to Kenya and Tanzania (using another agency), we had a series of disaster after disaster. My wife and I kept looking at each other this time and wondering when everything was going to fall apart. Spoiler alert: It never did. From the initial planning on where in Morocco we wanted to go, to constant communication with Nihad our trip planner in the time leading up to it, everything just worked.

Our driver was amazing, knowledgeable, and got us from place to place safely, and was also a wealth of knowledge about Morocco in general. The city guides were incredible and patient, answering all of our questions.

We told our trip planner that we really didn't want the "tourist experience." In other words, we didn't want to be with 30 other people following a guide holding a flag aloft shuffling us from place to place. We didn't want to see Morocco as Americans. We wanted to understand from Moroccans what made Morocco special to them. And Kimkim delivered.

I would definitely choose Kimkim again.

She was very helpful in planning and executing our budget and desires. Will definitely recommend!

I would have given 5 stars if it wasn't for a couple things that happened on the trip, but I won't mention them here.
My husband and I were in Morocco for 14 days. We had one driver for the entire time. Youssef was there for us day and night. He got to know us and we truly enjoyed him. He always made sure we went to clean bathrooms, stopped for good food along the way, and was very knowledgeable about the places we visited.
Most of the guides and experiences were wonderful. The highlight was the desert camp and riding the camels to see the sunset.

As this was our first trip with Kimkim we were not sure what to expect in terms of service and quality of experiences and accommodations. After completing our two-week trip to Morocco though, we were in large part exceptionally pleased with the entire trip experience, although a couple of the accommodations might have been less than advertised. However, this was Africa, so our expectations were mostly commensurate with our locale. From the very beginning of the planning and all through the time we were in-country, our local specialist Majid was always available and checked in with us almost every day to make sure we were enjoying our trip and to offer advice and assistance whenever needed. We made a few on-the-spot changes to our schedule, and he was always accommodating. While we actually never met with Majid in-person, we spent considerable time every day with our driver Yosef. As it turned out, Yosef was probably the most impressive aspect of the entire trip insofar as he made everything run seamless, all the while being a perfect host, ambassador and overall delightful! He truly made us feel as though we were long-time friends, and his warmth and hospitality shone through as bright as the Saharan desert sun! We give him 6 stars for his effort and strongly recommend you request him if you have the opportunity.
We did have one problem that arose regarding a hike Kimkim arranged in Dades that was labelled an "easy" walk. It was anything but, with treacherous rocky and slippery terrain at every step. One of us suffered a serious fall and incurred an unfortunate injury as a result. The lesson here was to be more informed about such outings, and also for Kimkim to be more accurate about the level of a walk they arrange for their senior citizen customers. Aside from this unfortunate accident though, the rest of the trip was fantastic, and we will not hesitate in using Kimkim for our future travels.

We had a fantastic experience planning our trip through Kimkim and Moroccan Immersion. Our local specialist, Nihad, was incredibly helpful, providing excellent suggestions and seamlessly incorporating our requested changes into the itinerary. Whenever we had questions during the trip, Nihad was easy to reach and offered clear guidance.

We also felt well-supported by our primary driver and tour manager, Omar. He was consistently professional, punctual, reliable, and caring. As two women over 60 traveling to Morocco for the first time, his expertise and safe driving were greatly appreciated; we felt secure and well-cared for throughout the entire journey. We also enjoyed our transfer from Marrakesh to the Casablanca airport with Omar Daoudi, who provided fascinating insights into local customs and daily life.

The trip highlights were undoubtedly Chefchaouen and Ait Benhaddou, and staying at Dar Al Miraaj in Rabat really set the tone for a wonderful vacation. If there is one area for improvement, we suggest that drivers keep complimentary water bottles in the car for passengers. Overall, we highly recommend this experience!

Riad Hicham is perfectly situated in the heart of Chefchaouen, putting you right in the middle of all the main tourist activities. While the location is ideal, our room was a bit noisy at night as our window faced an adjacent restaurant terrace. Inside the room, there was no safe, and while robes were provided, they were unfortunately too small for most adults and no slippers were available. That said, the hotel has a very distinguished character and beautiful, unique fixtures that made for a memorable stay.

Dar Al Miraaj is an exceptional riad. We were provided with wonderful ground-floor rooms, each unique in its craftsmanship, decor, and authenticity. Staying at Kasbah Rayane felt like being the only people in this beautiful landscape, with nothing but sweeping desert views from our window. We stayed in a room on the top floor, which was simple and basic, but the staff truly made our stay special. They were incredibly accommodating and served us a wonderful dinner, even going out of their way to prepare a special meal for my friend who wasn't feeling well and required a specific dietary alternative.

We enjoyed our stay at Riad Dar Ayur. The staff was exceptionally helpful and accommodating, making us feel right at home each evening. They were incredibly thoughtful; for example, when we had to depart early on our final day, they served breakfast half an hour ahead of schedule just so we wouldn't have to leave hungry. We also loved the elegant and welcoming tea service upon our arrival. The only minor inconvenience was the acoustics, as sound travels easily through the walls; however, because the hotel was not crowded during our stay, it did not bother us much.

Fes to Merzouga via Ifraine and Azrou - Camel Trek to Desert Camp

The drive from Fes to Merzouga is long, but the stops in Ifrane and Azrou made the journey much more enjoyable and scenic. We arrived perfectly on time for the camel trek, and watching the sunset during the ride to the camp was an unforgettable experience. The desert camp itself was very comfortable—our tent felt more like a hotel room, complete with a private bathroom, shower, Wi-Fi, and cozy beds. We also found the dinner and breakfast at the camp restaurant to be both delicious and satisfying.

Volubilis is definitely worth visiting. To get the most out of your time there, I highly recommend reading up on the history and development of the site in advance, as it complements the information provided by the local guide perfectly. We also had the chance to visit Moulay Idriss Zerhoun, a picturesque historic settlement on a nearby hilltop. It was fascinating to see that many of the oldest buildings in the village were constructed using materials repurposed from the ruins of Volubilis.

We enjoyed our guided tour of Rabat with Hasania, but we were hoping for more in-depth historical context. While she did a great job showing us all the major attractions and was very responsive to our specific questions, we felt the experience lacked the extensive, colorful narrative we were looking for. We ended up filling in the historical gaps ourselves through outside reading, which left us feeling that the tour was more of a logistical guide than an immersive historical deep dive. For future travelers: If you are looking for a deep historical perspective, I recommend doing some preliminary reading on Rabat before your tour so you can ask specific, pointed questions, as the guide is very helpful when prompted but may not provide a broad historical overview on her own.

We were incredibly impressed by how seamlessly our transportation to and from the Sahara luxury camp was organized. The journey involved several modes of transit—including our private car, a 4x4, and camels—yet everything was perfectly coordinated, with our next transfer always waiting for us upon arrival. The entire experience felt like a true, fun-filled adventure. On the drive to Ait Ben Haddou, we enjoyed observing local life in the passing towns from our window, which was a fascinating cultural glimpse. Ait Ben Haddou itself is breathtaking; while the climb to the top is a bit challenging, the panoramic views are well worth the effort. On our return trip, our local guide took us off the beaten path, providing a fantastic opportunity to take some unique, non-touristy photos.

The drive from Rabat to Chefchaouen was a journey that offered a unique glimpse into Moroccan life. We also enjoyed a pleasant coffee break in a lovely area that offered some good opportunities for shopping.

Having already toured the medina and souks in Fes, the Marrakech tour felt somewhat familiar in those areas. However, the experience was still unique thanks to the visit to the Jemaa el-Fnaa square and the Bahia Palace. Our guide was exceptionally knowledgeable, and we thoroughly enjoyed his insightful commentary throughout the day On the next day we visited the Majorelle Garden which was wonderful, offering a refreshing and peaceful escape from the frantic energy of the medina. I highly recommend including this stop for anyone looking to balance the intensity of the city with a bit of tranquility.

The overall expeience was excellent. Highlights were dinner with families, Marakesh tour with Moroccan history, sunset trip in desert, guided stops at the various points of interest, and generally the experience of interacting with the Moroccan people.

Our driver, Abdel, was over-the-top excellent, an 11 out of 10.

A few suggestions:
1. Although most stops were NOT aggressivey pushing sales of their products, a couple did...not comfortable.
2. A walk through the gardens at the "rug stop" was not particularly interesting and, in our case, the ground was muddy and uneven so quite messy and somewhat dangerous.
3. Acceptance of credit cards was sporadic. Thus, I would suggest advising clients to have sufficient amount of Morrocan cash for the week.
4. Because of the frequent tipping of guides and other service people, I would also suggest that clients have smaller denominations available.
5. The last Riad routinely shuts off the water overnight. Quite a surprise when you need to wake up to make an early flight.
6. Logistics for arriving at & leaving the desert camp could be fine-tuned...all aspects, who, what, when, & where. Communications with, and seemingly among, the staff at the desert camp was disjointed at best.

My favorite accommodation was the Kasbah Tiziri in Boumalne Dades. It was a beautiful spot run by a terrific lady who made the experience excellent. The rooms were quite small, but overall it was a wonderful place to stay and definitely stood out as the best accommodation on the trip.

The guided tour of Marrakech was great. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the history of Morocco, which really set the stage for the trip by giving us a solid background. It was especially helpful for those of us who didn't do much research beforehand.

We can’t say enough good things about our trip to Morocco. We booked a week long tour with Kimkim visiting Fes, the Sahara and Marrakech. I don’t usually use tour agencies but I was glad I did. Both for the inside tips on what to do and where to go, but also it made it so much easier getting around Morocco. We worked with Nihad over the course of several months getting everything arranged. It was nice because she was so responsive to our requests and tried to make the trip exactly what we wanted. Once there the trip went smoothly. Rachid, our private driver for the week, was amazing. He was always dependable and just fun to be around. Also, whenever we wanted to do anything a little off the schedule - he always accommodated. He even bought a birthday cake for my wife and somehow got it out to our camp in the desert. We will definitely use them in the future!

To begin I would like to thank Faisal for an amazing journey across Morocco. From the time he picked us up in Casablanca he has treated us like family. It has been an amazing 15-day journey across Morocco. The history, the sites, and people that I have met have created everlasting memories. Maryem was great. She responded quickly to suggested changes to the trip planning. During the trip, we had one request about the hotel room for our next city, and she immediately contacted the hotel. My traveling companion, Patrize, did most of the trip planning and worked closely with Maryem and thought she was excellent. The hotels she booked for us were all very nice, especially the one in Marrakesh where we spent our first two and last two nights. Our driver and primary guide, Mohammed, was also excellent. He was very nice and easy to be with, which was important since we were with him for 13 days. Our other two traveling companions shared our views on Mohammed. We made a couple of itinerary changes during the trip, and he did whatever we asked of him. I had an incident with one hotel that accidentally charged me twice for an expense. As soon as I realized it (via a notification of the charges on my iPhone), I told Mohammed, and he called the hotel and fixed it. There were four of us on the trip, and Mohammed had a comfortable Mercedes-Benz SUV with cold water bottles and a nice Wi-Fi system, so we were always connected to the internet.
We saw a lot of Morocco, flying into and out of Marrakesh, going south over the Atlas Mountains into the desert, and taking a camel trek to a desert luxury camp and then north again over the mountains. We also visited Fes, Rabat, and Casablanca. Between Fes and Rabat, we stayed in Chefchaouen (the Blue City). The old part is small and very beautiful and well worth the side trip. In Marrakech, Fes, Rabat, and Chefchaouen, we took short tours with local guides who were all excellent. Mohammed was an excellent guide for the other parts of our trip. We even visited his relatives in Rissani, who had us for lunch at their home. All in all, a great trip thanks to you and your people in Morocco.

Our trip to Morocco was 9 days. I found the initial interaction with Hamza to be easy and helpful. However, eventually our trip was turned over to Said and I found getting all of our questions answered before arrival to be extremely difficult. Our driver Reda was excellent and we enjoyed all of our time together. All the hotels recommended by Kim Kim were excellent. Areas for improved communication would be as follows: Morocco as a country requires you to have a lot of small coins and small bills. The county culture is based on tips. When you go to the restroom there is an attendant you should always tip them. We were not aware of this custom and therefore did not have the correct type of currency to tip appropriately. Our driver Reda provided us with the correct coins. Which was greatly appreciated. We would have liked to know this when we exchanged our money so that we could have been prepared to tip correctly. Obtaining small bills was a challenge. Most places do not take credit cards. So you must be prepared to have enough currency to tip everyone and pay for all items in cash. Even when we had cash they could not take the large bills we had been given when we exchanged our currency. We had six additional guides during our trip. Four were arranged by Kim Kim and two were arranged by our driver when we arrived at the site we were touring. We found two of the guides assigned to us not to meet our standards. The rest of the guides were exceptional. We did address this during the trip.
We found the local specialist to always be available via text throughout our trip. I also felt that even with thorough research I still did not really understand our day to day plans. For example our only full day to explore Fes was on Friday with is the day that the majority of the town is not open. This was extremely disappointing. Had we known this we could have easily switched our itinerary. Make sure when you are planning ing your trip that you understand which days most merchants will be closed for religious reasons or holidays. Overall we enjoyed our trip very much and loved exploring the country.

Excellent location. The decor could be updated. The beds are extremely hard. We personally loved the steps up to the hotel. I read a lot of reviews that complained about the steps. You should definitely not stay at this hotel if you can not climb 160 uneven steps many times a day. The staff is great. Make sure you have money to tip the people who carry your bags up the steps. They work very hard:)

This was a great location. We appreciated the smaller size. The tents were very well appointed. The Camel ride is over an hour so be prepared. We enjoyed our ride. I would make sure to ask that your group is separate during the ride so that you can enjoy your time together. Unfortunately, another group caught up with us and was extremely loud and talkative. The experience is so unique I think everyone should be able to enjoy however they wish without distracting from others. The music after the meal is wonderful. We now have a new genre of music we love! Desert Blues.

This was the Best hotel of the entire trip. I hotel is so well designed. Every space is curated from local artisans. The entire experience from the moment you walk into the hotel is a masterpiece. The gardens are breathtaking. The food is Michelin. quality. The rooms are well appointed. When we arrived I did not want to leave. I was disappointed we did not have more time. I would highly recommend that you spend as much time as you can at this hotel and enjoy all the experiences they have to offer. This is by far one of the top hotels in the country and should not be missed.

I felt Chefchaouen as a town was a disappointment. Maybe it was because we had a bad guide. Volubilis was great and should. It be missed. We had an excellent guide that was arranged when we arrived. It is very hot and does require sunscreen and lots of water. The guide is a must to make sure you understand what you are looking at. The other two locations could have been skipped.

As the henna slowly fades from my hand, and the last trace of desert sand from the Sahara falls out of my shoes, my mind still dances to the rhythm of the Berber music that embraced my trip.

The smell of the campfire, the warmth of the mint tea, the smiles that met my eyes in every direction I looked, the warm culture, and that constant peacefulness in the air, have become memories that make my heart flutter.

That feeling of being one with nature, intertwined, fully connected, and grounded to my core, will stay embedded in my soul forever.

The kindness that I received, the kindred spirits that I met along the way, and the many hours of laughter that I shared with everyone I met, will now become a part of my smile that I share daily.

It’s hard to put an adventure like this trip into words to explain to others when they ask “How was your trip?”. I believe strongly that everything happens for a reason, and people are put into our lives on purpose. The people I met along this journey, the connections I made, and the friendships that formed into family will stay in my heart forever!

All I can say is Morocco is stunning, vibrant, and extremely beautiful, and the people are some of the most amazing people I’ve ever met in my life! Our driver Moha was the absolute best driver anyone could ask for, and we couldn’t have done this trip without his expertise! Moha was extremely nice, forgiving for our lateness, and beyond helpful and accommodating no matter if it was for a pit stop or finding something in particular that we needed. He told us a lot about the country, helped us learn some of the language, laughed with us, and always made sure we were comfortable and happy. By the end of our trip Moha felt like family to us!

The accommodations were spectacular beyond measure! The beauty and the attention to detail blew my mind at the Riad and the Tiziri Desert Camp. Both places had exquisite food, some of the best I’ve ever eaten before. Tiziri Desert camp took me to a new level of happiness I’ve never known, a peacefulness I am excited to revisit!

All in all, this was a trip that dreams are made of, and I couldn’t ask for anything more, except more time there! I can’t wait to go back!!

The team of Imane & Said were very helpful in choosing and planning the trip. They were great to accommodate our requests for Riads vs hotels etc. Overall they did a fantastic job.

Our driver/guide Mayssar was superb; he is knowledgeable, warm, friendly and very accommodating. We might have started with a driver but left with a friend. The trip would not have been good without him!

The accommodations were very good - we wanted to experience the Riads and they were very comfortable.

The highlight of our trip was the Sahara desert. The camel ride, jeep ride and the food! The owner/manager Hummou of the camp was superb in taking care of us; I would highly recommend this camp after talking to travelers in other camps. The food was excellent.

The Riad in Dades Gorges was good, and the manager was fantastic. The best food on the trip was at this Riad.

The second best part of the trip was the cooking class. It was done very elegantly.

Our guide in Marrakesh Abde Latif was the best guide we had - His English, knowledge and sharing was very good. Overall the guides were good, and informative.

We enjoyed the family dinners. It would have been nice if the guide stayed with us to translate when we met the Berber family as no-one there spoke english. But we still enjoyed visiting with the family. They were warm and wonderful.

Palais Zahia was just what we had expected a Riad to be; Great workmanship.

The La Kasbah d'Ourika also had some superb craftsmanship and was renovated very nicely.

All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed the trip.

Of course one or two things didn't work out as expected; but the KimKim team was immediately responsive and did their best to straighten it out. Thanks.

Where to start? Marrakech: the Diamond Riad was gorgeous, the food from the hotel was great including the breakfasts. In the morning , we had another guest open our room door and entered into our room when we were in it! We addressed with the front staff who denied that she gave the key to someone else, another guest, and had no idea how that could’ve happened. No apologies offered. We were told the night before that our third night was canceled and there was no room for us at the hotel. So we had to pack up and move to another location in the morning. We had plans to return to some places in the Medina but we were unable to. We planned on a food guide our first evening and he was about 45 minutes late. He was too soft spoken and did not offer an expectation for the evening. We felt rushed and had to walk quickly to keep up with him. We recommend not having your food tour on the first night in country if you are able. Our tour guide Goshen for the Medina was very good. We did not feel rushed and were often told to take our time.
Next stop: Riad Dar Imil. The room was very nice but we didn’t have much time in the room as we arrived in the evening. The food was decent.
The hike with Hassan and lunch with a Berber family was a disaster in our opinion. It never occurred. We walked for 30 minutes stopped, had a tea, and spent another 60 minutes walking to and through a village. The meal was in a big room meant for many people where we ate by ourselves and five cats. After our lunch of 30 minutes, our guide napped and returned to our room 60 minutes later. He then guided us for 10 minutes down to our driver. He was not friendly when we asked him about meeting the family. He said they were at a wedding. There were no children to give candy to that we had and he took the whole bag for his family. This was one of the main things that we were looking forward to on this trip and it didn’t happen. We are very disappointed in this aspect. We highly recommend that you do not use Hassan for any guiding! As far as having lunch with a Berber Family, I highly recommend that this is pre-organized before anyone wants to do this.
Dar Rihana Dades was our next hotel. The hotel was beautiful. The food was easily five stars. The chef could be on a cooking show and would probably win. The staff, mainly the main person who ran the restaurant and hotel was phenomenal.
Our guide, Mohammed took us into the monkey fingers trail. He was kind, patient, and knowledgeable. This experience for us was phenomenal.
Onto Merzouga. While our accommodation was a tent in the Sahara, it was meant to be two nights and we only had one night. We also requested for a stargazer experience and that did not happen either. The accommodation was very nice, and the staff was wonderful. The camel ride into the camp was good, but our guide was not good. We recommend you do not use him again. He tried to sell us sand!! At first he said it was a gift to us and then at the camp, he said we owed him 100 dh! The food was terrible at the camp! Cold and flavorless.
The next day, we had a Jeep tour with Abdul. He was a fantastic guide. Patient, very knowledgeable, and friendly. Five stars for him and the tour. We stayed in Riad Villa Amood. The hotel was beautiful, comfortable sleep, and the food was great!
The Fossil museum for us was definitely worth a stop.
The drive to Fez was very long. We wish we would’ve stopped halfway to sleep and relax a little bit. Please change the time on the itinerary to 9 + hours instead of 7.
The accommodation in Fes was 3 stars while we felt the staff member/manager was not very friendly, the dinner we had there was terrible as well as the two breakfasts. The bread was at least two days old. There was no protein or fruit served, and the coffee was average. The guide (Mustfa) in the Medina was a three star. He was knowledgeable, he knew where things were in the Medina, But our heart belief felt like he had done this a 1000 times and he had lost his passion for the job. Our meal in the Medina was awesome- Berrada Family. The places he took us to were geared for sales. We did not like this. The carpet place took over an hour! A discussion needs to happen between the Medina guide and the clients as to what the clients want to see and how long they want to see it for. There were some things that we wanted to see, but we ran out of time because we spent so long in the carpet place. The mosaic and pottery factory tour was good but the high pressure salesman was not ok. The owner even followed us out to our car!
Rabat we could’ve skipped, and Casablanca was enough to have our mosque tour and leave.
Be prepared with enough cash for tipping your guides every day.
Our driver, Samir, was friendly, knowledgeable, and an expert driver. He always provided water for us everyday.
Expectations for the day as far as stops (we could have missed the movie set place as we had to rush to our camel ride), toilet breaks, and lunch breaks should be discussed every morning. There were a few days where we felt hungry and had no place to stop and eat. Expectations between client and the tour guides should also be discussed before the tour. We felt we spent too much time doing things in the Medinas that we didn’t want to do and not enough time seeing and experiencing the things we wanted to see and experience. For example, the Koranic school inside the Fes Medina.
Overall, Morocco is a beautiful country and people with a wonderful variety of things to experience. KimKim was the disappointment with our itinerary being shuffled around. We would recommend to our friends, but giving them these words of advice.

Our driver Ilyace, made the whole trip such a dream! Everything went smoothly and he took the time to take us all kinds of amazing places that weren't on our itinerary, and that only a local would know! Also, KimKim was very easy to work with and everyone on the tram were really great communicators.
