Pros
  • The location is excellent for experiencing a historical in-land city while still being a quick 10-minute drive to popular swimming spots along the coast.
  • As a historic property, you can enjoy many unique experiences, like sipping cocktails in a chapel, swimming under stone ceilings, and dining on a grand balcony.
  • All the rooms are comfortable, relaxing, inviting, and cozy, with refined furnishings and bedding.
  • Most rooms offer views of the town's historic streets and rooftops or the hilltop castle in the distance.
  • The spa is an experience and feels like a genuine reprieve from busy daily life, with a huge pool lined with stained glass windows, soaking tubs, powerful water spouts, and a sauna.
  • Enjoy the beautiful outdoor terrace, set against the hillside, with a swimming pool, wooden sundeck, sunbeds, and castle views.
  • The restaurant serves all meals and features Mediterranean fare, offering seating inside a grandiose dining room or on the terrace overlooking the town.
Cons
  • Though you can easily walk into Capdepera's historic core, the hotel's located along the town's busy main street.

Authenticity

You'll stay in a unique property, a 19th-century convent that housed Franciscan nuns until 2005. The visionaries behind Hotel Creu de Tau used the space to create a wave of inland tourism, which continues to bring travelers into the heart of the island. The property is truly stunning, with distinctive features, such as a bar in the old chapel and its indoor pool under stone archways and stained glass windows.

Location

You'll be on the edge of Capdepera, a historical village with charming stone streets and a towering castle. The hotel is along the town's main street, which can get a little busy, though the start of the historic Old Town is just steps away, and the Castell de Capdepera is a six-minute walk. The edge of the Punta de Capdepera Peninsula, where you'll find historic lighthouses and hiking trails to scenic coves, is a 13-minute drive. Cala Pini and la Font de la Cala are good options for swimming and are less than 10 minutes away.

Rooms & Bathrooms

Even standard rooms provide stylish, refined, and comfy spaces with king beds, outdoor space, and cozy robes and slippers. Upgraded rooms might be worth the splurge, as they add more space, seating areas, and stunning terraces overlooking the historic town—some with castle views. You can also book a suite for added perks like living rooms, in-room soaking tubs, and/or private hot tubs. The Royal Suite offers a bit of everything, including a personal rooftop terrace.

Other Highlights

There are many common spaces to enjoy at Hotel Creu de Tau, including a bar within the convent's old chapel, a large lounge with cozy furnishings, and a restaurant with seating under beamed ceilings and stone archways. You can also relax in the spa with its pools, sauna, and treatment menu, or head outside to the garden with an outdoor pool and lounge. And, hence the hotel's name, you'll find lots of art exhibitions throughout all the common areas.
