Pros

• The beachfront location feels exclusive since you'll be directly on the sand. Just a few steps from the property takes you to a grassy area with Balinese sunbeds.
• The kid-friendly amenities are impressive, with a camp running all summer, plus three outdoor kid pools, an outdoor playground, and a kids' menu at the restaurants. 
• Enjoy drinks at one of the two bars, Dunes Bar being outside with sea views and the other indoor in the lounge. 
• For meals, you can choose from a gourmet a la carte restaurant with sustainably sourced seafood, a buffet eatery with themed nights, and an outdoor lunch space overlooking the sea.
• There are plenty of other amenities, too, including three large outdoor pools, a spa with a sauna and treatment menu, a gym, and a cycling center where you can rent bikes. 

Cons

• The hotel is one of the largest on the island, with nearly 450 rooms, so expect things to feel a little busy during high seasons.
• The rooms are pretty basic for a 4-star hotel without many perks. 
• As a family-friendly hotel, the amenities really do cater to kids, but the rooms only feature sofa beds rather than multiple beds or bedrooms. 

Authenticity

As an Iberostar hotel, there's not too much authenticity here, though you may feel like you've returned to Mallorca's tourism golden years. The white-washed building is set in layers with blue-tinted glass balconies overlooking the pool and beach—a time capsule from the 70s. 

Location

You'll enjoy a beachfront property right on Playa de Muro, a 15-minute drive south of the Port de Alcúdia and the ferry to Menorca. The front entrance faces the main street, but you'll still have direct access to the beach and private grassy area with sunbeds. You'll find plenty of eateries and shops within walking distance, and you can explore the region with a rental car or private transfer. The historic center of Alcúdia is a 15-minute drive, and the hiking areas near Pollença are about 40 minutes away.  

Rooms & Bathrooms

The rooms are modern though simple, with wood-paneled walls, furnished balconies, and spacious bathrooms. You'll enjoy views of the outdoor pool and might have a glimpse of the sea, too. However, just keep in mind that some basic rooms only look out to the parking lot. Suites are much larger with seating areas, like sofas or comfy chairs. Family options have sofa beds in addition to a double or queen bed, and some add kitchenettes and dining tables. 

Amenities

Hotel amenities include a gym and cycling center, a large spa with an indoor heated pool, three additional outdoor pools with loungers and umbrellas, and direct access to a grassy beach area with sunbeds. The spa also features a whirlpool bath, water jets, Turkish bath, and sauna and offers a range of treatments from massages to facials. The gym is well equipped, with cardio machines, free weights, and TRX straps. There are also body pump and Pilates classes on offer. The hotel is accessibility friendly, with wheelchair-adapted rooms available. 

Family-Friendliness

Iberostar Playa De Muro describes itself as a "hotel designed for families," which it proves with three outdoor pools reserved for the little ones with slides, plus an outdoor playground, an indoor play area called Camp Star, and a kids' menu at the restaurants. Children of all ages are welcome, baby cribs are provided, and the hotel rooms are suitable for families. There’s also a kids’ club with different “camps” split into different age groups.

Other Highlights

Seven eateries, including an outdoor food truck, two bars, and a brewery, are on the property. You can relax in the outdoor gazebos with a drink or a book, and there is also a lounge indoors. Plenty of family-friendly programs, such as live magic shows, dance acts, and live music, are also available.
